Lam Kinh ancient citadel, Thanh Hoa
Getting There - Lam Kinh historical relic site (Tho Xuan district) is located about 50km from Thanh Hoa city, covers an area of 200 hectares with many superficial works with a history of hundreds of years. This is the place where hero Le Loi raised the flag of rebellion against the invading Ming army.
Attractions - Lam Kinh Ancient Citadel is one of the special National Monuments with works of the Later Le Dynasty. Coming here, visitors are always fascinated by the mysterious colorful legends of a feudal dynasty that is considered the most flourishing in Vietnamese history.
After defeating the Ming invaders, in 1428, Le Loi took the reign of Le Thai To and named the country Dai Viet. The king built his capital in Thang Long (Hanoi) and built in his homeland Lam Son a citadel called Lam Kinh. This place has many large-scale temples and mausoleums for ancestor worship and the resting place of kings.
Lam Kinh ancient citadel in the north is based on Dau mountain, in front of the citadel is south and overlooking the Chu river - with Chua mountain as a screen, on the left is Phu Lam forest, on the right is Huong mountain and Ham Rong mountain blocking the west.
Lam Kinh festival started after King Le Thai To died and was buried in Lam Kinh in 1433. Today, every August 21 (Le Lai's death anniversary) and 22 (Le Loi's death anniversary) every 8th lunar month. Every year, people in the region hold the Lam Kinh festival to commemorate the merits of their ancestors.
