A great historic restaurant next to the Lincoln Theatre. The chili, burgers, hot dogs, smoked sausage and fries are all great. We have been several times and always enjoy going back.

In 1958, newlyweds Ben and Virginia Ali spent $5,000 to renovate a building at 1213 U Street in Northwest Washington, DC. The building was built in 1910 and was originally a silent movie theater called the Minnehaha Theater. Later, Harry Beckley, one of the earliest black detectives in Washington, DC, converted it into a billiard hall. After 65 years of continuous efforts, Ben’s Chili Bowl has become more and more prosperous and has become a must-visit restaurant when visiting Washington, DC.
