I think every season is a different experience...I went during the Spring Festival which was awesome because there were no lines to wait in and it snowed. It was a real Winter Wonderland!
Getting There - There are buses and shuttles to get around. I'm not sure when and how it works cause I wemt with a tour group that organized everything for us.
Attractions - The park's scenery is beautiful, walking around enjoying nature and the World UNESCO site. It also has the longest and fastest elevator in the world.
Hotels - We stayed in the Pullman Hotel which is close to the park.
Food & Restaurants - There's kiosks to buy drinks and something to eat.
go around Zhangjiaje
#mountainview Zhangjiaje is a very popular place for the Avatar mountain 🏔 I still remember, it was raining when I traveled there. You can have a choice to take a cable car 🚠 or walk and hike. Above the mountain, you can think about the mountains are floating. High as the clouds. Aside from that you can take a boat 🚤 to explore the place in Zhangjiaje. Traveling solo is a fun thing to do. Look beyond, you can see different amazing beautiful natural sceneries. Meet new people along the way. Learn from the locals. Just be sure to be brave and be careful. At the end of the trip, you’ll be thankful and will be a storyteller after. #tripblazers #tripaway
Avatar mountains in Zhangjiajie
The famous movie ‘Avatar’ was inspired by the mountains of Zhangjiajie National forest, in Hunan province.
Walking through the park, climbing and enjoying the view from the numerous terraces leave you with a mixed of emotions.
The park is huge and you need at least 2 days to see the most important attractions. There are several cableways in canyons connecting the mountains, and one must-go attraction is an elevator entirely made of glass that takes you to the top of the mountain.
The village at the entrance of the park is immersed in the nature, surrounded by the mountains and streams and offers many options of bed & breakfast and boutique hotels for an unforgettable experience.

Zhangjiajie National Park
Famous for its spires that inspired the Avatar movie. Zhangjiajie National Park - otherwise known as “the avatar mountains” - is a ridiculous collection of tall spires that are easily accessible and visitable in a day.
Located near Tianmen Mountain, the park is full of hiking trails, cable cars, and a famous elevator.
While extremely popular among domestic tourists, heading to the park outside of a national holiday should give you enough space to enjoy parts of it to yourself al- just don’t hesitate to head off the beaten path and down some of the smaller trails.
The park also comprises a bus system to get you around, though I definitely recommend grabbing some drinks and snacks before you go just in case.

Winter Wonderland in Zhangjiajie
My winter wonderland vacation, January 2020 at Zhangjiajie.
My partner and I went over the Spring Festival break so we assumed it would be crowded. However, it was the opposite! We stayed near the park and the area was so quiet it felt like a ghost town. Many restaurants were closed but we still managed to get food from the locals by the hostels. After 1 day, they announced that no one could purchase tickets due to Coronavirus, but luckily we had already purchased tickets, although we did not get to go to Heaven’s Gate.
We were very lucky to have experienced the park with no crowds. It felt like we were the only ones on the mountain. There was mist and didn’t get to see the view hiking up the mountain, but it gave a mystical feel🙌🏽. We only realized how high we were taking the cable car down and it was an amazing but scary view! We were also greeted by McDonald’s on top of the mountain! The few raindrops and snow was absolutely beautiful and refreshing. Perhaps less people go during this time due to the weather, but I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a Winter Wonderland experience❄️

Traverse an alien landscape
It is for good reason that Zhangjiajie National Park is one of the most famous and popular destinations in China. There is a huge range of landscapes, most famously the massive pillars of stone nicknamed the Avatar Mountains, and forests, streams, a spring said to grant longevity to those who drink its water, and mischievous macaques.
🚅 Zhangjiajie City in Hunan is easily reached by air or rail, and a dedicated bus takes visitors to the various entrances to the park. After buying a ticket, visitors can take a free shuttle bus to reach different parts of the extensive park.
📷 Zhangjiajie is best known for its views, so bring a camera and prepare to be awed by what you see. I suggest planning at least three days to have enough time, especially if you're hiking.
🏞️ There are many hiking trails throughout the park, but for those who aren't keen on hauling themselves up and down mountains, various cable cars and elevators can bring guests to the most popular viewing points.
☕ There are places to buy food and drinks in the park, but as they are pricy and the selection limited, I suggest bringing a picnic. Make sure to carry lots of water if hiking, especially in summer.
☀️ It's said that Zhangjiajie should be seen in every season. I can't wait to return the next time to see its other guises.

