The autumn scenery in Huichuan Scenic Area, Xiaowutai, Yu County On October 3, 2024, 64 of us came to Yu County. Because Xiaowutai is a nature reserve and is currently not open, we were curious and wanted to visit Huichuan Scenic Area, which is close to Xiaowutai. This place has the most beautiful autumn scenery in the north. The ticket is half price at CNY 47, and the round-trip fare in the scenic area is CNY 30. If you don't buy a scenic spot bus ticket, it is about 2 kilometers to walk to the ticket gate, which takes half an hour. I took a car up the mountain. The winding mountain road has no scenery. It is just a climb all the way. There are some nondescript thatched huts similar to African natives on the mountain. There is a mountain god temple built in 2023 at the highest point. The main scenic spot of Huichuan is built along a mountain stream. There is a gurgling stream along the way, and waterfalls of various sizes converge into the mountain stream. You can walk down the wooden plank road to the ticket gate in 2 hours. A few hundred meters before the ticket gate is the return station of the scenic spot bus, and it is only a few minutes to the gate. Huichuan Scenic Area in Yu County is located in Songzhikouyu, Yu County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. It is located at the southwestern foot of Xiaowutai Mountain and is a canyon experience scenic area with primitive natural scenery as the core. Zhuolu, Zhangjiakou Starting from Deshengmen in Beijing and heading 130 kilometers north, you can reach Huangdi City in Zhuolu, Hebei. Huangdi City, also known as Xuanyuan City, is an ancient city site located on the west side of Fanshan Town in Zhuolu County. It is said that this is the ancient battlefield of the Battle of Banquan between the Yellow Emperor and the Yan Emperor, as well as the Battle of Banquan between the Yellow Emperor and Chiyou. Here, the Yellow Emperor's tribe united with the Yan Emperor's tribe to defeat Chiyou's tribe, leading to the Yellow Emperor unifying various tribes of China and establishing the first capital city in Chinese history. To this day, Zhuolu still preserves multiple sites and relics related to the culture of the three ancestors, such as Huangdi Spring, Chiyou's Three Villages, and the Hall of the Three Ancestors. The Battle of Banquan was a key battle in the establishment of the Huaxia ethnic group. There are various historical accounts regarding the exact location of the Battle of Banquan. Some believe it was in the southeast of today's Zhuolu County in Hebei Province, while others think it was within the borders of Changzhi in Shanxi, or Yanqing County in Beijing, or other places. However, regardless of the exact location, the Battle of Banquan is the most famous battle between the two ancient ancestors of the Chinese nation, the Yellow Emperor and the Yan Emperor. It holds significant importance in the ultimate formation of the Chinese nation and is therefore regarded as the battle that marked the beginning of Chinese civilization. Of course, this period of history is still largely in the realm of legend, with not much archaeological evidence to support it. Even the history of the Xia Dynasty is not yet clear, let alone the history before the Xia Dynasty. However, people today still tend to believe that this is the ancient battlefield of the Battle of Banquan, providing a focal point for their remembrance. Today's Zhuolu County is a small, unremarkable, and not very affluent county not far north of Beijing, with no visible traces of the tribal conflicts that took place here five thousand years ago.

One of my favorite hiking routes is through Beiling. High altitude and large alpine meadows make it one of the most popular routes in the suburbs of Beijing in summer. However, the Beiling Mountain route has different intensities. Which one should you choose? 🚶‍♂️1️⃣Route (1): Jiulongwa-Beiling Mountain-Huangcaoliang-Boyu🌟Route Intensity: The whole journey is about 18Km, with a climb of 700m and a descent of 1400m 🌠Route features: The most classic crossing route in Beiling Mountain. It is slightly more intense and is a beginner-advanced route. It is not recommended for novices and outdoor novices to try. The roads are mainly gravel roads. There are two steep slopes up and down. There is a 10 yuan entrance fee. The first section of the climb: the starting point - the top of Beiling Mountain is a climb. There is a small section of tree-lined paths. There is no shade in the meadow, so sun protection is required. The top of the mountain - Huangcaoliang, mainly descends. The first section is steep, and it will be slippery if it rains, making it easy to fall. Huang Caoliang - solid building, is the ascending road, which is relatively slow. But it takes some effort. Solid Building - Baiyu, the descending section is basically walking in the valley, and the slope is not small. If you have bad knees, I don’t recommend taking this route. This is also the regular route for camping in Beiling Mountain. The entrance fee is 10 yuan. 3️⃣Route (3): Kumbum Temple Village - Beiling Mountain - Kumbum Temple Village @Route Intensity: The whole journey is about 11km, with an ascent and descent of 800m Features of the route: The climb is slightly larger, similar to the 18-kilometer classic route. There are more gravels at the beginning and end of the road, and the middle section has a gentle slope that rises. The road conditions are better than before. (Self-driving can take this route, non-self-driving can end at Jiangshuihe Village) 4️⃣Route (4): Jiulongwa - Beiling Mountain - Baimugou - Jiangshuihe Village Route intensity: The total distance is about 18km, with a climb of about 900m. Features of the route: The mileage and difficulty are similar to the route to Baiyu. It goes up to Jiulongwa and down to Baimugou. The road conditions are similar to those to Baiyu. The second half is a highway. If you want to avoid taking the road, you can only go to Baimugou, which is about 15 kilometers. . This is an advanced route, not recommended for novices.
