Not Switzerland! I found a fairy tale secret place in Yunnan. I've been to Yunnan n times.
Not Switzerland! I found a fairy tale secret place in Yunnan.
I've been to Yunnan n times,
and finally went to Xueda Lake, which I've wanted to visit for a long time.
This is the only place in Shangri-La
where you can see the reflection of Meili Snow Mountain
and the golden mountain at sunrise.
There are very few tourists, and it's a beautiful secret place hidden in the mountains.
How to get there?
Navigate directly to Shuoda Village.
Route: Shangri-La - Benzilan - Deqin County - Foshan Township - Shuoda Village,
about 250 km, 5 hours.
The whole journey is on paved roads. The hardest part is the 50-minute drive up the mountain. Although it's a cement road, the winding and narrow roads are still challenging. New drivers should not try it easily.
Accommodation
Stay in Shuoda Village. If you want to see the golden mountain at sunrise, it's recommended to stay in Shuoda Village. Although it's a small village, the accommodation is still good.
Cost: about 600
Stay in Foshan Township. If you don't want to see the golden mountain at sunrise, you can stay at the foot of the mountain, which is Foshan Township.
Cost: 100–200
Travel time
The weather is stable in autumn and winter, and the chance of seeing snow-capped mountains is higher.
The trees have also turned yellow recently, so you can take pictures of both the snow-capped mountains and the autumn scenery. The yellow trees are expected to last until November, so hurry up!

Each group has its own distinctive dance styles, characterized by colorful costumes, rhythmic movements, and strong connections to nature and daily life.

🇨🇳 Travel hacks you need to know before going to Yunnan!
#travelhacks
Traveling to Yunnan, China, can be a transformative experience, with its dramatic landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant ethnic diversity. Here are some essential travel hacks to help you make the most of your trip to this enchanting region:
1. Best Time to Visit
Yunnan's climate varies widely due to its topography. For most travelers, the ideal time to visit is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These seasons offer mild weather and the least amount of rain, making it perfect for exploring Yunnan’s outdoor attractions like the Stone Forest, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Dali’s Cangshan Mountains.
2. Packing Essentials
Due to the varied elevations, packing layers is crucial. Include light clothes for warmer days and a heavy jacket for cooler evenings, especially if you plan to visit higher altitude areas like Shangri-La or trek in the mountains. Don’t forget comfortable walking shoes, as Yunnan offers numerous hiking and walking opportunities.
3. Transportation Tips
Yunnan is large and its attractions are spread out, so plan your travel routes wisely. Renting a car can be costly and driving in China requires a Chinese driving license. Instead, make use of Yunnan’s extensive bus network or consider hiring a private driver for more remote areas, which is affordable and convenient for accessing less touristy spots.
4. Cultural Etiquette
Yunnan is home to several ethnic minorities, each with their own customs and traditions. Showing respect is crucial; always ask for permission before taking photos of people or entering sacred areas. Learning a few basic phrases in Mandarin or local languages can also enhance your interaction with the locals.
5. Stay Connected
While traveling in Yunnan, staying connected can be challenging in remote areas. Purchase a Chinese SIM card for better coverage and download offline maps and translation apps which can be lifesavers during your travels.
6. Food and Water Safety
Yunnan cuisine is diverse and flavorful, but be cautious with street food. Stick to busy stalls with high turnover, and always ensure that your food is cooked thoroughly. Drink bottled or boiled water to avoid stomach upsets.
By following these travel hacks, you'll be better prepared to explore Yunnan’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural tapestry, ensuring a memorable and smooth journey. 😉💛

I recently visited Yunnan and discovered why it is known as the 'Land of Eternal Spring'
In China, many provinces are named after the mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas on the land, but only Yunnan's clouds come from the sky.
People use 'Land of Eternal Spring' to describe this realm. The complex monsoon alternations give the wandering clouds on the plateau the richest and most colorful changes. In the northwest of Yunnan, the coming and going of clouds creates a world of changing light and shadow.
-
Dali🏯
In Dali, the fixed combination is Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake. They are like an inseparable pair, blessing every man and woman who comes here.
The ancient architecture and the pure blue sky reflect each other.
Strolling by the Erhai Lake, with the breeze on your face, you feel the gifts of nature.
Here, you will understand why people say Dali is a place that heals the soul🍃
-
Lugu Lake🌊
Yunnan's clouds not only float in the sky but also in the water.
If you like tranquility, you can come to Lugu Lake, face the water, watch the white clouds pass by, watch time slip away.
The pure lake seems like nature's most perfect palette, with the reflection of the water and the mountains creating an interesting contrast.
Walking by the lake, it's like being in a fairy tale world, where the Naxi and Mosuo girls capture everyone's hearts🌸
-
Lijiang🌷
Everyone who has been to Lijiang has their own favorite aspect.
Wooden buildings and stone paths, flowing water and fresh flowers, but one combination is the most beloved by many, which is the old town and the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Standing at the foot of the snow mountain, time seems to stand still, making you feel peace and happiness🌙
-
Kunming✨
The sea of flowers in the Spring City, where the flowers bloom in a riot of colors, each with its own story.
Every corner has the warm smiles of people. Here, you will understand the brilliance of life🌺
-
Shangri-La⛰️
Shangri-La, first conceived over 80 years ago by a Western writer, in his depiction, there is an eternal land of peace and tranquility among the mountains in the Far East.
That plateau seems like the staircase to heaven.
The peaks of the snow mountains are shrouded in mist, and the people here, with their Buddhist faith, have souls as pure as snow and live simple and happy lives🏔️