Have you ever watched the movie Avatar? Based on James Cameron the floating Hallelujah Mountains were inspired in real place it’s Zhangjiajie National Forest Park! The place is so magical that you can wonder how on earth did this rock formation forms. Specially when the mountain and trees are covered with snow. This one is LUCKY SHOT also because on this time we are heading back home early in the morning. We are in the taxi going the train station then we saw the mountains covered with snow! the most special one!
I’ll be back!

Our spirit animal; a cheeky monkey spotted in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park - Wulingyuan Scenic Area. In Northern Hunan Province, Zhangjiajie is said to be the inspiration for the landscape seen in James Cameron’s “Avatar”, and it’s easy to see why he felt so inspired by thousands of cliff mountains!

Michaela (@uncoveringcities) Zhangjiajie is a huge park in Hunan renowned for its bizarre pillar-like mountains.
Said to have inspired the floating Hallelujah Mountains in the film Avatar, the peaks of Zhangjiajie, although they don't fly, are even more incredible for being real. The 'floating mountain' effect can be seen when it's foggy and only the peaks rise above the clouds. It was hot and sunny when I was there, so I didn't see this view, but it was beautiful all the same.
Some areas, around infrastructure like the glass elevator, the cable car, and so on, can be very crowded, but there is also an impressive network of trails and it's possible to do some good hiking whilst avoiding both the crowds and modern development. Few other people bother climbing hundreds of steps when there's a lift 😆
Be sure to carry enough water if hiking and watch out for the monkeys, which are very good at stealing food.🐒

Here comes the very famous mountain that went to inspire to make Avatar movie. Yes, the hanging mountains are conceived by the look of these tall mountains amidst the clouds. We took the flight to Zhangjiajie and headed on to Zhangjiajie national forest park. We hiked all the way up, to make it worthy. And it didn't disappoint us. This place is full of UNESCO heritage sites, and has 5A ratings. The next day we went to the world famous glass bridge, where you feel like walking over the clouds. P.S. If you're afraid of heights, better to avoid this ! It is usually super crowded, so plan it off the season/weekdays if you can. The following day, we get to see the door to heaven; yea, that's what is said about the 天门山 (Tianmen shan) entrance. This entrance truly has that spiritual look and feel. Btw, looking forward to next avatar movie already haha #urbanexplorer #leaveyourmark #avatarfloatingmountains #unescoworldheritage

The unique Fenglin landform in Zhangjiajie is composed of tall pillars of quartz sandstone and limestone after millions of years of dissolution, weathering, and gravity to form today's appearance. 🧐It is located at the confluence of the three places of Hunan, Hubei, and Chongqing.

