We spent five days traveling from the Yi-dominated Daliang Mountains in southwestern Sichuan, passing through Leshan, to Daofu in the Tibetan region of Ganzi in northwestern Sichuan, and then returning to Chengdu via Xinduqiao. This is arguably the most unique loop of western Sichuan to date, offering diverse scenery and cultural experiences at a comfortable pace, traversing both wild and exquisite landscapes. It's hard to describe! 📆[Itinerary Guide] 📆 Itinerary: Day 1: Xichang - Meigu County, Daliangshan - Leshan Depart from Xichang Qingshan Airport at 11:00 AM. Have lunch in Meigu County. Check in at Fangju Designer B&B (Emeishan Scenic Area Branch) at 9:00 PM. Day 2: Leshan - Daofu County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Depart in the morning, first stop: Fuhu Temple, where we enjoyed a vegetarian meal. Second stop: Yepo Coffee. Depart at 2:00 PM for the ten-hour journey. Check in at Yuke Yinka Manor in Daofu at 12:30 PM. Day 3: Daofu - Kangding Xinduqiao Depart at noon, four hours. Check in at Kangding Black Barley Manor (Xinduqiao Branch) in the evening. Day 4: Xinduqiao Town - Chengdu Eight hours. 🚗Transportation Guide: South to North: Depart from Xichang Qingshan Airport, travel five hours to Meigu County. From Meigu County to Leshan, take National Highway 348, four hours. From Leshan, exit the highway at Luding and take National Highway G318. Change to Provincial Highway S211 through Tibetan Danba County, then take Rural Road Y002 towards Dangling. From there, take an unnamed road to reach Tibetan Daofu County. North to South: Depart from Daofu, take National Highway G350 to Xinduqiao Town. West to East: Depart from Xinduqiao, take National Highway 318, detour to Kangding Airport, take Provincial Highway S434 to Ya'an, and then on to Chengdu. 🌟Trip Highlights: Upon arrival in Meigu County, be sure to visit the Dafengding National Nature Reserve and experience the panoramic views of the plains at an altitude of 4,600 meters! Approaching the Leshan section of National Highway 348 (Figure 6), you'll find scenery reminiscent of the treacherous Shu Road, winding through cliffs. Parking is convenient at Fangju Designer B&B (Emeishan Scenic Area Branch) (Emeishan Scenic Area Branch) (Figures 7/8), located right next to the entrance of the Emeishan Scenic Area. Several teahouses are free for guests, offering a wide selection of high-quality teas. We recommend stopping by Fuhu Temple to pay homage to the Peacock King, one of the great protectors of Tibetan Buddhism (Figure 9). Enjoy a complimentary Sichuan-style vegetarian hot pot meal in the dining hall for lunch. Gaoqiaoli Hantian Yepo Coffee is a newly popular outdoor spot (10/11/12), offering a comfortable reading atmosphere and excellent coffee. Yuke Yinka Manor on the Yuke Grassland in Daofu County is a safe haven for late-night arrivals. The owner's brother is a lama, and they'll be waiting for guests in the living room. Even after a long journey, they can sit down and enjoy a few cups of steaming butter tea. A luxurious outdoor tea table is available for guests to use by the river near the manor (Figure 18). En route to Xinduqiao, the Moshi Park scenic area is worth a visit! The restaurant at Kangding Black Barley Manor (Figure 19) near Xinduqiao is a prime spot for tasting. The ambiance and cuisine are first-rate, making it a top choice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's also a book bar next door with a wine list. From Xinduqiao to Chengdu, it's recommended to detour via Ganzi Kangding Airport (Figure 20).
