Things to do in Avanos

Kaymaklı Underground City gives a much clearer picture of everyday life beneath Cappadocia. The city has eight levels, with four open to visitors, and the route passes former stables, kitchens, storage rooms, wineries, living spaces and huge round stone doors used to block the tunnels.Follow the red arrows for the main route and the blue arrows for the exit. Wear sneakers because the stone steps are uneven and some passages are narrow and steep. It gets cooler deeper underground, but I was comfortable in a T-shirt. During my visit, the entrance fee was €13 and opening hours were 08:00–20:00. Visitors with claustrophobia, asthma, high blood pressure or heart conditions should consider the tight spaces before entering.

I made a lovely, charming vase during this pottery experience. Since it's only dried, I can't put fresh flowers in it, but I can display dried flowers. I actually wanted to make a wine vase, but that would have been impossible. Before the experience, they gave a lecture about the history of the place and pottery. We were also served chai and wine. Drinking wine from this pottery makes it taste even better!

Cappadocia not only has beautiful hot air balloons, but also has many unique geographical features that form stones of various shapes. Ortassa Castle is also a very special place with many cave hotels.
