Kei Island
The Kai Islands (also Kei Islands) of Indonesia are a group of islands in the southeastern part of the Maluku Islands, located in the province of Maluku.
you can do a lot of things in Kei Island, Laze the days away while snorkeling, getting massages on the beach, fishing, going for long walks on the beach, or go for something a little more adventurous. You can explore caves, visit offshore islands, learn Maluku traditional cooking, take painting courses, or visit some cafes.
The best time to go there is between the months of April – May and October – December during dry seasons. The sea is also calmer during this time. The pelicans that migrate from Australia can be seen in Kei around the month of May.
You can reach Kei Island by flight, but there are no direct flights from the capital city of Jakarta. Another option is to take the Pelni ship from Ambon, which makes a stop at Banda Island. Do check the schedule as it only passes by Kei in certain days every month.
Now that more travellers are coming, among some travel solution related local people (homestay owners, hotel staffs etc) understand and do basic communication in English. But overall English is not understood among locals.
