Traditional Houses in the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, Almost Entirely Built of Wood
This is Kyauk Kya Char Village in the Mae Nae mountain region of Hopong Township.
It's the village where the movie *An Embrace* was filmed .
Only in recent years have some brick houses begun to appear .
Kyauk Kya Char Village is located in the San Phu Village Tract, Hopong Township, within the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone.
️ The name "Kyauk Kya" evokes images of the century-old Taing Ti Ya Nan Hote Monastery, ancient Pa-O traditional houses, the beautiful Mae Nae mountains, and stunning scenery. This has made it a favorite village for travel vloggers, filmmakers, photographers, and both domestic and international tourists, earning it fame not only in Myanmar but worldwide.
️ From the Taunggyi-Hopong-Loilem highway, after passing Hopong but before reaching Tham San Cave, turn south onto the paved road at the sign indicating Special Region (6), Mae Nae Mountain Region, near Ywar Thit Village.
️ Ascending along the Mae Nae Mountain road, you'll pass beautiful villages (Hti Lan, Hti Bwar, Sa Ngaw, Nam Hu, Yoke Pay, Lone Kin, Lone Kwin, Lone Pay, Ban Soke, Lone Htee (San Phu)). After passing these, you'll arrive at the picturesque Kyauk Kya Village and the Nan Hote Taing Ti Ya Monastery.
️ Before reaching Kyauk Kya, the beautiful Sa Ngaw rice fields are also incredibly scenic.
️ Kyauk Kya Village has over 700 houses, mostly similar old two- or three-section houses (arranged along the winding roads). A paved road reaches the village, which has a high school, clinic, telecommunications services, and electricity. Despite the prevalence of old houses, it's a modern, clean, and pleasant model village.
Due to the dense forests and abundant tree cover, water reaches the houses, and the village has plentiful water flow throughout all three seasons: summer, monsoon, and winter.
️ The main crops are rice, cheroot leaves, corn, coffee, avocados, and tea, along with other diverse crops.
Currently, to allow visitors to fully appreciate the beauty of Kyauk Kya Village, the locals have built a viewpoint tower.
