Hike to Truso Valley
If you are looking for an easy day hike from Kazbegi with maximum scenic reward? Truso Valley is the perfect choice. This 21 km round trip hike passes through a dramatic steep-sided canyon before entering the wide valley and leading to a crumbling hilltop fortress. There is plenty of interest along the way, including abandoned villages, monasteries, and colourful travertine mineral springs. The trail is mostly flat with fantastic mountain views all around, and it’s just 40 minutes drive from Kazbegi. #hiking #mountain #awesomepic
One of must visit wonder in Georgia
Located near to Mount Kazbegi, 2200 meters above sea level the view at the church is magnificent. If you’re planning to visit here for a quick getaway from Tbilisi city, its advisable to take a day tour because they will stop by few other places that considered as must visit in Georgia like Ananuri Fortress and Russia-Georgia Friendship monument. They can also drop you in Gergeti village if you’re planning to stay for few days.
If you keen to drive from Tbilisi it will take around 4 hours but you have to be an expert of driving as the road is full with lorry and sometimes sheep too.
Its worth to stay for few days too in Gergeti village as you can walk around the village, hike to the church and got to enjoy the view more. The road is super bumpy from the base to the church so if you easily get motion sickness bring your motion sickness medicine with you.

Kazbek is the most famous mountain of Georgia
Have you ever been to Georgia?
It is worth visiting this country at least to see the incredible Kazbek Mountain! At 5,034 m (16,515 ft) high, Mount Kazbek is the highest mountain in Eastern Georgia. It also the second-highest volcanic summit in the Caucasus, after Mount Elbrus.
At the foot of the mountain there is a small town of Stepantsminda, from where you can start trekking along Kazbek and enjoy the beautiful views of the Caucasus mountains!

Breath-Taking Scenery, Gergeti Church
#georgia #scenery Gergeti Church is located at the top of a mountain. It's kind of a long hike to get there. The hike is a bit difficult at the beginning before you reach the main road, but it's worth the effort. You also have the option to take ride up or down, or both for extra money. There is no entrance fee or any payment needs to be done. I won't advice you to drive all the way up with your car. You can park and take another 4x4 van or hike. Keep traveling and enjoy
Gorgeous Hotel Gorgeous mountain
Rooms Hotel Kazbegi is 5 stars hotel surrounded by snow mountains. We had such a wonderful stay!!
The room was in good size, not spacious, but not too cramped either. The view from the room was absolutely beautiful. But I think the bed and pillows were not that comfortable (comparing to other 5 stars hotel).
The lobby and the restaurant both offered stunning view of snow mountain. Breakfast was delicious. It was a buffer but everything they put on was tasty and seem like a high quality food. Dinner was also delicious and not expensive.
The highlight of Room Hotel, for me, was outdoor hot tube and indoor swimming pool. It was very special, nothing like I have ever seen before. I can spend a week here and not get bored.
Noted: Mountain view room is 70 USD more expensive than the one with no mountain view.
Kazbegi, Georgia
Getting There - by car or by bus
Attractions - mountains, mountains and mountains, on the top one of the mountains is a church, wich was built in 14th century
Hotels - there is lot of choices, for me I stayed in Tamta's guesthouse, it was way better than just guesthouse
Food & Restaurants - not really liked any

Gergeti Trinity Church - Kazbeki
What a view in Georgia! Driving hours from Tbilisi to Kazbeki was incredible and exciting experience. The weather was great and the view was amazing. I stayed in a friendly homestay and found that local people were so kind and nice even though they can speak little English. #stepantsminda #kazbeki #georgia #gergetitrinitychurch #roadtrip
Mount Kazbegi
Mount Kazbek or Mount Kazbegi is a dormant stratovolcano and one of the major mountains of the Caucasus, located on the Russian-Georgian border - in Russia's North Ossetia region and Georgia's Kazbegi District.
Religious corner of Kazbegi
#hiking #unforgettableexperiences #momentsmission #georgia #travelinspiration #naturalwonders When you look at the #church from afar, it looks like an ancient castle from fairy-tales, hidden in the #mountains . And indeed it is ancient, since it was built in the XIV century. When enemies were attacking, all the valuables from all over the country were brought to this place. The locals believe that it’s saint and actually magical. And this is really unexplainable and indescribable experience when you get up there to the church. You literally smell the the spirit of antiquity. Even though there are lots of tourists there, parishioners and church workers look like they still live in the older days.
This place made a strong impression on me. It’s a pity the time was limited, but I’m happy I got the chance to see and actually visit it. It’s a perfect place to just sit, relax, reflect, and think about eternity.
The best way to get there is definitely by car. The car will get you to the foot of Mount Kazbek and from there you can either walk or hire a van that will take you right to your destination.
Kazbegi Village - sunset in the mountains
#hiking #momentsmission #unforgettableexperiences #travelinspiration #georgia A small village of Kazbegi (or Stepantsmida, as the locals prefer to call it) is situated at the foot of Mount Kazbek. It’s a small settlement but with lots of things to do. First of all is the view. There are hotels with rooms facing Mount Kazbek. They are quite pricy but the view is absolutely worth it. If you are not willing to pay, you may just take a walk there and chat with some local people. They might even let you ride their horse if you are not scared. Another thing you can do there is #skiing . This is a breathtaking and unforgettable experience to ski through the snows of Kazbegi. Besides, one of my acquaintances who has seen lots of #mountains said that Kazbek is the most mesmerizing one. And it is true indeed.
After a long, steep climb in 32 degrees, we reached the view point of the glacier below mount Kazbeg. The route is clear and very busy. It can be difficult terrain at times, so walking boots and poles are advised. Climb time from the gergeti church was 2 1/2 hours and 1 1/2 hours descent.
Very well worth the effort for amazing unrivalled views.

