Orang utan Island is located at bukit merah and is one of the best orang utan rehabilitation and conservation centres in the world. A verry educational tour you will be accompanying by a staff that will explain the conservation efforts as you walk along 200m cages area.We got to see many orang utan. The fish spa here is relatively cheaper than other places. It costs only RM15 per adult for 20 minutes, and RM10 per child. The owner was friendly and welcoming. He has a sweet daughter as his little helper. I notice the business was not good, if you happen to be here, please consider supporting locals. Other than fish spa, they also sell a variety of dragon fish, and some souvenirs. We booked a stay in Bukit Merah Laketown Resort and Waterpark. It came with a free buffet breakfast. The dining area was spacious and windy, and had a nice lake view. There were two sections, indoor and outdoor. Indoor provides a salad bar, toast, porridge and drinks. Outdoor serves Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng, Fried Fish, Half Boiled Eggs, and so on. Even though the buffet spread was simple with limited choices, the taste was decent. Ample seating to accommodate the crowd. Service was good, the staff were quick to replenish the food and clean the tables. Overall value for money. This is the only resort located next to the Bukit Merah Water Park. The price is very budget friendly. However, it is a very old resort, most facilities were run down. My biggest disappointment was that the room had a moldy smell, not really clean, and the floor was dusty. The bathroom is more like a public washroom. Hopefully the management could do something to improve on the cleanliness and facilities. The good points are: The swimming pool has a nice scenery view. Service was fast. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Decent buffet breakfast. I like the Nasi Lemak, potato salad and toast. Even though it is just a small petting zoo, I enjoyed myself so much. There were birds, goats, sheep, deer, ducks, goose, chicken, turtles, tortoises, rabbits, snakes, hamsters, guinea pigs, fishes and more. The animals are well kept and in good condition. Visitors can get really close to them. The peacocks are the most beautiful ones I have ever seen. Their tail feathers are so enchanting. The chicken and goose farms resemble my grandparents' house which I used to play and run around. I even get to touch and hug the cute rabbits, guinea pig and cats. Nice place to bring kids. Great place for vacation clean room and have a lot activities for adults and kids but pool is quite small. Shower water pressure high and speed Of WiFi also OK. A good place to get away from the cities. Breakfast is from 8 to 10am.The cafe of the resort sell a good food and at affordable price not otherwise hotel. Bukit Merah orangutan island is a sanctuary for rescued orangutans, it is only accessible by boat, I think it was opened in 2000, it looks after critically endangered borneo orangutan. It has beautiful jungle paths to walk and the orangutan are in massive enclosures, I think there was 12 orangutans there when I was there, you get a guide to take you round and they explain all the work that is happening. It was an amazing experience #Orangutan

Definitely worth a visit. Good educational place for a family outing. We enjoyed it thoroughly although the place is quite small and the tour was short. We got to see many orang utans.
