Dark history is also part of our heritage - San Sabba Rice Mill in Trieste
If you are looking for a humbling experience of Europe's darker past, San Sabba is an important site to visit in #Trieste.
The former rice factory served as a Nazi concentration camp during WWII. The site has been adapted to a museum and tastefully altered to remind us of the tragic history of the region.
The visit is an opportunity to learn, reflect, and remember.
I highly recommend renting an audio guide for better context.

The Modernist Hotel
We stayed one night in Trieste at The Modernist Hotel. The hotel is in a historic building, but the rooms are chic. Trieste is not a big city, so the hotel is conveniently located - we walked only 15 minutes from the train station. It is also less than a 15 minute walk to the cruise pier, where we needed to depart. Several grocery stores, restaurants, and shops are located around the immediate area.

The most beautiful accident Trieste
Trieste in the northwest corner of Italy is an unexpected attraction outside the itinerary. Bordering Slovenia, it is estimated that 99% of tourists to Italy will not go to this forgotten corner. Affected by the cultural traffic of many countries, it has long been a different temperament and style.
Because I set the train to Venice at 1 o'clock, the hotel Goopti arrived at 8 o'clock in the morning and arrived at Triste at 9 o'clock. So we simply put our luggage at the train station and use two or three trains. Just a few hours to visit this small town on the border of Italy.
Realization did not do the Raiders at all, just listening to the netizens saying that it is a place worth walking. Unfortunately, it is also a rainy day, even the dogs are falling into the soup.

Beautiful Trieste 🇮🇹
#traveldiaries
I recently visited Trieste, Italy, and it completely surprised me with its mix of cultures, history, and stunning coastal views! 🌊 Located at the very edge of Italy, right near the Slovenian border, Trieste has an Austro-Hungarian vibe, which gives it a unique charm. Piazza Unità d’Italia, the city’s main square, is breathtaking, with its grand buildings opening up to the Adriatic Sea. It’s free to wander around and take in the atmosphere, and I recommend grabbing a coffee at one of the historic cafes, like Caffè San Marco.
The city’s port is also beautiful to stroll along, especially during sunset. For a bit of history, I visited the Castello di San Giusto, where the entrance fee was around €5. The views from the castle over the city and sea are worth the climb. Another highlight was the Roman Theatre, right in the middle of town. I also took a short trip to the Miramare Castle, which is just outside the city, and offers incredible views over the Adriatic. Trieste felt like a hidden gem—so much to see and experience without the big crowds.

Trieste italy is definitely worth to go for at least two days
If you like coffee and enjoy walking around the sea, you must come to Trieste Italy.
Trieste is physically and psychologically isolated from the rest of the Italian peninsula. As such, it preserves its own unique border-town culture and retains a fascinating air of fluidity encapsulated in the Triestini dialect.
With an enviable perch between the Adriatic Sea and Slovenia’s peaks, Trieste is an Italian city whose food, architecture, and history have Eastern soul.
Places to visit in Trieste for two days:
Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia
Ex Magazzino Vini - Eataly Trieste
Museo Revoltella
Piazza Sant'Antonio Nuovo
Fontana del Giovannin del Ponterosso
Parco della Rimembranza sul Colle di San Giusto
Museo del Risorgimento e Sacrario Oberdan
Piazza Del Mondo
Beach Barcola
Historical Museum of the Miramare Castle
Molo Audace - Gia "Molo S. Carlo"
It was convenient for me to move around with public bus and just walk around. This city is really safe for solo traveller.
How to get to Trieste from Venice?
You can take a direct train from Venice Maestre station to Trieste and it is less than 3 hours.
If you like shopping , that is your place as well.

