A walk along the Kuranomachi promenade
#0yentravelFebruary2025
Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture, has been a post town on the Nikko Reibeishi Kaido road since the Edo period.
It was also a commercial city in northern Kanto as a wholesale town that prospered through boat transport during the Edo period.
Even now, the banks of the Uwa River that flows through the city and the main street of Kuranomachi are still lined with heavy black-painted storehouses and white-walled storehouses.
The storehouses are said to be among the oldest in Japan.
This is a record of a leisurely stroll along the charming walking path along the Kuranomachi street, feeling the history.

I stayed at an Airbnb called picoahause in Tochigi Prefecture 😊
It was a wonderful place with a sauna, bonfire, BBQ, hot springs, and shisha!!

It's also pet-friendly and allows shisha, making it a perfect spot for chilling ✨✨
The host family was very friendly and lovely 🤭
It's definitely a place I want to visit again ✨✨

About 25 minutes by bus from Utsunomiya Station, Tochigi Prefecture... Moon Dogg Espresso Roasters opened along the Nikko Kaido street. Speaking of espresso in Utsunomiya, this is also a very popular shop. It's located along the street, so it's very easy to visit, and the coffee is dark roasted and the iced coffee is also recommended. I heard that Tanaka from Bear Pond Espresso taught them about the shop and that they have inherited many of its traditions. It was a nice shop that was easy to stop by. *Photography permission has been given. When taking photos, please let the staff know,

Ashikaga Flower Park in Tochigi Prefecture
Located in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, Ashikaga Flower Park was once selected by American CNN as one of the top ten dreamy travel destinations in the world. It is the only place in Japan that made the list. During the months of April and May when the wisteria flowers bloom, the park hosts the Great Wisteria Festival, where over 350 wisteria trees blossom at the same time, creating a spectacular sight. It is said that wisteria is an ancient flowering plant in Japan, and there is even a wisteria tree that is over 150 years old, which has been designated as a national natural monument.
The sea of wisteria flowers during the day is like a dreamy fairyland, and at night, the wisteria flowers, illuminated by lights, are recognized as a Japanese night view heritage known as 'Night Wisteria'. CNN even compared it to the Tree of Souls in Avatar, making it feel like being in a forest wonderland, leaving visitors in awe.
