Reviews: Beijing to Jinshanling Great Wall 1-day tour & Depart at 9 AM · Optional private tour · Includes admission ticket

The tour includes round-trip transportation (which is best arranged in advance), and they explain how to access the city walls and the entrance process. They provide transportation to the entrance, where you can have lunch on your own, or in our case, we brought our own food. Once at the top of the walls, we took some time to eat and relax, as they give you plenty of time to explore the beautiful walls on your own. On the way back, they make a stop in another town; you can enter for a fee if you wish, or wait outside. From there, you can see the walls illuminated at night. For us, the tour was exactly what we expected and very reasonably priced compared to other tours. Susy was very friendly and attentive to the pickup.

The itinerary was well-planned and the duration was just right. The explanations were unique and easy to understand. They also prepared crafts and picture books for each child, which was very thoughtful. Thank you Ctrip for your excellent service. I will continue to support the Ctrip platform.

Tour guide Lisa was great to guide us to the forbidden city. We learned a lot of the history of it and she was very friendly and professional.

I'd like to share my experience. It's warm on the wall on January 8th. The temperature is just above freezing. Those accustomed to Far Eastern and Siberian winters with temperatures of -20-30 degrees Celsius will find it very comfortable. We haven't tried the green route. It's shorter (1.5 hours) and easier. We climbed the red route (2.5 hours) from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, taking 40 minutes each way. From 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, it's a stroll. From 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, it's a dash up steep steps. The steps are of varying sizes. Watch your step. Wear light shoes. And don't dress too warmly. A wet back, and maybe even something else, will ruin the experience. It's better to dress lightly and sportily, and pack some extra gear in case the wind picks up.