Trieste: Being forgotten is also a blessing.
Many people in Italy may not have heard of the legendary city of Trieste. This city is indeed difficult to describe because it is not a well-known international metropolis, there are no eye-catching landmark buildings, no widely sung classic music, no unique delicacies, and even no well-known celebrities.
This central Italian port city has experienced the baptism of long years, witnessed prosperity and decline, not only cultural attribution is unclear, but historical attribution is also uncertain.
Although it is located in the Adriatic Sea, it does not have much Italian characteristics. About 70% of Italians do not know that there is such a city within the border.
🚩Trieste is located in Italy and has been the territory of many regimes in history, including the ancient Romans, Venetians, and the Habsburg dynasty. It has experienced many political changes in the 20th century, including the rule of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the merger of Italy. The city has witnessed the integration of different cultures and ethnic groups and has become an ideal place for artists and exiles.
🏝️Trieste is located on the Adriatic Sea and has the advantage of a natural port. The city's buildings are distributed on uneven slopes, and the square in front of the city hall faces the sea, showing its unique geographical location and landscape.
🦢The cityscape of Trieste is impressive. In spring, the sun is soft, the seagulls hover at low altitude, the sea is calm, giving a quiet and comfortable feeling. The vitality of the square and the surrounding buildings show a strong Central European atmosphere.
🚢Trieste is home to the shipbuilding giant Fincantieri Shipyard, and nearly half of the world's cruise ships are born here. The illy coffee produced here is also well-known worldwide. The city's cultural activities are colorful and attract tourists from all over the world.
💗For many people, Trieste is not just a city, but represents an ideal. Those who have been here may leave with an indescribable sense of mystery, and those who are familiar with it will fall in love with this city.
🏯Miramare Castle: The castle built by the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian on the coast of Trieste is the love nest of him and his newlywed wife, the Belgian Princess Carlota. However, he was forced to go to Mexico in 1864 and was unfortunately killed.
The above shows the history, culture, and unique charm of Trieste, which is an unforgettable experience for both tourists and locals.

The Charming City on the Adriatic Coast -- Trieste
📍Attraction Address: Trieste is located in the northeastern part of Italy, on the northeastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. It is a crossroads of Germanic, Latin, and Slavic cultures. It is at the top border of the Italian boot, like a fine fold, extending along the Adriatic Sea.
👍️Must-visit Attractions: As the footsteps of autumn quietly approach, the charm of Trieste, this Italian city, becomes even more enchanting. In this golden season, embarking on a romantic autumn journey to explore the unique charm of Trieste will surely make you linger.
Standing in Piazza Unità d'Italia, I realized that Trieste is completely different from what I imagined. This border city of Italy was once the most important seaport of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The buildings on Piazza Unità d'Italia emit a pearly white glow, exuding elegance and freshness amidst solemnity. Not far away is the clear blue sea of the Adriatic, making the whole city appear sunny and open. This square, covering an area of 10,000 square meters, is said to be the largest seafront square in Europe. During the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was simply and crudely named the "Great Square," and later, as Trieste became part of Italy, it was named to celebrate the unification.
In the center of Trieste, there is a wide canal, facing which is a large cathedral. The guest docks near the port are now filled with private yachts, attracting not only locals but also a large number of tourists from all directions. The seaside boulevard is lined with bars and restaurants, bustling with people as the lights come on. In the deep water area in the distance, a huge cruise ship is docked, with many people carrying luggage heading towards the cruise.
It is not as crowded as Venice, Florence, and Rome, nor does it overly market itself. In short, Trieste does not have the typical drawbacks of Italy's major art cities; it is a low-key yet charming city.

Costal city in Italy 🇮🇹
#summerdestinations
I just returned from a summer trip to Trieste, and it exceeded all my expectations! This coastal city in Italy is a hidden gem with its unique blend of Italian, Austrian, and Slavic influences. I started with the grand Miramare Castle, set on a cliff overlooking the Adriatic. The €10 entrance fee was worth it for the stunning views and beautiful gardens.
Next, I explored Piazza Unità d'Italia, one of Europe’s largest squares, surrounded by impressive buildings and lively cafes. A visit to the historic Teatro Romano, with a €5 ticket, gave me a glimpse into Trieste’s Roman past. Don’t miss the Caffè San Marco for a coffee break—it’s an iconic spot with a rich literary history.
Trieste’s charm lies in its mix of cultures and history, making it a fantastic summer destination. ☕🏰 #trip #Trieste #AdriaticCharm #HistoricalWonders #ItalianGetaway #HiddenGem

Tenda Rossa, best fish Restaurant in Trieste
Incredible dinner in Trieste (north Italy), Tenda Rossa restaurant. In 2024 the best Restaurant if you wanna eat fish there. The view is amazing. The fish is fresh and tasty. Really good the linguine con le vongole (pasta with clams) and especially spaghetti all’ aragosta (pasta with lobster). The list of Italian wine is also good. We have chosen Pinot Grigio from Collavini, always good choice.
