My drink of choice was Blueberry Bubbles and it was incredibly refreshing in the heat. Xitang is an Ancient Town that’s quiet and out of the way. It’s classed as Zhejiang Province, in the small town of Jiashan, Jiaxing. I found it easier to reach there by taking a train to Jiashan South and then a didi to reach the entrance. The didi cost 70RMB each way. Entrance into the ancient town is 95RMB, this also guarantees entry into the small museums inside the town. Many small boutiques and cafes are lining the streets, it’s easy to follow the routes along the river, even crossing over the bridges regularly to see both sides. Xitang is a famous historic water town in Zhejiang Province. It's famous for its historic streets which snake around the waterways and as such also include various stone bridges that cross its many canals. The town is quite popular and a tip to keep in mind is to try to get there early or in the late afternoon, as it will be noticeably quieter. By then you'll feel the town in a more serene and magical way, adding to its charm. In late afternoon the lighting is also especially nice, allowing you to take some beautiful pictures. Although a tourist attraction now, the town is nicely preserved and seems to have kept some of its olden charm. Some residents still seem to live in the area, so you can still see how some of its residents live. Take a stroll outside its main streets, which are bustling with tourists and you'll see a quieter and slower side of the town, which truly brings out the magic and allure of this quaint little town! 🚗Getting There - this farm is pretty close to Xitang ancient town. 📍Naera organics, Zhenguan Road Attractions - 👩‍🌾Farm lifestyle. Glamping look with caravans as food kiosks. The setup is quiet a modern camp and farm look. Fancy or not, you could rock up and get good content. The green house 🏡 was the highlight of my visit. I sipped chrysanthemum tea 🍵 with vanilla cake, while enjoying the warmth of the house,and bought some organic fruit jam amongst all the other organic products they have available. 💐Flower picking, with help ofcourse, was beautiful to experience, although winter is not really a season for flowers. 🥕🍓Fruits and vegetables can also be picked and a wagon is always provided. There’s a herb garden with all the herbs you could think of🪴. You can also find goats 🐐 chickens🐓 and ducks 🦆 . 🏨Hotels -The farm has a hotel right at the entrance. It is convenient for people traveling from far and would like to spend the day at the farm. 🥗🥙Food & Restaurants - There’s a small restaurant with organics on the menu. I had organic salad with fresh organic 🥖 bread. 🛍Shopping - organic food products can be bought at the greenhouse. Xitang, probably the best water town in China among the others I have visited. It will be less to describe it as a fantasy land. Visit there in the evening and you will know the reason of my saying. I visited there on November 14 and I was so lucky because this place was closed for about two weeks and that day was the first time of reopening. I didn't need to buy any ticket (saved 95 rmb). There wasn't much crowd that day. However, I was so satisfied capturing some pictures on my phone. Not always I have this satisfaction! By the way, one thing that I didn't like about this place at all is the environment of the bar street (this is my personal opinion with the respect of the decision by the authorities). There is constant loud music (DJ and Pop) from almost every bars that I felt a complete mismatch with the environment of this water town that is almost two thousand years old! It completely changed the mood! The authority could have come up with more creative ideas to attract the young people here.

#chinatrip Two years ago, I rented a set of Hanfu in Xitang Ancient Town, and hired a photographer to take a series of photos. After the photoshoot, I felt it would be a shame if I didn’t look around while wearing Hanfu, so I decided to walk around Xitang Ancient Town for a few more hours, and took a lot of freehand landscape photos. These photos have not been professionally restored by the photographer, but they feel much more natural. Thanks to my good friends, the day trip to Xitang was so enjoyable, and the enthusiastic tour guide Caroline, who was very patient in taking photos and recording videos, and she was the first to report when we needed help carrying things, which was really too much trouble for her. Last but not least, I can’t forget to thank the friendly clerk who put on makeup and clothes for me, her good service was also the main reason why we were able to create beautiful memories that day!

I chose to go to Xitang during the Chinese New Year mainly because Xitang is really close to Shanghai. Hotel we stayed at: Xitang Light Year Hotel The price during the Chinese New Year period is more expensive than usual, with an average price of 750 per room The hotel environment is not bad, but the rooms are very small The service is good, but there are very few breakfast options Recommended activities: Boat ride, Photography, Stinky tofu The boat ride is a must-do activity for us when visiting ancient towns, it's relaxing and the kids love it It was the first time I took the kids to take photos in Hanfu (there are a lot of shops in the scenic area, with similar prices, we also chose one based on feeling, and the effect was quite good). Actually, the photographers are shared among different shops. The dining in Xitang didn't have any particularly surprising restaurants, the dishes were basically the same, and the taste was also similar. However, I would recommend Guan Lao Tai stinky tofu (the official store). I personally think the taste is particularly good, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and I ate it for two days in a row. I wouldn't really recommend other categories. The thing I drank the most every day was fresh sugarcane juice, which is actually not very cost-effective at more than twenty yuan per cup, but after all, it's in the scenic area.