Georgia
The sprawling Caucasus Mountains are covered with white snow, blue sky, white clouds, meadows, and lakes. It truly is a sanctuary for embracing nature! It's no wonder it's called God's backyard. The summit of Mount Kazbek is the legendary place where Prometheus was imprisoned by Zeus after stealing fire for humanity. The Holy Trinity Church 'the place closest to God'
Kazbegi has never been to Georgia for nothing
Believe that everyone's recognition of Georgia starts with the photos of Mount Kazbek.
Here lies the church closest to heaven⛪️—the Holy Trinity Church, which stands particularly solitary against the backdrop of the snowy mountains.
If you go to Georgia and don't visit Mount Kazbek, it's truly a wasted trip😭
Mount Kazbek is the sacred mountain of the Caucasians, with Kazbegi peak at an altitude of 5033 meters. Although it is the third highest peak in Georgia, it is the most magnificent one among the Caucasus Mountains.
📜Legend has it that Prometheus, the fire-stealer🔥 in Greek mythology, was chained to this mountain by Zeus.
The Holy Trinity Church of Stepantsminda, perched among the clouds☁️ at an altitude of 2170 meters, is known as 'the church closest to the sky in the world'.
This church was built in the 14th century, located among the clouds at an altitude of 2170 meters, backed by the Kazbek snow mountain of over 5000 meters. From the town of Stepantsminda, people can gaze👀 at this sacred church and the snowy mountain from afar.
The Holy Trinity Church on Mount Kazbek is different from those uniquely shaped, eye-catching church buildings in Europe🤔. It is built in a simple and rustic style, blending with nature, and the entire landscape is not abrupt but enough to shake the soul.
In Georgia, there is a belief that to get closer to God, one must make an effort, and only true believers will overcome the numerous difficulties of the mountains👣 to reach the church at the top. This church embodies this spirit of faith.
‼️If you want to see the golden glow of the sunrise on the mountain🏔️, you need to check the weather and sunrise time in advance, and arrive at the viewing spot early to have a chance to see it.
‼️If you want to see the snowy mountains, it is best to go from November to April, otherwise the snow❄️ will melt.
Approaching the Church Closest to the Sky in the World | Georgia
| Georgia. “Kazbegi,
you are like the crown of an emperor,
shining with eternal brilliance.”
The winter Kazbegi is covered in snow, and the Gergeti Trinity Church is indeed “the church closest to the sky in the world” as it is described. In summer, the green valleys are a paradise for hikers.
The weather might be too clear before arrival, with much of the snow on Mount Kazbek melted away. I messaged my friend saying I was a few days late, and the mountain was bare~ The window of the guesthouse faced the church on the mountain top, and without seeing the sunlight gilding the mountain, I could only hope for another chance to visit.
The entrance for hiking is right across the main road from the town bus station. Once you cross the Terek River, you are officially on the mountain trail. It took us less than an hour and a half to walk up the mountain at a leisurely pace. Seeing a building that looks like a ruined watchtower means you are on the right path. Don’t follow Google or Yandex maps; they only show the winding car roads. You can enter the church, but no photography is allowed. I only realized there was a sign at the door when I came out. The classic photo spot is along the main entrance of the church to the roadside. Of course, if you have enough time and energy, you can continue to explore, which I personally recommend doing in the summer.
Most tourists travel to and from Kazbegi from Tbilisi, with a normal one-way fare of 15 lari. Pay attention to the departure times for the return trip. Although there is a timetable at the town bus station, it is only for reference. The last bus often leaves earlier. I also encountered road conditions that day, with a one-hour delay before reaching Gudauri. The next day, there was heavy snow, and friends who stayed there said the road was closed and no one could enter or leave.
Additionally, the taxi fare in town to and from the mountain top is 40 lari per person. Walking saves money and feels more rewarding.
8 Things You Must Know When Traveling to Kazbegi!
If you're traveling to Georgia in winter, you can't miss Kazbegi. Along the way, you'll see snow-capped mountains, churches, and European-style buildings, making you feel like you're in Northern Europe! The Holy Trinity Church on Mount Kazbegi, which has been featured on the cover of Lonely Planet, is a must-see. Here are 8 essential tips for your visit~
1️⃣ You can drive, take a bus, or carpool to Kazbegi. However, due to the icy roads and potential road closures in winter, it's not recommended to drive. You can take a bus or carpool to the Didube metro station. After exiting the metro station, keep walking straight. After passing the vegetable market, you'll find the bus stop. Ticket price: 15 lari per person, the bus leaves when full, and it doesn't stop at scenic spots along the way! Carpooling is usually in 5 or 7-seat business cars, costing 40-50 lari per person, but you can bargain down to 30 lari. The carpool will stop at two scenic spots.
2️⃣ The main attraction is the Holy Trinity Church on the mountain. You can take a taxi or carpool from the town, with a round trip costing 60 lari! Besides the church, the small town at the foot of the mountain is also worth a visit, especially after it snows, it feels like Northern Europe.
3️⃣ It's recommended to stay for 2-3 days, as we wanted to see the sunrise over the golden mountain, and luckily we saw it on the third morning, so lucky!
4️⃣ There are many large dogs in the town, they may look fierce but they're actually quite well-behaved, sometimes they'll follow people around hoping for some food.
5️⃣ Regarding accommodation, many people recommend Rooms, but it's relatively expensive. There are also many snow-view hotels in the town, with amazing views, you can see the snow-capped mountains from the balcony~
6️⃣ There aren't many restaurants in the town, mainly serving Georgian cuisine. Cozy Corner is decent, with great grilled pork and lamb. Another one, Cafe 5047m, has a cozy atmosphere and good food.
7️⃣ For shopping, there are a few small and medium-sized supermarkets in the town where you can buy general household items, fruits, and snacks.
8️⃣ Clothing advice: We went there at the end of November, with temperatures around 0 degrees. It's recommended to wear down jackets, sweaters, thick pants; bring gloves and hats, and wear waterproof shoes.

