The Good: A great location, right in the heart of old Naples. The hotel is Old World charming. The hotel staff are very polite and accommodating. The breakfast was plentiful and good. The breakfast room, as seen in the photo, is beautiful. The bed/mattresses are very comfortable. The photos online enchanted us. We wanted to treat ourselves, so based on the photo depicting specifically the room type we booked for 6 nights, we expected a large, charming room, especially for the high price we paid (compared to other accommodations in Naples, and even in Rome and Florence). Rather than sharing a less-expensive (and larger) Air B&B with our travelling friends in Naples, we opted to splurge on this hotel. The Not-so-good: First day, they plunked us in their worst possible room; when we arrived around 4:30pm, they said the hotel was full and we were the last to arrive, so this was what was left. Annoying, given I had made the reservation almost six months earlier. The room was very small, with a teeny-tiny bathroom. The room was located right next door to the dining room and kitchen. Noisy. OK if you're spending only one night, but not six. At our request, they moved us the next day to a larger, better situated room but, still, a very small bathroom; not even a towel ring by the sink to hang a hand towel, and almost no counter space. The bidet drain plug wasn't in working order. The shower leaked water if the spray nozzle wasn't directed in the far corner, making showering a crowded challenge. Although there was a large dresser, it was for show only as the drawers were locked shut and unusable. The room was not as charming as we expected from the photos, and the chair/chaise were not comfortable (plus, we had to use the chaise for our open luggage). We scouted the hotel common areas hoping to find a place where we could sit with a drink or a book, but there was no comfortable seating anywhere, and very dim lighting throughout. For anyone who is uncomfortable taking small elevators, note that this is the only option to get from the ground floor to access the rooms. The hotel does not allow guests to take the stairs, which are restricted due to security reasons and only available to staff. Bottom Line: We enjoyed our visit to Naples and this hotel provided convenient access to sites/restaurants/metro. The friendly staff were terrific. But we didn't get what we expected for the price we paid.
