All Moments About Tanohata
The stunning Kitayamazaki Coast
Address: Kitayama, Tanohata, Shimohei District, Iwate 028-8402, Japan.
Getting there: I would highly highly recommend you to rent a car for visiting the Kitayamazaki Coast due to the infrequent public transportation options that are available.
Highlights: The Kitayamazaki coast is an eight kilometer long stretch of coastline in northern Iwate Prefecture. The best place to see the Kitayamazaki Coast is from the Kitayamazaki Observatory, a park at the northern end of the coastline where there are three observation decks from which to take in the breathtaking views.🥰
Another way to admire the Kitayamazaki Coast is from sightseeing boat cruises that depart from a small port near Shimanokoshi Station. You can also can spot various birds such as cormorants, eagles and ospreys nesting along the Unosu Cliff. 🤩

Sanriku Fukko National Park
Sanriku National Park is located in Iwate City, Tohoku Region, Japan. The area was hit hard by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, but has proven resilient.
The beaches are pristine, and are home to coastal seabirds, and the grasslands surround the large bay.
Take in the sea air, see the coast, and hike around the park. Watch the locals live their lives or relax in the lush grasslands.

From the ruins of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, Sanriku Fukko National Park proudly rises with tenacious vitality. It is a place that pays tribute to nature and a symbol of the revitalization of the community.
The park is rich in natural attractions: quaint fishing villages, pristine beaches, seaside breeding grounds for seabirds and vast grasslands. Every step is filled with the charm of nature. Walking here, you can feel the breeze, the call of the sea, and the thickness of the land.
The 180-kilometer Pacific coastline unfolds before your eyes like a picture scroll. It was once a severely affected area by the tsunami, but now it has become a beautiful landscape. Shrines, lighthouses, cliffs, bear-infested forests and fragrant grass gardens filled with wildflowers are all within sight and will make you linger.
