A one hr and a half worthy drive from perth by the great southern highway! York’s original suspension bridge was built in 1888. In 1896 the bridge was lengthened and moved to its current position and has been rebuilt many times due to damage from flood waters.- yorkwa.gov It was an amazing drive w my cousin and I really loved it! York’s original suspension footbridge first opened in 1888 after petitioning from residents for a footbridge to link pedestrian access east and west. A flood in 1891 saw the river flowing a metre above the foot-walk, but the bridge survived.
