Zhaoxing Dong Village, Guizhou (Southeast Guizhou) Tucked away among terraced fields, this Dong village is often visited by singing elders beneath its drum tower and wind-and-rain bridge. Experience tie-dyeing, listen to Dong folk songs, and gaze at the village shrouded in mist in the early morning. Don't miss a visit to Dongjialao for a sour fish soup with dipping sauce (the essence is chili paste and Litsea cubeba oil). The sour soup, naturally fermented with rice broth, is rich and appetizing. Pair it with freshly slaughtered rice paddy fish or local beef.
