#autumnbeauty I recently hiked through Vodopády Studeného Potoka in Slovakia during autumn, and it was absolutely magical! 🍂 The waterfall trail is located in the High Tatras, and as the leaves were turning golden and red, the scenery felt like something out of a fairy tale. There’s no entrance fee, just beautiful nature all around. The hike is moderately challenging but worth every step. You pass several stunning waterfalls along the way, each surrounded by vibrant fall colors and the sound of rushing water. I spent a few hours on the trail, taking in the fresh mountain air and stopping at each viewpoint to admire the landscape. After the hike, I visited the nearby town of Starý Smokovec, where I grabbed a hot drink and warmed up. Day 5: Relaxed Hike Around Hrebienok and Departure For your final day, opt for a more relaxed hike to unwind and soak in the natural beauty of the Tatra Mountains. Take the funicular to Hrebienok, a mountain station at 1,285 meters, and explore the nearby trails, including the scenic route to the waterfalls of the Studeny Potok stream. From there, we followed a marked path leading us through a lush forest and onwards to the breathtaking Skok Waterfall. The sound of rushing water and the cool mist provided a refreshing break before tackling the more challenging ascent. The climb to Bystrá Lávka was steep and rocky in parts, but the reward was worth it. Standing at the top, we were treated to stunning panoramic views of rugged peaks and crystal-clear lakes far below. The sense of accomplishment made the effort feel insignificant. For travelers, sturdy hiking boots are a must, as the terrain can be slippery. Carry enough water and snacks, and start early to enjoy the hike without rushing. The High Tatras are well-marked and generally safe, but the weather can change quickly, so pack a lightweight rain jacket. This trek wasn’t just about the destination—it was about embracing the journey through Slovakia’s pristine mountain wilderness.

Beautiful mountains on south part of Poland. There is also the highest summit in Poland called Rysy. Nice and good tracks with different level of experience in mountain trekking or even climbing. That was good time and hope that not last.

You can also do hiking with cable cars to the top of the mountain. In winter, there are several skiing sites around there. You can easily reach to the Tatry mountain with train, bus or a car. #myhiddengems Although i had been to Slovakia twice in the past. I never really alloted it a lot of time. This time around my shorter trip largely focused on Slovakia. There were things I had heard about places but the logistics and time never allowed. But not this time. So, the tatras mountains spa across Slovakia and Poland. The hike has several options and since mine was planned I ensured I came when most number of trails were open. This was almost end of September. Clearly from the number of hikers I saw around. It is safe to say that the popularity of tatras has steadily grown over the years. Same could be said about Slovakia. Yet, it won't be as crowded as other popular hiking destinations in europe. Since I hadn't heard about very favourable feedback for doing this from Poland. I decided to stick with Slovakia. This being the less crowded and less touristy part of tatras. Things take longer and figuring out. You have several options among small towns to pick as your base. It's definitely the more serene and peaceful options. Less tourists around and so easy come and go with the cable car. With these cable cars a great deal of climbing is saved. Even for people new at this, it is quite doable. Lomnický štít is one of the highest and most visited mountain peaks in the High Tatras mountains of Slovakia. Using cable car to Tatranská Lomnica, its summit is 2,634 metres above sea level, making it the second highest peak in the High Tatras after Gerlachovský štít. I visited this place in 2022 in March where you can see there was snow still on the mountains. The views were beautiful, and the photos don’t do them justice.
