Victoria Square (VictoriaSquare) is the core of Birmingham city center. It is not large and easy to find. Buildings such as City Hall, City Council, Queen Victoria Statue, Iron Man Sculpture and other buildings surround Victoria Square, and the famous Bath Girl Hot Spring in the center of the square is a very conspicuous symbol here. Before and after Christmas, there will be lively Christmas markets in the two squares. When the weather is good, you can bask in the sun on the squares, or sit by the fountain for a while, which is not bad.Birmingham · 1.2 km from downtown

Birmingham's Chinatown is not far from the city and is not small. There are various Chinese restaurants, travel agencies and grocery stores here, and it is also a place where local Chinese are concentrated. Here, you can buy all kinds of goods from China, but the advantage is that you can basically communicate and buy and sell goods in Chinese, and you don't have to worry too much about language problems. The Chinese restaurants all over the street have saved the homesickness of many overseas travelers. The dazzling array of Cantonese cuisine, Sichuan hot pot, refreshments, and the Chinese signboards all over the street make people particularly friendly.Birmingham · 1.4 km from downtown
Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple, Tividale

Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple, Tividale

4
The Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple, Tividale, is an important place of worship for the local Hindu community. Dedicated to Venkateswara, also known as Balaji, the temple is a place where devotees often come to pray, make offerings, and participate in religious festivals. The architecture features a South Indian style, with the entrance tower, carvings, and shrines creating a solemn atmosphere, while the interior houses a prayer hall, lamp-lighting areas, and shrines for worship. Visitors can experience Hindu rituals, music, and vegetarian culture, or simply visit quietly during opening hours. Shoes must typically be removed before entering, and modest attire is recommended. Please avoid loud talking, and be aware that photography may be restricted in some areas. Please observe on-site signage. The temple is well-connected by bus and road, making it easily accessible from Birmingham and the West Midlands area. It can get crowded during festivals, so it is recommended to check opening arrangements in advance. This space serves as both a place of faith and a window into South Asian community culture and religious traditions, making it suitable for visitors interested in architecture, religion, and multiculturalism.Oldbury · 9.9 km from Birmingham

Shakespeare's Birthplace

Stratford-upon-Avon, 180km west of London, is where the playwright Shakespeare was born and died. Shakespeare's Birthplace (also known as Shakespeare's House) is located on the north side of Henry Street in the town. It is a two-storey residence with a loft. It has a quaint half-timbered structure, a sloped tile roof, an exterior wall of primary earth color, and windows that protrude outside the wall. And the portico make this 16th century old house special among the surrounding buildings. It is now a popular attraction in the UK and is visited by many tourists. Walking into this old house, you will see furniture that is completely in accordance with Shakespeare's life, and the walls are decorated with exquisite paintings. Shakespeare was born here and spent his childhood and adolescence here. The former residence displays Shakespeare's handwriting, coins of the year, IOUs from friends who borrowed money from Shakespeare and other items. The cradle where he slept as a child can be seen in the bedroom where he was born. The house also houses a workshop by Shakespeare's father, John. When visiting, I often encounter actors performing in the house such as "Hamlet" and other bridges, which is very interesting. Behind the house is a beautiful small garden, and sometimes there are open-air theater performances. The actors' exaggerated language, expressions, and actions are exactly the style of Shakespeare's plays. Because you can only buy a combined ticket, you can also visit Hall's Croft, Nash's House & New Place, and Shakespeare's Grave after seeing Shakespeare's birthplace. These three places are relatively close to Shakespeare's birthplace, just walk there. Hall's House was the residence of Shakespeare's daughter Susannah and her husband, Dr. Hall, and was a mansion at the time. Nash's House is the home of Shakespeare's granddaughter and husband Nash. There is a new house next door that Shakespeare bought, and it is also the place where he wrote "The Tempest" and other later works and died. And Shakespeare's grave is also in the town. If you have enough time, you can also buy a five-house pass (ShakespeareFiveHousePass), you can visit two more attractions. One is Anne Hathaway's Cottage, the home of Shakespeare's wife, which is especially beautiful in the summer. The second is Mary Arden's Farm, the home of Shakespeare's mother, which is still in operation. These two places are 10-20 minutes' drive from Shakespeare's birthplace, and you can take a sightseeing bus to go there. In addition to visiting several former residences related to Shakespeare, you can also stroll around the town at will, the scenery is good, and there are Shakespeare elements everywhere. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants and souvenir shops in town, and it's nice to sit down for a coffee, a bite to eat or send a postcard.Stratford-upon-Avon · 34.8 km from Birmingham

National Trust - Birmingham Back to Backs

It is the surviving backtoback building in Birmingham and is now maintained as a National Trust museum. These buildings are representative of thousands of similar houses of the year, which were courtyards of workers' quarters in the 19th century. At the end of the 18th century, due to the discovery of coal mines around Birmingham and the vigorous development of other industries, especially the jewelry industry, a large number of industrial workers came here to look for job opportunities. A wall is added in the middle of the house, and one family lives in the front, and the other family lives in the back, commonly known as "back to back". Back-to-back architectural styles were all the rage in Birmingham from the mid-19th to the mid-20th centuries due to a rapidly expanding population, and at one point a quarter of the inhabitants lived in such buildings. At that time, most of the immigrants who lived here were immigrants from Asia. Most of them made some small handicrafts in their own small workshops, such as buttons, glass, wooden furniture, leather, tailors or jewelry. The interior decoration of the room has been carefully designed to fully reflect all aspects of the life of the inhabitants of that year.Birmingham · 1.4 km from downtown

Right in the city center, very close to New Street Railway Station. You can walk there to see both the new buildings and the historical old buildings! It is almost a must-visit place when visiting Birmingham! After the tour, you can also visit the nearby museums.

There are Chinese Super League, restaurants, and many other specialty restaurants to choose from. It's not hard to find something to eat here. However, the food at this restaurant was a bit disappointing.

This is quite a meaningful place, especially if you like Shakespeare. Shakespeare was a wealthy second-generation official in his early life, but his family fell on hard times, leading him to seek a living in London, where he rose to fame.

The Back to Back House Museum is located on Hurst Street in Birmingham. It consists of four houses built in different eras. The furnishings inside are restored according to the lives of people at that time, so that we can understand the living conditions of Birmingham people in different periods and the development of the times. The houses here have a history of four to five hundred years. They are typical old British buildings. The interior decoration also retains the layout and furniture of the previous residents. It has a very medieval feel and is worth a walk and a look.
