🗓️ Trip Overview Date: March 31 - April 3, 2024 Destination: Uluru - Ayers Rock Key Experiences: Desert sunrise, sunset on camelback, strolling around Ayers Rock 🚶‍♀️‍➡️ Accommodation: The Lost Camel Hotel (3 nights) 📍 Daily Itinerary Notes 🌅 March 31 | Arrival at Ayers Rock Resort Transportation: Fly to Connellan Airport and take the resort's shuttle 🚌 to the resort. Each hotel has its own pick-up sign near the airport. Accommodation: Stayed at The Lost Camel Hotel (the entire resort is expensive, and this one is a bit older). I was supposed to join the resort's own SEIT Uluru Highlights sunrise tour the next day, but I went to bed early. 🐪 April 1 | Sunrise Viewing 🌅 Things to Do: Original Plan: Join the Ayers Rock sunrise viewing tour. The actual situation: The official tour from the Strong Lightning Resort was canceled at the last minute without informing us in advance. We waited at the hotel entrance at 4 AM, but no one showed up to pick us up. We found a random tour driver and asked them to check with the company, who then told us that our booking wasn't in their system. We finally found a small sand dune area near the hotel, and surprisingly, the view was much better. We caught a glimpse of the sunrise. We then went to the National Park to see Ayers Rock up close. We bought an official bus ticket that allowed us to hop on and off as often as we wanted, but the bus schedule was a bit long, and the heat was unbearable. 😎 April 2nd (Tuesday) | Resort + Camel Ride to Watch the Sunset🌄 Morning: Because it was incredibly hot, we decided to just wander around the hotel. The resort is super small and there's not much else to do, so we even went to the hotel's own pool. Highlight: Camel ride to watch the sunset! An Australian activity! 🐪 Uluru Camel Tours' Camel to Sunset tour offers hotel pickup and drop-off. Enjoy a camel ride while viewing Ayers Rock and watching the sun slowly set (highly recommended). Afterward, we were served wine and some traditional snacks. 👋 April 3 (Wednesday) | Return to Sydney for Class Morning: Enjoy one last breakfast in Uluru, then take the resort's free shuttle to Connellan Airport for your flight back to Sydney. Restaurants/Food: Mangata Bistro & Bar Gecko's Cafe Ayers Wok Noodle Bar Walpa Lobby Bar And instant noodles from the resort convenience store 🫶 📌 Practical Tips and Experiences Climate Change: March and April can be extremely hot, so don't overpack your itinerary. Mornings and evenings are the best times for activities. Be sure to take a break and hydrate at noon.
