I’ve been in worse hotels, nothing really stood out as awful. It smelled ok and I have sensitive nose too. The bed and pillows were ok. The a/c could have worked better, we turned it down but I got warm. I wish they wouldn’t use such heavy comforters in the summer. But without it you’re stuck with just a sheet. They were still doing the bag it breakfast, so no waffles, but they had cereal, bagels, biscuits etc that were packaged. For one night, it was ok. Definitely needs some remodeling. The carpet on the third floor had a big hole in it.
Super 8 by Wyndham Meridian

You can’t beat this room for the price! The room was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. I’ve never stayed at a Super 8 so I didn’t know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The pressure of the shower was great and exactly what I needed after driving 12 hours. The only issue was the juice machine in the little cafeteria area wasn’t working. Other than that this was a great place. Will definitely stay here again when traveling through.

Such a nice, clean friendly place! Room was spotless and smelled wonderful. I was so pleasantly surprised. Honestly, freeway hotels are not always ”as advertised”, but this one was everything promised! Soft bed, fridge and microwave. Front desk super friendly. Would highly recommend!

When I checked in, I was not informed of the rooms not having microwave’s in them. I eat healthy on the road and I like to warm my food up in my room. After I came in from the gym and set to warm up my food only to discover their was no microwave. I call the front desk the agent said nope sorry, I have to come downstairs to the community microwave to warm up my food. At this point I am livid because I have to get dressed and go downstairs to warm up my food. When I get downstairs there is only one microwave in the entire hotel and it was disgusting! I had to clean the microwave as best as I could so that my food is not cooked an a disgusting microwave! I had to literally chisel the crap that was caked into the side of the microwave! It would have been ok and I could have planned accordingly had I been informed the room didn’t have a microwave. Probably wouldn’t have stayed here at all because of that. I am not happy with the communication and the fact the rooms are very small with no microwave’s. Will do my best to avoid this Hilton Brand from here on out.

Girl at front desk doesn't like her job! Rude! She wouldn't make eye contact and when asked the room rate to verify, she said as if I were bothering her ”can't tell you, you booked third party and they don't tell us” then proceeded to hand me the paperwork to sign for the room which clearly showed the rate! Really Lady! At least the amount was right. Room was not clean, toilet dirty, stuff on walls, someone else's old dirty sock on the floor by the A/C. A/C didn't cool and loudly groaned all night. Pool was closed while they cleaned up blood from an injury, however when they reopened it there were bloody rags left in the hallway to the pool. How do you say Biohazard! No Thanks! Breakfast was OK. Waitress served, no buffet. Scrambled eggs were brown on the bottom from sitting in whatever they were cooked in for to long and cold around the edges, so not fresh at all! Ordered toast which wasn't with the meal when served, had to ask for it. She then brought some really toasty toast (verge of being burnt) and before I said anything she said let me get you some better toast, which she did. Waitress was wonderful! The overall appearance of the hotel isn't bad, old trying to be modern. While waiting for the elevator I looked down at the carpet which has been there for many many years and I don't think cleaned ever. Very dirty, stained and wore. Just another sign of the level of management at this hotel. There are a lot of good reviews for this place and maybe we just got here on a bad day. If you do decided to stay at this place, look around, pay attention and make your own decision, I for one wasn't pleased!
Americas Best Value Inn Meridian

We've stayed in dirtier motels and scarier motels, but our one night at the America's ”Best Value” Inn in Meridian was the worst and most unpleasant stay we've ever had at any lodging establishment in 25+ years of cross-country road trips. It didn't start out badly, as the staff tried to accommodate us in an accessible room for the wife's bad knees. But then we discovered the air conditioning unit wouldn't blow at a temperature much below 70 degrees, which may not sound bad, but on a sweltering humid summer evening resulted in no effective cooling in the room at all, with most of the night spent in muggy near-90s unpleasantness. And all the other rooms had sold out for the night. We might have been able to forgive this, but the belligerence of a person identifying himself as the ”night manager” managed to make the evening far more unpleasant. After we registered a complaint at the front desk, he entered the room and stated in an antagonistic manner ”you are running the AC wrong”. We've visited hundreds of motels, and we know when an AC isn't working right, and we'd already tried resetting it and checking for blockage. He then accused us of deliberately damaging the AC unit when we looked under the cover for problems, and said that any ***** would know you ”need to open the windows for a while, just like in a car” to get the room cool. Again, our extensive experience in nearly every motel room we'd used in the past said otherwise - if the AC unit works, it'll cool just fine, and the last thing we needed was more hot humid smoky air in the room. We'd brought in fans from the van to try to keep us cool, and he said these low-wattage devices were ”drawing way too much power” (actually less than one incandescent bulb) and that we'd brought our misery upon ourselves by ”having all these things plugged in heating up the place”. I politely told him I disagreed, and he became even more agitated and angry. He finally left us alone around midnight, and we endured the heat and humidity as much as we could. The next morning, I went by the front desk to see if we could speak to someone else, but there was Mr. Personality again, who lit into me with renewed anger that I dared question his wisdom and brilliance in managing the property. I asked for a discount or refund, and his response was mocking. So we finished packing up and left, promising ourselves to avoid Meridian and hellholes like this in the future. We'd had good stays at other America's Best Value Inns, including a nice one in Heflin the night before, but this stop has us avoiding ABVIs or any other Red Lion properties in the future if we have any choice in the matter. There was one respite in all this aggravation - after all this trouble, in the middle of the night while trudging across the parking lot, a friendly kittycat came up and gave some good rubby-love when it was most needed. So promote the cat to manager, fire the ****, and start trying to salvage the wreck of customer service at this
