Reviews: Milford Sound Coach & Cruise ex Te Anau Stunning Views with Lunch
Guest User2024-03-07
The trip was well-organised, starting and finishing on time. Our bus driver/tour guide, Russel, demonstrated his superb expertise by blending great driving and comprehensive local knowledge, with subtle humour and wit. The Milford Sound cruise and buffet lunch continued along this vein, making the trip a wonderful experience. While the overall coach conditions were satisfactory, more seat cushioning would improve comfort levels, given the extended times of the return trip. Well Done.

I would like to commend Pure Milford for allowing me to change my tour a day earlier due to weather. I contacted Backpacker Deals two days prior because many people in Queenstown were disappointed that their tour had been cancelled due to risk of avalanche. They didn’t help me and told me that my tour was still going on the day that I booked which was 100% chance of rain. I literally contacted Pure Milford in transit from Queenstown to Te Anau in email praying someone would respond and they did. They had two seats open the same day that I arrived and allowed me to change. If not, I would have missed this very valuable opportunity of my life. Brendan is an excellent driver with a nice sense of humor thoroughly explaining everything along the way making everyone laugh and enjoying themselves with music. I thoroughly enjoyed my bus tour with him and the various stops along the way. Their boat tour on a catamaran was awesome! Lots of room to view from various areas. I highly recommend this tour. You won’t regret it!

Reviews: From Manapouri: Doubtful Sound Wilderness Day Trip
Guest User2026-02-27
The weather was spectacular! Having the chance to explore such untouched wilderness is a true blessing in today’s busy world. I truly loved this tour. The only thing missing was the '5-minute silent moment' I had read about in other reviews, unfortunately, that didn’t happen during our trip. Despite that, it was still a wonderful.
Reviews: Doubtful Sound Wilderness Day Cruise from Manapouri

Absolutely fantastic. Boat from Manapouri to the other side of Manapoori Lake was about 45 min, then scenic drive for another 45 mins to set off for a great boat ride along Doubtful Sound until the very beginning of Tasman Sea (ca. 2,5h return). The views were spectacular, also because we were lucky with weather as it was sunshine, not usual in this place which sees 240 rainy days a year and annaul rain fall of about 6-8 metres. One of the highlights of the trip was a few minutes pf total silence with engines turned off and all visitors asked to be quiet. That was a moment to remember! Guides and all staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the bus driver who shared lots pf interesting stories of the area and water power plant. Altogether the trip it took almost 7h, as we set off at 10.30 am and returned to Manapouri at 5.10 pm. Bring your own food or you can buy sandwiches, snacks and soft drinks at the bar on the boat. We did also Milford Sound cruise which was great too, if you like this type of activity and have time, dont hesitate to book both. If I had to choose one, I would choose Doubtful Sound.

We took the All Day Doubtful Sound trip with Baruch from Queenstown. We had a wonderful day. It was our anniversary so made for a special day. Our guide/bus driver Baruch was excellent; friendly, fun, professional and so knowledgeable all wrapped up! We really enjoyed all Baruch's knowledge on all things Kiwi! Very careful driving, even on the bumpy windy roads (which weren't that much). Everything about the tour was organized well; buses and boats. Our guide on the Doubtful Sound cruise was excellent. The picnic lunch was delicious. We would definitely take another Realnz tour.
