✨️ Farewell to New Zealand 🇳🇿 I’ve loved New Zealand like a second home — 5 years and 3 months, from a 26-year-old full of energy and passion for new experiences, ready to do any job, changing workplaces countless times, until I became a 30-year-old who thinks more about health, loves being home as much as traveling, and has learned to cook and survive on my own. My IQ didn’t grow, but my EQ did. Food is expensive, rent is high, but cars are cheap — I bought a 7-seater for just 50,000 THB. Life was simple — weekends were just supermarket runs, cooking, and movies. Timaru, a small town two hours from Christchurch, was where I stayed the longest. The best part was driving — beautiful, empty roads, snowcapped mountains, and stunning views in every season. Nature was truly magical. People here are super chill — barefoot, no umbrellas, no makeup, no judgments. I rarely felt discriminated against. Even 10°C felt normal with just a light jacket. Second-hand stuff is common here. The air is so fresh. I even saw the Southern Lights near home. My English improved a lot. I avoided Thai groups and worked with Kiwis and Asians like Malaysians, Taiwanese, Chinese, and Indians — who became like family. I’m lucky to have met friends who cooked for me, worked 12-hour shifts but still chatted endlessly. Even hearing Chinese daily made me pick up some words. And of course, my life partner — we met during my first working holiday year in 2019. A Malaysian. It wasn’t easy at first — different cultures, languages, and visa situations. But time, patience, and love brought us closer. I can’t imagine life without him. Now it’s time for another big move. These past 5 years felt like living a dream. Indeed, I am beyond blessed to experience the beauty and wonders that New Zealand has to offer. The first photo was at Alpine Lavender near Lake Pukaki, where we travelled approximately 4 hours from Christchurch Airport. We only rent a car from the airport. The route was scenic and we really enjoyed the lavender farm and ate ice cream with lavender and mint flavor. So yummy .Then the second picture was at Hooker Valley track,where we travelled approximately 40 minutes to arrive there, and one of New Zealand's most stunning and popular hikes located in Mount Cook National Park . The third picture was in Queenstown Bay Beach, a beautiful lakeside spot on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. We travelled approximately 3 hours to arrive there from Mount Cook. If you want to see ✅ New Zealand's snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and canyons in one go, ✨ Hooker Valley Track is probably the best choice. 🚗 About 3.5 hours' drive from Queenstown 🚗 About 2 hours' drive from Lake Tekapo 🕘 The entire hiking trail is about 4-5 km one way, and the official reference time is 1.5 hours. Including the time for rest and taking photos, it takes about 4 hours. The road is flat, and many people even bring their children to play. · 🌦️ However, the weather near the glacier is very unstable, and it often rains. We went there three times and barely encountered a sunny day. ✅ You can check the weather forecast (the weather forecast on the Hooker Valley Track official website is more accurate) ✅ You can go to Mt Cook Alpine Salmon Shop to observe the weather. If there are dark clouds in the distance and you can't see the snow-capped mountains, it is basically raining. We checked the weather forecast and expected it to clear up at 8 or 9 am, so we rushed over before dawn (our flight was in the afternoon). · 🗺️ The hiking trail passes through three suspension bridges, mountains, canyons, and rivers, and ends at Mueller Lake 🏔️.
