Maybe because it's the off-season in winter and also the Christmas holiday, there are very few same-day round-trip buses from Split to Trogir. In the morning, there's only one bus (less than 40 minutes one way, really close). I went on Christmas Eve, 12/24, and arrived in Trogir before 8 a.m. 😂 The whole city was still asleep. But with fewer people at this time, it was really great for strolling and taking photos!! 📸 The weather was rainy and sunny alternately, which felt quite atmospheric~ Trogir Old Town is also listed as a World Cultural Heritage site. Definitely worth a visit~ Game of Thrones was also filmed here 🎞️ The island’s right-angled street layout, exquisite Romanesque churches ⛪️, and short Baroque-style buildings make the city’s scenery uniquely charming. By noon, the once empty streets suddenly came alive again 😂 It felt like the locals all gathered in the old town, and the Christmas open-air concert began 🎶 Following the music, there wasn’t even an empty table at the venue~ Croatia really suits this kind of relaxed city walk 🇭🇷 You can play wherever you go without rushing to check in. Although many restaurants were closed or didn’t serve full meals during the holiday❗️ We found the simple meals we bought at the supermarket by the pier delicious, especially the roasted chicken wings!! 📝PS!! I didn’t get to go up the bell tower of St. Lawrence Cathedral or Kamerlengo Castle! That’s the downside of coming during the holidays—you can feel the strong Christmas atmosphere, but there will definitely be some regrets. 🌊 It wasn’t very cold in winter either, around 15-16 degrees Celsius at noon, with little temperature difference. Browse the souvenir shops (olive oil soap and lavender sachets are must-buys). The Orlando Columns at the end are a popular photo spot. 🥘Local Specialties ❶Seaside Restaurants: Order black risotto (squid ink risotto) with local white wine. New Year's Trip: Objective Experience and Practical Advice Just returned from Dubrovnik, this New Year's trip was cost-effective and coincided with the New Year's Eve fireworks show. Here are the gains and precautions from this trip: 🏨 Accommodation: The Key to Location Choice Stayed at the Sheraton Hotel (P5), the sea view room had a great view, but the location had obvious limitations: - On regular days, Uber to the Old Town costs about 10 euros - After the New Year's fireworks, the return fare rose to 35 euros - On New Year's Day, going to the viewpoint was difficult to get a ride, eventually costing 50 euros Unexpectedly, when applying for a late checkout on January 2, we were told the hotel only operates during Christmas and New Year's, and it closed in the afternoon of January 2, so checkout was required before noon. 💡 Suggestion: The Hilton Hotel is only a 3-minute walk to the Old Town, which can effectively save transportation costs and time. 🍽️ Dining: Holiday Business Hours Most restaurants in Dubrovnik were closed during New Year's Day. The planned seafood feast was not realized, and we ended up choosing the hotel buffet. Trogir Croatia The old stone, island town of Trogir, off the mainland of Croatia on the Adriatic Sea is an extremely beautiful place full of picturesque architecture. This includes old churches with high steeple topped towers, bustling markets, open plazas surrounded by delightful cafes, narrow cobbled streets with classy restaurants and a long, waterfront, palm tree lined boulevard hosting many restaurants with outdoor dining under big awning. We parked our hire car on the mainland part of the city and walked over the Državna Cesta bridge at the north gate into the old town. We started along small cobblestone streets to Pope John Paul 2nd Square to see the lovely old clock tower and took a few photos here and of the Town Museum bell tower. We walked from here to the Gradska Vrata square down more narrow streets and sampled a couple of ice creams - very nice! After exploring most of the surrounding streets and open squares we came out onto the long Jadrolinija boulevard, where many boats are moored alongside and at the end a bridge links the old town to Čiovo island. Here we found a very photogenic castle (Kaštel Kamerlengo) to pose beside, (and trying to block out the annoying delivery truck parked next to it!) All in all, a very worthwhile detour from our trip exploring Croatia! Well worth a visit!!

Do you know the city of Trogir in Croatia? It takes an hour by local bus from Split. There are about two buses per hour. The fare is 3 euros. This town of Trogir is on an island with the old townscape of Croatia. The roofs are orange and beautiful like Dubrovnik. Compared to Split, there are not so many tourists and the prices are cheaper, so I prefer it to Split. The Benedictine monastery of Saint Nicholas in the city of Trogir in Croatia was founded in 1064 and has from that point onwards been maintained as a monastery for Benedictine nuns, almost one thousand years of history, There is a beautiful courtyard and small museum on site also a small shop. Trogir Cathedral or the Cathedral of Saint Lawrence is a beautiful church. The exterior of the church demonstrates a Romanesque style of architecture, whereas the interior of the church is in a more Gothic style, making this church very interesting architecturally. Work on the cathedral began in 1213 and it was completed 400 years later. The architecture of the cathedral is quite unique and beautiful, and there is a great view from the top of the Bell tower. #celebrateit #europetravel #zagreb

The bell tower stands out and you can actually climb it. The view of the old town from the top is amazing. The church itself is a representative Romanesque-Gothic building built from the 13th to 17th centuries. 🏯Kamerlengo Fortress This fortress was built during the Venetian rule in the 15th century. Unlike the buildings in Trogir's old town, the building has a simple exterior and is functional. From the top of the fort, you can get a wonderful view of the old town and the Adriatic Sea.
