D了个YAlthough not located within Dukezong Ancient Town, it's just a stone's throw away. Its heritage and internet-famous status attract numerous check-in visitors. The century-old residence houses a restaurant on the first floor and a cafe on the second, offering both, and I chose to have dinner here.
The house, called Bina Old House (the former residence of the Song family's Binada), is the century-old residence of the Song family (the Tibetan surname Bina), a chieftain family of Shangri-La. The architectural style is that of traditional Shangri-La Tibetan shingle houses. Local residents adapted to local conditions, using local materials and techniques passed down through generations. The photo room utilizes the grain of local spruce trees, split into planks and used as roof tiles. The house is supported by twenty-five massive solid wooden pillars, forming a "four horizontal and four vertical" pattern, totaling sixteen spaces. Three sides are rammed earth up to 1.5 meters thick, incorporating yak bones, Mani stones, and wolf teeth. The walls are clad in white clay, while one side features wooden plank walls and a corridor. The front eaves feature a double-layered arched eaves, carved or painted with auspicious patterns. The dragon head is a fusion of Han and Tibetan craftsmanship.
The century-old house, with its Tibetan charm, is a great place for photos. Many people come here to check in, so business is brisk and the place is quite busy. However, the food itself was just average. The beef was so tough it was almost impossible to chew, and I barely managed to eat much. The overall experience was average.

A treasure trove of old houses just steps from Dukezong Ancient Town. We had the pleasure of dining at the Bina Old House (the former residence of the Song family, Binada). ✨ This century-old house was once the home of the Song family, the chieftains of Shangri-La! Address: Approximately a 5-minute walk from Dukezong Ancient Town. 🏠 Check out the Tibetan-style flash room architecture and get ready for a photo op! The entire building utilizes Shangri-La's unique Tibetan shimmering room technique. 25 massive solid wooden pillars support 16 spaces 🏗️ Favorites: ▫️1.5-meter-thick rammed earth walls (reportedly infused with yak bone! 🦴) ▫️Carved dragon heads combining Chinese and Tibetan craftsmanship 🐉 ▫️Wooden corridors and snow-capped mountain landscapes 🌨️ The lighting creates a truly atmospheric atmosphere at night~ 🍽️ Dining Experience Repo: ✅ Influencer check-in spot 📸 Highly popular ✅ First-floor restaurant + second-floor cafe ✅ Perfectly Tibetan decor ⚠️ Honest Dish Review: The beef was incredibly overcooked!!! I couldn't chew it at all 😭 The overall taste was average. Those looking for a culinary experience might be disappointed. 💡 Tips: I recommend going around 4 or 5 PM to avoid the crowds and capture the most beautiful photos of the old house in the sunset. ✨ The second-floor terrace is fantastic for photos! #Shangri-LaExplore #CenturyOldHouse #TibetanRestaurant #DukezongAncientCity #365DayPhotographyPlan

A trip to Shangri-La is a must for taking Tibetan costume photos. We rented our own costumes and styling, and brought our own cameras for the shoot. 📷 Since we were on a tight schedule, we didn't plan to travel far, so we found a very photogenic standalone Tibetan restaurant in Dukezong Ancient Town that offers both dining and afternoon tea. 🎬 You have to pay a small fee to get in, so the food isn't very good value for money. But the scenery is stunning, so consider it a venue fee. It can be crowded, so avoid peak meal times. #ScenicPhotoGuide #NicheDiscovery
