this historic site which has been a hidden gem. i stumbled upon this neighborhood during my trip to shimada city and was fascinated to read the history of the remain buildings of this beautiful post town which was located on the edo side of the oi river. what happened was the tokugawa era forbid the construction of any bridges or ferry services over the oi river. the procedure to cross the river was to have travelers to purchase a crossing permit and to be carried across the river either on the back of the poters or by palanquin. so this beautiful wooden banyado was built for people to gathered to rest, to make crossing and tickets were sold. #historicalsites #historicallandmarks

Family trip to Shizuoka Prefecture. My son is a big Thomas fan, so we decided to take him to see the real thing. After arriving at Shizuoka Station, we rented a car in front of the station and drove 1.5 hours west to arrive. We thoroughly enjoyed the trains while enjoying the nature of Shizuoka. When traveling, unique accommodations are an essential experience. Therefore, for this trip to Shizuoka Prefecture, I specifically booked two nights of distinctive and diverse lodging. "Campground Sanctuary" - Luxury Camping Next to Tea Fields Shizuoka is known as the "holy land of camping" in Japan, so the first night in Shizuoka must be spent experiencing camping! As a camping "novice", I'm actually a little excited. This reservation is for the luxury camping site of "Glamping & Port". The entire campsite was built from a local abandoned school. Some of the old school facilities were transformed into bathrooms, activity rooms, lobbies, and so on. Different sizes of luxury tent campsites were set up on the playground, which is quite creative. The campsite is located next to tea fields and forests, and as soon as you enter, you can feel the comfortable feeling of being close to nature. Walking into the tent, it really feels no less comfortable than a very comfortable hotel.