Yunnan, every step is a poem, every scene is a painting.
The nature and culture here blend together, making it a place that captivates the heart. The beauty of Yunnan, like a dream, forever remains in my heart, becoming a precious experience in my life.
If you like it here, then while the time is right, take a trip to Yunnan
Turn the 'place you long for' into the 'place you have been'.
👭Go to Yunnan once, to appreciate the beautiful scenery of nature, to experience different ethnic customs🎉, to the sacred Tibetan area of Shangri-La, to see cattle and sheep running🐑, vast grasslands; to the ancient stone streets of Lijiang ancient city, to listen to the sound of small bridges and flowing water, ㊙️ to explore the stories hidden in the corners; 🌊 to the Cangshan Erhai in Dali, to see the wind, flowers, snow and moon, as if in a paradise.

Incredible Yunnan
Gazing at lake Lu Gu which is called the ‘mother lake’ by the Musuo people. View from the Walking Marriage Bridge in the #Musuo ethnic village. A display board at site entrance.
Of all the sights and places we visited in China, #Yunnan surpassed all expectations. The natural landscape is stunning and untouched. The sky is an unreal blue and the people you meet, including tourists, are all in hushed reverence of the stunning beauty.
We visited during the summer months in July when Yunnan’s temperate climate is at its best. #China #泸沽湖

The most beautiful travel destinations to set off in January
Picture 1-2 Sailimu Lake
In January, Sailimu Lake is more tranquil without the hustle and bustle of the peak tourist season. The movement of ice blocks makes the ice bubbles rise and fall.
It is known as the last tear of the Atlantic, with very clear water. When the lake is completely frozen, it will stage a blue ice scene that is no less than Lake Baikal.
Picture 3-4 Changbai Mountain
In January, Changbai Mountain seems to be in a fairy tale world, covered in silver and beautiful. You can enjoy the excitement and fun brought by snow sports such as skiing and snowboarding; you can also appreciate the magical rime landscape and feel the magic and grandeur of nature.
Picture 5-6 Yunnan · Yuanyang Terraces
Every year in December, the water is filled, and by January of the following year, it is the most beautiful time. Climbing to the top of the terraces, you can see the changing sea of clouds, the half-mountain villages that are looming, and the majestic view of the terraces. The scenery will change with the ethereal light and fog at any time, forming a beautiful landscape of mountains and fields.

Yunnan, it really satisfied all my fantasies about romance

Yunnan Da Xia Gu (Grand Canyon)
#fallingforfall
Standing at this Yunnan Da Xia Gu (Grand Canyon) was one of the most beautiful feelings that I have ever have. Standing here overlooking the mountains ranges, the flows of rivers and experiencing the cool weather of the fall season were the factors that contributed to this beautiful feeling.
Over here, one can also feel like he or she was in some kind of wuxia shows. The scene was like those wuxia fighters were at when they engaged in some kind of fights. It was certainly an unique experience.
Thus, I am thankful that the travel agency included this as among the places we visited when we were in Yunnan.

Shangri-La City In Yunnan
#fallingforfall
Shangri-La City is one of the places we visited when we visited Yunnan. I didn't know it was so beautiful. There was some Tibet vibe as the place resembled abit like Tibet. Furthermore, it was the fall season and thus the whole experience was very enjoyable.
Shangri-La is a county-level city in Northwestern Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China and is the location of the seat of the Dêqên Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, bordering Sichuan to the northwest, north, and east. Some of the highlights are the Old Town, Songzanlin Monastery with its numerous ceremonial pavilions, its auspicious 108 pillars and brilliant golden prayer wheels

A Typical Hani Village in Yunnan
Comprising of an estimated 150 families, the Qinkou Hani Village was a quaint place to visit during my tour through Yunnan’s Yuanyang Rice Terraces. I visited many villages along the way while on the road, and each one had their own unique charm that left an imprint in my memories.
Qinkou Hani Village is renowned for maintaining an integrated ecosystem alongside the forest, water system and terraced fields.
Find it: Qinkou Hani Village, Yunnan Province, China
How to Get There: I hired a driver while touring through Yuanyang, and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to visit a few different villages while in the area. This village is 6km away from Xinjie Town and 2.5km from the Bad Rice Terraces.

