Anling Academy, a leisurely and elegant place that allows people to travel through time and space
Chenzhou Yongxing Anling Academy was first built in the Song Dynasty and was named after Yongxing’s ancient name, Anling.
In the ninth year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1731), the magistrate Liu Lingsheng expanded the academy. During its heyday, the academy became the best academy in southern Hunan. It was once known as "Yuelu in the north and Anling in the south", and it dominated the trend for more than 300 years, with its reputation spread far and wide.
The academy is based on the classical architectural style of Suzhou gardens.
Waterfall, Wenquan Pavilion, Yanbo Zhishuang Hall, Yuanyang Hall, Xubai Pavilion, Yunfan Yuefang, Lingxu Pavilion, Zhenjiang Tower, Tiyunshan House, etc.
There are lush trees and bamboos, winding covered bridges, green pools and fountains, and green lawns. Famous trees and ancient trees are scattered throughout the park, and pavilions, platforms, towers, terraces, and rockery complement the scenery.
There is an independent habitable courtyard in the academy. The buildings in the courtyard are simple and elegant, refined and exquisite, drawing on the past and seeking new things.
It has the compactness and elegance of Suzhou gardens and the grandeur of royal gardens. The rooms are all furnished with high-end Ming-style solid wood furniture.
There is a lecture hall for 150 people and a library with 200,000 books.
There are galleries, pavilions, piano rooms, theaters, tea ceremonies, and master buildings for viewing and entertainment.
There are 5 restaurant private rooms, 73 guest rooms, and a specially designed water pleasure boat.
The entire academy is well-arranged with distinct layers. The scenery on both sides of the river is in full view, and the gentle breeze blows on your face, which is heart-warming and refreshing.
