The bean curd noodles are very fragrant and delicious. There are a lot of diners coming and going. The taste is good.
Three days in Zhangzhou Old Town isn't enough! Locals highly recommend this snack bar 🐮 This small Southern Fujian city hides countless local delicacies! Every old shop in the old town is over 20 years old. Following the taxi driver's recommendation, I ate here three days in a row. 1⃣ Laoguo Triangle Cake 📍 Taikoo Bridge 8-10 A must-try traditional snack in Zhangzhou! The triangular rice cake is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, a bit like radish cake. It's delicious when hot out of the oven and worth trying. A small portion is 3 yuan. 2⃣ Lao Kang's Ancestor Fried Rice Cake 📍No. 159, Yan'an South Road I bought a salty fried rice cake. The texture is unique. The pancake skin on the fried side is very crispy after heating. The filling tastes a bit like Taiwanese taro cake, but with a different texture. I could tell there were carrots, minced meat, and vegetables inside. It's only 4 yuan each. 3⃣ Ah Fu Oyster Omelette 📍No. 3-3, Xinhua Southwest Third Street I asked the fried rice cake owner which place had the best oyster omelette. She pointed directly to the one next door, saying they'd been in their hometown for over 20 years and had only recently opened in the ancient city. She told me to sit inside while she heated up the fried rice cake and brought it to me. I heard their oyster omelet and rice noodle soup are a perfect pairing. Their oyster omelet is made the Zhangzhou way. Instead of using the Taiwanese sweet potato starch thickener, they use rice batter to coat the oysters before deep-frying them. It's quite unique, a bit like fried eggs, crispy and crunchy. It's a completely different experience, and delicious. The oyster noodle soup is quite rich, with oysters, pig blood, shredded pork, and celery. The rice noodle soup itself has a certain saltiness, and the oysters are particularly fresh. The soup also pairs well with it. This is actually the best rice noodle soup I've ever had. A bite of oyster omelet followed by a bite of rice noodle soup is a perfect match. The greasiness of the oyster omelet is balanced by the rice noodle soup. It's a perfect match. Two servings totaled 35. 4⃣ Xiaohong Four-Fruit Soup (Gucheng Branch) 📍Shop 5, Building 10, South Xinhua West Commercial Street I ordered the original four-fruit soup and added a bunch of toppings: mung beans, red beans, pineapple, glutinous rice balls, rice balls, and sweet potatoes. It was quite filling. The bowl wasn't large, but it filled up more than half. Adding shaved ice, almost every bite was different. A bowl was only 7. Yangji Four-Fruit Soup across the street is also great. If Xiaohong's is too crowded, I recommend going across the street. 5⃣ Niu's Confucius Temple Juice 📍No. 200-1, Qingnian Road Sugarcane and Pien Tze Huang juice—what a divine combination! It clears heat, detoxifies, and is refreshingly sweet. Buying a bottle while strolling through the ancient city is so satisfying! 6️⃣ Yuanquan Songyue Shengtang (Shengyue Hot Pot) 📌No. 2 Xinhua North Road It's like a local ma la tang. You can choose from a variety of noodles and then select your toppings. They'll be cooked right for you. The large pot is incredibly generous, and the broth is incredibly fresh. Four dishes without the noodles cost 10 yuan. 7️⃣ Meizai Tofu Pudding 📌No. 7, Minzhu Road, Complex Building, Dongputou Subdistrict The tofu pudding vermicelli was unexpectedly strange, as the tofu pudding dispersed into the broth with a spoon. It only added a little tofu pudding texture, but the vermicelli and broth were the main ingredients. The vermicelli was short and chewy. 8️⃣ Tieniuge's Famous Southern Fujian Snacks · Minnan Bibimbap 📌 No. 92, Nanchang Road I saw they had a "Only by Working Hard Can You Win" combo, so I stopped in to try it. The five-spice rolls and shacha pork tenderloin were delicious, but the radish cake was just okay. Only add chili powder or use it as a main course. They also have free refills of ice cream, which was pretty good. 9️⃣ Gongyuan Monk Dried Tofu Noodles 📌 No. 4, Xiangfanghua North Road The dried tofu and noodles were both cold, and the noodles were clumpy. I also ordered a bowl of dried tofu soup and added the cold dried tofu to make it more flavorful. The soup wasn't very flavorful, so adding some chili improved it. The five-spice rolls were the best, but overall, they were average. The good thing about them was that they were affordable and delicious, and a portion like this was only 10 yuan. 🔟Xiaowen Triangle Pancakes I ordered the taro flavor, 3 pieces. They were dry and not very tasty. If they were freshly made, they would probably be better. #most-asked-about-on-friends #local-only-food #National-Day-Travel-Diary #weekend-trip #summer-drive-in-spots
