Haweswater Lake: The hidden gem of England!
#aprilblooms
Haweswater Lake, located in the Lake District of England, is a serene and picturesque reservoir surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. It is one of the quieter and less visited lakes in the region, making it a perfect spot for those seeking tranquillity and a connection with nature. The lake was originally a natural body of water but was expanded in the 1930s to serve as a reservoir.
Tips:
- Haweswater Lake is ideal for hiking and bird watching, with several trails offering breathtaking views.
- The area is less crowded compared to other Lake District attractions, providing a peaceful experience.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water and snacks, as facilities around the lake are limited.
- The best time to visit is during the spring and summer months when the weather is mild and the scenery is lush.
Haweswater Hotel
#getgoing2025Visiting the Haweswater Hotel was a peaceful and relaxing experience. I ordered a hearty steak and ale pie, served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The pie was rich and flavorful, with tender beef and a perfect flaky crust. The mashed potatoes were creamy, and the vegetables were fresh and cooked to perfection. The meal cost around £16, which I felt was great value for the quality and portion size. The hotel’s setting by the stunning Haweswater Reservoir added to the charm, with beautiful views of the surrounding hills. The service was friendly and attentive, making it a lovely dining experience.
Haweswater: The Lake District’s hidden gem
Haweswater is one of the quietest, yet most picturesque bodies of water in the Lake District. Easily accessible from the A6, it provides a great escape from the crowds at Windermere of Keswick. There are plenty of walking opportunities for all abilities from an easy lakeside stroll to tackling some of the wainwrights the surround the lake. You can also visit the stunning art deco Haweswater hotel for a well deserved drink or bite to eat.
