Apollo Bay is located in the middle section of the Great Ocean Road, backed by the green hills of the Otway Ranges and facing a crescent-shaped golden bay. To the east, the coastal cliff road winds toward Lorne, while to the west, it leads to the Twelve Apostles and other prime views along the Great Ocean Road, making it a common stopover for self-drive trips. The town developed from a fishing village and remains a port for fishing boats on the Great Ocean Road. Seafood like rock lobster, abalone, and other catches can be served on the table shortly after being brought ashore, making the seafood bistros and fish and chips shops by the pier the town's signature. The main beach in front of the town has fine sand and a gentle slope, making it suitable for swimming and surfing. A short walk up the gentle slope to the north leads to Marriner's Lookout, where you can take in the entire bay and the town's rooftops. Every year, southern right whales migrate along this coast, and you have a chance to see their water spouts while standing on the shore or at a high vantage point. Not far south of the town, the Marengo Reefs Marine Sanctuary is very close to the shore. At low tide, tide pools are exposed among the reefs, where small creatures like starfish and crabs are clearly visible. Groups of Australian fur seals can often be seen sunbathing on the near-shore rocks year-round, and you can also take a kayak out for close-up snorkeling. Behind the town, in the Great Otway National Park, you'll find the Maits Rest Rainforest Walk, which is built over a gully of tree ferns, where you can often spot wild koalas in the eucalyptus forest. The Great Ocean Walk, which spans over 100 km, also starts here and leads all the way to the Twelve Apostles, allowing hiking enthusiasts to experience a section of the coastline nearby.Apollo Bay · 284m from downtown

The Otway Fly Treetop Walk is a 1.9-kilometer-long circular plank road that hovers above the treetops and is the longest and tallest steel structure plank road in the world. Walking on the top of the extremely tall rainforest is quite "God's perspective". Fireworks are prohibited in the park, and the plants in the rainforest have not changed much since 1.8 million years ago, making it one of the oldest rainforests on earth.Weeaproinah · 18.7 km from Apollo Bay

This ancient temperate rainforest is known for its towering rowan trees, dense tree ferns and moss-covered towering trees, some of which are over a century old, creating a pristine and mysterious ecological environment. The walk is paved with wooden boardwalks, making it easy for visitors of all ages to explore. The tour to Great Ocean Road was taken by the guide named Vance who is frequent with both English and Chinese. Since I only speak English and Japanese, it was helpful that guide can speak English too.The tour was operated quite strictly about time, so the tour went so smoothly than I expected. In the tour, you don’t need to worry about the problem of language because the guide always left the paper which show what time you should come back to bus.The guide Vance is kind and funny, and I really enjoyed his guide and recommendation. And I really enjoyed the beautiful view and it was stunning!!!!

A quaint, sleepy little town about mid-way along the Great Ocean Road. Stunning beach with absolutely awesome sunrises. Gets very busy with tourists from Melbourne (and elsewhere) in Summer, but in the quieter months you'll practically have the place to yourself

Enjoy the rainforest scenery and watch Australia's rare animals in the Otway National Park. There are many forest hiking routes in the national park for tourists. Tourists who like to get close to nature can also stay here for a while and experience the zero contact with nature.

As soon as we got up early in the morning, we went to the Apollo Bay Tourist Information Center for a walk. There is a small lighthouse inside where you can go in and take pictures👅 There was also a small market that day, which was like a treasure hunt~ Let’s take a look around and head up to Otway Fly Treetop Adventures. There are many facilities here. I participated in the Treetop Walk, which is to walk on the elevated rainforest trail and overlook the natural wild ecology of the forest. The spiral tower is about 15 stories high. Treetop Walk is a rainforest walking experience of about 1 hour, overlooking the ferns of the rainforest. Features a 600-meter-long and 47-meter-high treetop canopy walkway The trees here are really huge, it’s shocking to see it with the naked eye🙀The magical power of nature👍🏼
