Visit - Shaocheng "Forty-Eight" Shaozhou Park at Sunset

■ Shaozhou Park, located in the Xihe area of Wujiang District, Shaoguan City, is a newly built comprehensive park, a good place for citizens to relax and exercise. ■ It has been a few months since I last came here. I still remember the last time I came was during the "Dragon Boat Water" period, and today it is already "Beginning of Autumn." Days pass by one by one, no wonder the ancients said time flies like an arrow... and I don't even know what I've done, feeling like I've wasted time. Although today has entered the "Beginning of Autumn" solar term, the temperature is still very high. Even at six o'clock under the setting sun, the temperature has not decreased at all, and the wind blowing towards me feels like a heatwave. Entering Shaozhou Park from the west entrance of Shahu, it turns out that Shaozhou Park has several gates, and today I entered from the west entrance of Shahu, commonly known as the gate with a circular statue of Zhang Jiuling. Besides seeing the iconic circular hollow statue of Zhang Jiuling, walking up the stairs behind the statue, you can see a lake. The lake is stocked with koi fish, and there are quite a few of them. They should be fed regularly because they are all very plump. At the end of the lake, there is a pavilion called "Bamboo Shadow Pavilion," and unexpectedly, someone was singing there. Honestly, at first, I thought someone was shouting. Listening to the voice, it was an old man shouting. As I got closer, I found out the old man was singing. The old man was not singing a cappella; he was trying very hard to sing along with the music from a loudspeaker. Later, I heard clearly that the old man was singing "Love to Win." Although he was out of tune and completely off-key, the old man was very dedicated. I really admired the old man standing alone in the middle of the "Bamboo Shadow Pavilion," singing along with the beat from his phone as if he was holding a personal concert, and I was an audience without a ticket. Actually, as long as you enjoy it, it doesn't matter if you sing well or not. The key is to feel comfortable and happy. Of course, I didn't continue to listen but kept walking up. Along the way, I didn't see many people, which can't be compared to Forest Park. After all, Forest Park is a mature park, and this place is newly built. ■ Zhongshan Park, located at the confluence of Zhenjiang and Wujiang rivers in Shaoguan City, has a very advantageous geographical location. Every Shaoguan resident is very familiar with Zhongshan Park. You might say you haven't been to other parks in Shaoguan, but it's rare for someone to say they haven't been to Zhongshan Park. After all, it's close to the city center, and the transportation is very convenient. Whether driving, taking a bus, or even walking, it's easy to get there. However, places that are too familiar often get 'overlooked', including by me. When I was younger, I liked parks, but after starting work, I seldom visited them. Perhaps as I reached middle age, my mindset changed, and I gradually began to enjoy the slow-paced life of the countryside. ■ Although there hasn't been a typhoon in Shaoguan these past few days, it has entered the 'dog days' of summer, with temperatures rising daily. This sauna-like weather is unbearable even in the evenings. Such high temperatures make it impossible to go far, so it's suitable to visit places by the river or with lush greenery. That's why I specifically came to Zhongshan Park for a walk. Normally, I wouldn't think of coming here. In this hot weather, the park is almost empty, as most people prefer to stay in air-conditioned rooms. However, walking under the dense trees around the park's perimeter is still bearable. The entire park is divided into different areas. In the children's amusement area, although the machines are operating as usual, there are hardly any children playing at this time, so you mostly hear the music from the machines. I prefer the areas with ponds and willow trees. Firstly, they provide shade from the sun, and secondly, the water is visually soothing. In the evening, there are very few elderly people exercising in Zhongshan Park due to the high temperatures. Walking along the paths feels like having the park to myself. Nanhua Zen Temple

Nanhua Zen Temple is located in Caoxi, Qujiang District, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province. It covers an area of more than a thousand acres and has a wide range. It was built during the Liang Wu Emperor period. At that time, the Indian monk Zhiyao Sanzang found that Caoxi was a good place and suggested that the local officials request the Liang Wu Emperor to build a temple. Thus, the temple was built and named Baolin Temple. Later, some dynasties changed the temple's name. It wasn't until the Sixth Patriarch Huineng came here and taught for 37 years that it was renamed Nanhua Zen Temple, a name that has been used to this day. Nanhua Temple enshrines the mummified bodies of several patriarchs, including the Sixth Patriarch Huineng. It is a key national temple and is known as the ancestral court of Zen Buddhism along with Shaolin Temple in Songshan, one in the south and one in the north. It is also a base for cross-strait exchanges. At the "Baolin of the World" site, there is Zhuoxi Spring. The spring water flows down from the mountain, and many tourists and residents come to fetch the spring water to drink every day. They usually use mineral water bottles to collect the water or wash their hands and drink the spring water on-site. To drink this spring water, people often have to queue, sometimes waiting for half an hour to get a drink. Nanhua Zen Temple is the most important temple in the south, with a thriving incense offering. Many people come to burn incense and worship Buddha every day, especially to pay homage to the mummified bodhisattva of the Sixth Patriarch Huineng. The entrance fee is 20 yuan. Visiting Shaocheng - Charming Countryside 《Eight》 'Ou Wu Village'

■ Ou Wu Village, located in Chongyang Town, Shaoguan City, has very little information available online. Just by looking at the name, it might seem unfamiliar, but it turns out to be an old revolutionary base area. ■ It has been raining intermittently for a while, and it always rains after work, making it impossible to go to distant places. Fortunately, it didn't rain after work today, so I came to Ou Wu Village in Chongyang Town for a walk. As soon as I entered the village entrance, I saw an old tree that looked older than me. I noticed that every village has one or several such old trees, perhaps related to feng shui? In this hot summer, it's nice for villagers who have been busy all day to gather under the big tree and chat. Walking along the road into the village, there is a pond on the left side of the road, with a few children fishing by the pond. It's summer vacation now, and fishing is better than playing with mobile phones at home. On the right side of the road is an ancient-style brick and wood building, with a plaque in the center carved with 'Jiangxia Hall'. The whole building is very grand. I don't know if it is newly built because the archway on both sides is still under repair. It should not be an ancestral hall because the real ancestral hall is directly in front of this building. ■ I am very interested in such traditional buildings, so I definitely went inside to take a look. As I passed through the main entrance, I heard people talking. I thought the building was still under construction and was about to retreat when I realized that the nearby residential houses were being built too close, making me think it was still under construction. I would have left if it was under construction. Continuing forward, there was a side hall with nothing inside. Further inside was the main hall, with an incense burner on the offering table. Out of respect, I didn't take any photos, just bowed three times and then left. During my visit, no one came in, otherwise, I would have asked about the history of 'Jiangxia Hall'. After coming out, I wanted to take more photos, but the temperature was too high. Although it was past six o'clock, the sun was still up, and my phone kept sending high-temperature warnings...
