Old Quebec

Old Quebec is a historic district in North America that retains its complete city walls. It was founded by French explorer Samuel de Champlain in the early 17th century and was once the capital of New France. The old city is divided into the Upper Town and Basse-Ville, and is still surrounded by fortifications such as walls, bastions, and gates. The Upper Town is situated on the high ground of Cap Diamant, with the Château Frontenac standing at its peak as a landmark of the old city. The Dufferin Terrace, located right next to the castle, offers sweeping views of the magnificent St Lawrence River. Basse-Ville is built along the river and centers around Place Royale, where the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church is located. The old city is home to numerous churches and convents, with stone houses, copper roofs, and French-style facades creating a unified and unique streetscape. The Upper Town and Basse-Ville are connected by a cable car, or you can walk between them along the Breakneck Stairs, experiencing the legacy of centuries of French colonial culture on the uneven cobblestone streets.Canada · Quebec City

Quartier Petit Champlain is the birthplace of Old Quebec and is often considered one of the oldest commercial streets in North America. The street is narrow and paved with cobblestones, lined with stone cottages. Historically, fishermen, dockworkers, and shipbuilders lived here for generations, while today it is filled with rows of small handicraft and souvenir shops, as well as galleries and restaurants. Many shops are run by local artists and artisans, and strolling through it, you can easily feel as if you are in a small European town. There are many noteworthy details on the street. The massive murals painted on the building gables use trompe-l'œil techniques to depict the fires, landslides, and wars that this district has experienced. The Breakneck Stairs at one end connect to the Upper Town, and the platform in the middle of the stairs is a viewpoint for overlooking the entire street.Canada · Quebec City

Montmorency Falls is a waterfall formed at the mouth of the Montmorency River. It is very powerful, with a drop of 83 m. Large volumes of water pour over the sheer cliff and fall straight down, producing a deafening roar and a majestic sight. There are many viewing angles. A suspension bridge spans the cliff top, and standing on the bridge you can look down at the torrent as it drops beneath you. Hundreds of steps and viewing trails built into the cliff lead down to the base of the falls, where you can look up at the breathtaking curtain of water. From the surrounding high ground you can also see the St. Lawrence River and L'Ile-d'Orleans Regional County Municipality. In warm weather, a via ferrata route is set up on the cliff, allowing climbers to ascend along fixed cables for a closer, different perspective of the falls.Canada · Beauport

The Citadelle of Québec dominates Cap Diamant, the natural high point of Québec City, with the St Lawrence River flowing below the cliff, offering panoramic views of the old city's rooftops and the river. Construction of this fortress was begun by the British in the 1820s and took over a decade to complete. The layout of its five bastions follows the system of the French military engineer Vauban, and it is known as the "Gibraltar of the Americas" because it guards the strategic waterway. It is connected to the walls of Old Québec, making Québec one of only two cities in North America that still retain complete city fortifications. The fortress remains an active military installation, where soldiers' daily drills and public tours take place in the same area. Every summer, the long-standing tradition of the Changing of the Guard ceremony is held on the parade ground, with soldiers marching in formation to the sound of military music.Canada · Quebec City

The St. Lawrence River is an international river. It originates from the United States, flows through Canada, and flows into the Gulf of St. Lawrence in the Atlantic Ocean, with a total length of 1,287 kilometers. It is of great geographical and economic significance to the United States and Canada. The St. Lawrence River is located in the lower reaches of the Niagara Falls, a natural wonder of the world. It undertakes the water system from Lake Ontario and forms the upper section of the St. Lawrence River. On this section of the river, due to the complex topography of the riverbed and the undulating terrain, many small islands are formed. Created a strange and beautiful landscape of the St. Lawrence River - the Thousand Islands Scenery. Large and small islands are dotted with different shapes. The island is shady and lush, like emeralds inlaid on azure brocade; the buildings on the island are of different styles, ranging from medieval castle-style manors, exquisite gardens, and modern resorts. , and miniature miniature islands, with just one house "floating" on the water. Sitting on the upper deck of the open cruise ship, looking up at the blue sky and white clouds, facing the gusts of breeze, looking at the endless clear water and changing islands, the scenery is picturesque and beautiful, just like being in a paradise in a dream, which is intoxicating. Private yachts have become the main means of transportation here, and it is also a symbol of the status and status of these rich people. The water speedboat shuttled, rolling up white waves, like embroidering beautiful patterns on the satin nightgown. There are two islands in the Thousand Islands that are hot spots for viewing. One is bigger and the other is smaller, only about eight meters apart, and there is a small bridge connecting the two islands. This small bridge, only eight meters long, has become the shortest bridge across national borders in the world.Canada · La Haute-Cote-Nord Regional County Municipality

Covering an area of about 1,510 square kilometers, the Tomblang Mountains Regional National Park is one of the larger and older parks in the province. The park is rich in vegetation, with beautiful lakes, rivers, forests, rare plants such as silver maples and red oaks, and a wide variety of animals. The park consists of 3 parts, the fully developed part is called the DiableSector area, where the beautiful Lac Monroe is located. There are good hiking trails in this area, and you can walk to the waterfalls in about 20 minutes. There are also some trails suitable for biking, and you can also rent canoes to play on the lake. Just a 10-minute drive east is the Pimbina Sector, a visitor center offering eskimo and canoe rentals, as well as basic campsites. Particularly worthwhile is the Carcan Trail, which extends to the summit of the park, with a total length of 14.4 kilometers and beautiful scenery along the way. The L'Assomption Sector, to the east, is the more primitive part of the park, with hiking trails, secluded cottages and remote campsites. In winter, the road is often blocked by heavy snow, and vehicles cannot enter. At this time, it is the peak season for cross-country skiing and sledding in the other two areas, and there are often huge crowds.Canada · Lac-des-Dix-Milles

Located on the north side of the Plaza de Armas, all the shops maintain the appearance before the 18th century. The signs of the shops are simple in style and written in ancient French, which is very flavorful. To the northwest of the square, through St. Anne's Street, there is a Ruede Tresor Street, where many street portraitists paint their paintings randomly on the walls. Usually this street is also a place with more tourists.Canada · Quebec City

The cobblestone streets of Old Quebec City are uneven, and the wheels of my suitcase clattered loudly. Houses huddled together on the slopes, their wrought-iron railings rusted, small flowers adorning their windowsills. The aroma of bakery steamed through the alleyways, and around the corner, an old man played the accordion, his melody slow and gentle. Reaching the castle, the St. Lawrence River shimmered grey beneath, and the wind chilled my face. At sunset, the shadows of the city walls stretched long, smoke rose from the chimneys, and the whole city was enveloped in a quiet, golden twilight.

Located in the old town of Quebec, near the cruise ship terminal, you can walk down the stairs or spend a little money to take the cable car down. Petit Champlain Street is not long and is built along the mountain, but there are many shops, especially restaurants and bars. The road is still paved. A bit French!

Montmorency Falls is an alternative to Niagara Falls. It is less crowded than Niagara and quieter. A nice place to stroll in the park.

The star-shaped fortress castle is a tourist attraction that I discovered by chance while strolling in the old town of Quebec City. I only knew what the attraction was after I entered the fortress and saw the name on the wall. I didn’t really see the star shape because I was in the city.

I really like this place and it is worth visiting. When I came from Quebec in early October, some maple leaves had already turned red. There were not many tourists and the weather was sometimes cloudy and sometimes sunny, but the red maple leaves were really beautiful.