This place is magical, we found it by luck when we were driving around Kazbegi. The view is wonderful and you can enjoy the nature to the most. There are restaurants around you. It has everything you need kitchen ware, washing machine, TV, etc. It gets pretty cold in winter here, October is still a good time to visit if you can't make it in the spring of the summer. 🇬🇪Georgia: Sameba Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Tbilisi
St. Trinity Church in Stepantsminda, Kazbegi, Georgia, stands on a steep mountain top at an altitude of 2170 meters and is known as the "church closest to the sky in the world".
The church was built in the 14th century, hidden and solemn, with a landscape that can shake the soul.
.
The exterior walls of the Holy Trinity Church are decorated with reliefs and carvings of sun, grapevines, and crosses, while only a few murals remain inside the church.
There is no electricity in the church, and the only source of light comes from narrow windows, so most of the day the interior of the church is in semi-darkness.
.
Due to its remote location, during the Persian invasion of Georgia in the 18th century, many precious artifacts from Mtskheta, including the Holy Cross of Saint Nino, were brought here for safekeeping in the church.
During the Soviet era, rulers once banned worship ceremonies in churches, but churches remained a pilgrimage destination.
.
It is said that in Georgia, there is a belief that to get closer to God, one needs to make an effort, and only true believers can overcome the difficulties in the mountains to reach the mountaintop church. Therefore, churches in Georgia are mostly found between mountain ranges.
.
In 1829, Pushkin traveled to Kazbek and created the poem "Monastery on Kazbek Mountain" depicting the magnificent scenery before him, yearning to live in seclusion by God's side, hidden in the clouds.
Gergeti Trinity Church
Gergeti Trinity Church is one of my favorite places in Georgia. It is located in Kazbegi which is three hours drive from Tbilisi.
The only way to go up to the church is to hire local driver with 4fwd car which cost 80 GEL. But I think it was worth to go.
The ancient church was very charming and still in used nowadays. But the rule was that you need to cover your head and wear skirt.
The view from the top was absolutely gorgeous. Although it was very foggy when we were there and we didn’t really see the whole mountain, I still think it was stunning.
Entrance fee: free
4x4 way to Gergeti
This is on the dirt road which only 4x4 can pass. it’s a view on the way to Gergeti church. in October 2022, the concrete road couldn’t pass, so you have to pay GEL70 (returns fare) for the 4x4 van to go up there. price is per van, could sit around 5-6 passengers.
The waterfall is during the crossing stream, this stream is in the valley.
In mid of October, few days has some snow but it’s still not accumulated to see snow in the daytime. the temperature is -2 C during the early morning and it’s 5 C during the day.
On Gergeti Church it can be very windy. You may need a wind stopper.
There is small hill that have telescope opposite of the church hill, it has best view. Also the last photo It’s taken at the parking 400 m. before arrive the church.
