Cueva Ventana

Cueva Ventana is situated on a typical karst limestone landscape on the northern coast of the Caribbean. Its Spanish name means "Window Cave," and it is a highly recognizable natural landmark in Puerto Rico. The cave stands high on a cliff approx. 700 feet above the Rio Grande de Arecibo valley, sculpted by long-term geological processes. The most distinctive feature of the cave is its naturally formed giant arched rock opening, which acts like a viewing window carved into the mountain. Standing at the opening and looking out, you can take in the winding river, vast pastures, and layered mountains, with the lush green valley unfolding before your eyes. This expansive view attracts many photography enthusiasts. The cave walls also preserve ancient petroglyphs left by the indigenous Taíno people. These prehistoric imprints bear witness to the early cultural history of Puerto Rico, adding profound cultural depth to the natural landscape.
