During my summer vacation, I had the pleasure of exploring Sheringham Park, a stunning gem managed by the National Trust in Norfolk. Located just outside the charming town of Sheringham, this park offers a beautiful blend of woodland and garden landscapes. The entrance fee is a modest £7 for adults, and it's definitely worth it for the breathtaking views and tranquil atmosphere.
The park is renowned for its diverse plant collections and picturesque walking trails. I especially enjoyed the panoramic views from the elevated spots—perfect for taking in the surrounding countryside. The park also features a lovely café where I relaxed with a cup of tea and some delicious cake.
Nearby, you can visit the seaside town of Sheringham itself, with its quaint shops and lovely beaches. The North Norfolk Railway is also a great nearby attraction if you’re a fan of historic trains.
Sheringham Park is a peaceful retreat and a perfect spot to enjoy nature.

There are places that feel like they were dreamed into existence—Sheringham Park is one of them. Designed in the early 1800s by landscape genius Humphry Repton, this Norfolk treasure blends wild woodland, sweeping sea views, and perfectly placed paths into an experience that feels timeless.
Come in late spring, when the rhododendrons and azaleas burst into color and the air carries their sweet scent. Meander through forests dappled with sunlight, pause at a hidden gazebo to watch the coastline unfold, or climb a tower and feel like you're standing on the edge of England.
This is a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and let nature do what it does best: inspire.
Travel Tip:
Don’t rush. Give yourself time to simply be—every path rewards patience.
Ideal for picnics, sketching, or quiet reflection.

Sheringham Park, Norfolk – A Hidden Gem of the North Norfolk Coast
#cityplaybook
Tucked away in the tranquil countryside near the North Norfolk coastline, Sheringham Park is a breathtaking National Trust property that deserves a spot on every nature lover’s travel list. I stumbled upon this place almost by accident on a spring road trip—and honestly, I’ve been recommending it ever since.
What struck me most was the sheer scale and variety of landscapes. Designed by Humphry Repton, this historic park is a mosaic of wildflower meadows, rolling woodlands, and rhododendron-lined pathways that burst into color each spring. If you’re lucky enough to visit between late April and early June, you're in for a spectacular show—the rhododendrons and azaleas are in full bloom, turning every corner into a painter’s palette of pinks, purples, and fiery oranges.
Climbing the viewing towers is a must—especially the Gazebo Tower, which offers panoramic views across the park and out toward the North Sea. On a clear day, you can even see the wind turbines off the coast. The trails are well marked and vary in length, making them suitable for casual strollers and seasoned hikers alike. I particularly enjoyed the White Trail, which winds through some of the most scenic parts of the estate.
There’s a welcoming café near the visitor centre and plenty of peaceful spots for a picnic. And yes, Sheringham Park is dog-friendly, so it’s a great option if you're traveling with your four-legged friend.
Best time to visit? Spring, hands down. That’s when the rhododendrons are in bloom and the wildlife is at its most active. But autumn brings its own charm with golden foliage and misty trails.
Bonus Tip: Sheringham Park is just a short drive from Sheringham town and easily accessible via the A148. Parking is available, and free for National Trust members.