Pu'er, China
So much tea! I loved this, being both a tea drinker and a photographer this was amazing. We got to crush our own tea and save it for the future and had so many different tea tastings. This was one of the few places where my terrible tour guide worked out well. He didn't want to do his job so a man that worked on the plantation took me and gave me a tour. He took me to some beautiful locations for photos. Trip of a lifetime

Pu'er, China
LOVED PU'ER! This was such a good trip. We went right after Xishuangbanna. We stayed on the wildlife reserve, the hotel was beautiful but probably a lot more than we needed for the two nights we had it for and warning the showers have a full wall window haha. For a few extra dollars you can pet and feed a lot of the animals. I got to pet the rhinos and 100% fell in love with those animals. Pretty sure a bear walked right next to me. Totally worth the trip. Reminded both of us of home a little too which was wonderful.

Shuangyan Wanyue
The "Shuangyan Wanyue" exhibition center is located in Tengchong, Yunnan, with a unique land and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Architectural design was inspired by the masterpiece Wu Guanzhong's masterpiece "Mansion", hoping to create unique works that embody the oriental architectural connotation and gather the beauty of Tengchong mountains and rivers, which is what is called "double eaves, moon and water, surrounded by mountains and gardens."
.
The building consists of two towers standing on top of each other. The design borrows and innovates the form of the eaves and eaves on the roof of traditional Chinese architecture. The South Building points to the sky, and the North Building sticks to the ground. It is agile and soft, light and elegant. There is a pool of still water in the forecourt, which reflects the double buildings, cornices, sky, and landscape. In addition, the south building and the close-up Langya Mountain are parallel to each other, maximizing the lush green mountain views into the building, the north building and the south building are gently pulled apart, leaving a viewing gallery to incorporate the majestic beauty of Gaoligong Mountain in the distance. The backyard of the building draws on chinese traditional classical gardens, surrounded by verandas, ancient wooden water pavilions, and spring water filled ponds.

The heritage of Yunnan which has not been described it introduced by anyone here, on this platform. I would like to talk a little bit more about Mi Xian 米线 or Rice Noodles. You can find millions of variants to cook this product around in China, can buy it in absolutely every city. Taste differs from region to region. Everywhere is used topical Mi Xian, very thin and transparent. Bit only in Yunnan it is thick and white colour. Taste is different. And of course, Yunnan soup is pretty tasty, with some intangible flours, very mild taste, the taste of harmony. This post is dedicated to real Chinese cuisine judges. If you are in Yunnan, do not forget to taste Yunnan Mi Xian. Enjoy, ladies and gentlemen.

An ice cream by the lake
Near Lijiang, there are many lakes and water bodies to visit. During summer, I can’t imagine better places to be than near cold water. Although, you are not allowed to swim in many of these locations. Nevertheless, there are many options to do, from boating 🛶 to sailing ⛵️, or at least sightseeing.
Traveling during summer can be a challenge, depending on the hot wave. Some areas in China feel like an oven. Therefore, traveling requires safety. Hiking along the lake boundaries can be a beautiful experience, too. However, becomes a bit difficult to travel by yourself in these areas due to lack of transportation (not many taxis) available, and prices.
To better enjoy the beauty of Lijiang and Dali, try to travel as a group. You get discounts and avoid paying high prices (double fees), ideally to travel with someone that speaks Chinese. Yunnan can be a little complicated with foreigners, specially in those areas not to well-known for tourists. Sometimes you end waiting for an hour under the sun for your ride.
☀️ Always keep a full water bottle with you, you might find juice or sweet drinks but not water. And many places in Yunnan are famous for bad hygiene conditions

The Cutest Countryside Coffee Shop!
While on a bike ride cycling through the surrounding countryside near Shaxi Village in Yunnan province, we stumbled across the cutest little coffee shop to take a break in! It was a super quirky place with mismatched furniture, Chinese style doors for tables and the most gorgeous views over the fields (there’s a terrace too!). Plus the coffee was surprisingly decent! Would definitely recommend cycling around the area and stopping by if you get the chance!