The Avatar mountain of Zhangjiajie @ the Wulingyuan scenic park. A UNESCO protected park worth visiting to enjoy the fresh air, experience the high and savor Hunan Cuisine.
At first glance, Baofeng Lake was deeply shocked. As a boutique attraction in Wulingyuan's scenic spots, this rare high-gorge Pinghu, surrounded by green hills, with clear water and beautiful scenery, is called nature. The most beautiful landscape masterpiece.
Baofeng Lake is the world's natural heritage, the World Geopark, a lake-type natural scenic spot that combines natural landscapes and humanities and folklore in Zhangjiajie's landforms.
The original scenery of the natural beauty of the Tianzishan
Tianzishan because of the Ming Dynasty Tujia leaders to Da Kun's self-title "to Wang Tianzi", named. Tianzi Shandong Linsuoxi, south of Zhangjiajie, north of Sangzhi County, is one of the four major scenery of Wulingyuan District.
From the entrance of Wulingyuan, you need to make a scenic bus to the lower entrance of the cableway, and then take the cableway up the mountain. The ropeway is 72 yuan one way, round trip 144 yuan, if you do not take the cableway down the mountain, you have to walk 2-3 hours! It can be seen that the distance of this ropeway is far, and the altitude is high. You can take a closer look at the cableway and enjoy the peculiar rocky terrain from more angles, but the friends who are afraid of heights should pay attention to safety.
At the top of the mountain, the air is fresh and fresh, and it is cool and comfortable, and the view is wide. It should be the highest place in Zhangjiajie. However, some of the scenery seen here is not as good as the one seen during the ropeway.
The most worthwhile attraction in Tianzi Mountain is Shentang Bay. It seems like a green labyrinth. A concave deep valley, with a knife-cut wall on all sides, all day and night. The lower level is stacked to form a five-level shrine. The bottom of the valley is unfathomable. It is called the "mysterious heaven". It is said that this place is the place where Wang Tianzi returns to heaven.
The geology and geomorphology of Tianzi Mountain, except for a layer of limestone and a very small amount of moir above several hundred meters above sea level on the mountain top, most of the scenic spots are composed of Xinhui quartz stone, which belongs to the sandstone peak forest landscape. Basically the same as Suoxi, Zhangjiajie.
Come to Baofeng Lake to sing folk songs
come to Baofeng Lake to punch cards, probably because it is closer to where I live, or it may be as a Jiangnanese, see more mountains or like water.
Baofeng Lake is a lake-type natural scenic spot that combines natural landscapes and humanities and folk customs in Zhangjiajie's landforms. It is called the World Lake Classic. It is necessary to purchase a ticket for the tour and a round-trip eco-car for the scenic spot. Tickets. The tickets actually include the tour tickets of Baofeng Lake. There will be local guides on the cruises. They let the tourists directly call them Amei.
Cruise can not only enjoy the scenery of Gaoxia Pinghu in Baofeng Lake, but also let you integrate into the local folk customs. When you hear the local prince Amei singing folk songs, two lakes will be set along the way. A folk song sings, the tour guide will also let the tourists sing the folk songs with them to increase the fun of playing. You can bring him/her home with Amei or Age on 3 songs! However, it is not very convenient to take a photo on a cruise ship. Many of the viewpoints of the attractions are also convenient to watch directly.
Here is the famous film "Avatar" framing Yuanjiajie
it is located in the north of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, is a jewel inlaid in the core scenic spot of Wulingyuan, where the attractions are the world's most unparalleled shock.
For example, "the world's first ladder" - Bailong ladder, vertical height difference of 335 meters, running height of 326 meters, from the lower ping uphill only takes more than 1 minute, can be seen in the glass elevator To a magical scroll is one of the top ten scenes of Zhangjiajie, "The Soldiers' Party", also known as the "Forty Eight Generals Rock". The pillar of the stone rises up and is arranged in front of the eyes, like a The neat, majestic guard of honor, as the name is generally domineering is spectacular.
(You need to buy a ticket by elevator, the price is 72 yuan for one way, 43 yuan for one-way discount ticket, 144 yuan for two-way trip.)
After going up the mountain, most of them have to walk, going east for about 800 M, there is a small road to the south to reach a viewing platform, here is the Ecstasy. Looking around here, thousands of sights are in sight. The pillars of the rock peaks are like tables, such as chairs, such as buildings and cabinets. Their shapes are strange and wonderful. It is said that because every time the rain is clear, there will be light clouds and light fog around the canyons and rocks, like Qionglou Yuge, when the time is hidden, visitors are here, all the souls are obsessed, do not know where to live, so there is ecstasy Taiwan's reputation.
Going deep into the scenic spot, you will arrive at the "South Tianyi Pillar" of "Avatar", which is like the Optimus Prime standing in the canyon! Nantianyizhu is one of Zhangjiajies Three Thousands of Qifeng, with an altitude of 1074 meters and a vertical height of about 150 meters. The top vegetation is lush and the peak shape is peculiar. The vertical joints are obviously cut, which is like a knife and axe. There is a tendency to stand on the ground, so it is also known as Qiankunzhu. On January 25, 2010, Zhangjiajie Nantianyizhu (also known as Qiankunzhu) was officially renamed Avatar Hallelujah Mountain.
Located in the "Wulingyuan" scenic spot in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, the "Bailong Tianti" has won the "world's highest fully exposed sightseeing elevator, the world's tallest double-decker sightseeing elevator, the world's largest and fastest sightseeing elevator. "The three Guinness World Records are called "the first ladder in the world." The
"Bailong Ladder" has a vertical height difference of 335 meters and a running height of 326 meters. It uses three double-layer fully exposed sightseeing elevators imported from Germany to run in parallel, running at speeds of up to 3 m/s. It only takes 1 minute 58 seconds.
Now, the price of Bailong Elevator is 65 yuan/person for one-way trip and 130 yuan/person for one-way trip. In the elevator, enjoying the beautiful scenery of Zhangjiajie through transparent floor-to-ceiling windows is also a rare travel experience and enjoyment. Its really fascinating. Have you ever been to sit?
