One of the best day trips from Chongqing is visiting Wulong three bridges. Getting here is very easy, from chongqing the trains run very often to Wulong. Upon arriving, there are buses which depart from the railway entrance to the three bridges which takes about 40 minutes. Wulong's attractions are mainly natural scenery, and many of them had been listed at World Natural Heritages. There are four hottest attractions: Three Natural Bridges of world wonder, magical Furong Cave, Fairy Mountain with vast grassland and the magnificent Longshuixia Gap. 📍 Getting There - Taxi to Chongqing North train station, train from there to Wulong station, take a taxi from there to Wulong tourist centre. Do exactly the same on the way back. Just check the trains (as there aren’t many). You could get bus from Wulong to Chongqing too! ⭐️ Attractions - Buy a ticket at the Wulong tourist centre for three bridges (make sure you take your passport, QR codes and 48 hour Chongqing Covid test). After, a bus takes you from the tourist centre to the place. It’s a 4km walk through some beautiful scenery. 🏨 Hotels - Not too many hotels there so I booked the Glenview Hotel which is central Chongqing (10 mins from the train station). 👤 A special thank you to Nina from the Wulong tourist centre who helped me with travel and Covid tests. A much needed and long overdue trip to Wulong in March 2020 right after the pandemic lockdown. @VickWalks and I were both amazed at how surprisingly beautiful Chongqing is. We didn’t know what to expect as the information we were able to find regarding the trails in Wulong was very limited, but the views along the were way beyond our expectations. It was a sensory overload. We had our home beside a gorgeous lake on a clear starry night. First time camping out in China was a huge success despite all the unpleasant bugs. With that trip, I realized Chongqing is definitely not the easiest place to backpack as most of the routes are not mapped out or even well traveled. I booked a one-day tour on Taobao (a Chinese online shopping platform) and departed from Chongqing. The tour and meal were included in the 65,000 won per person. I saw the Tianzhen Sanqiao glass bridge and the Tianzhen Sanqiao, a filming location for Transformers. There were Transformer statues everywhere. It was nice to walk around and see the sights because there was a lot of shade. Next, I saw Yongsu Gorge Peak. It was nice to see a lot of natural scenery. Longshuixia Gorge or as some people call it "Earth gap" is another of the natural wonders near the Dazu District of China. If you are a hiker and nature lover this is a paradise for you. Taking the elevator into the Tiankeng Scenic Area feels like entering the last human refuge in a disaster movie. Photos cannot capture the insignificance of humans in nature. The first time I learned about the Tiankeng was from the movie 'Curse of the Golden Flower,' and later from 'Transformers 4.' The most profound impression the Tiankeng gives is its isolated and independent atmosphere. Outside the Tiankeng are steep mountains, but inside there are vast flatlands, making the terrain very peculiar. Longshuixia Fissure is a typical karst landform. The deepest part of the fissure can reach several hundred meters, making it seem bottomless and visually stunning. The magical part is that the scenery within the fissure is pleasant, with rich vegetation, babbling brooks, and a waterfall cascading down from the mountain above, as if entering an underground parallel world. The scenes of Optimus Prime and Grimlock fighting among the waterfalls are still vivid. 🤖 Comprising three natural stone arch bridges, it is the largest natural bridge group in Asia. The bridges span the canyon, with both the span and the distance from the canyon floor exceeding 100 meters. 🤖 Take a fully transparent elevator down to the canyon floor and walk between the high mountains and valleys. The mountain walls on both sides are eroded by water, with occasional water droplets falling. Looking up through the layers of the canyon, the blue sky seems to press down on you, as if you've entered an Eastern Wuxia RPG game. Getting There - High speed train to Wulong. From there you can get a DiDi or a cab to the tourist center. From there, you take a bus to the three gorges karst. (about 20mins or so) Attractions - Wulong three gorges. This place is also a film location for the Transformers. Hotels - There are hotels you can book in Wulong. I’d recommend booking 2 nights if you want to go to Fairy mountain and the cave as well.
