Lawang Sewu
The not so scary Lawang Sewu
#myhiddengems
Lawang Sewu in the Javanese language is translated to mean "a thousand doors". And while the building does not really have a thousand doors, the massive, three-story structure is lined with numerous doors and windows that resemble doors, from which the building obtained its name...
Lawang Sewu is located on the Tugu Muda roundabout, in Semarang, capital city of Central Java and it is now a lovely building after being restored... .
Address - Jl. Pemuda, Sekayu, Kec. Semarang Tengah, Kota Semarang, Jawa Tengah 50132

MAU NGECHILL BARENG TEMAN YA DI SINI DI BLACKWOOD
AKHIRNYA ADA TEMPAT NGECHILL BARU YANG VIEW CITYLIGHTNYA SEICONIC INI✨
Ini salah satu project branding @hiddenlabs_ yang lumayan takes time.. Mulai dari ngusulin nama Blackwood (yang diambil dari bahasa Jepang : Yakisugi) bikin logo identity, ngusulin reference interior, foto menu, sampe printilan kecil kecil kaya seragam dll.. Akhirnya buka jugaa..
Konsepnya "Cityscape Dining Experience" gampangannya ini tu tempat buat kalian nikmati view Kota Semarang sambil makan makanan yang lumayan experimental✨
Tempatnya cukup compact, kapasitas 40-50an orang.. Memang dibuat seintimate mungkin..

Lawang Sewu
Lawang Sewu is classified as heritage. Cultural heritage which must be preserved as a silent witness to the nation's history, especially railways. Lawang Sewu is the building for the Dutch East Indies Railway or KAI of the Dutch East Indies. Lawang Sewu is a museum that contains photographs of stations, trains, and miniature trains. The building is still sturdy and of course has a typical European architecture at that time.

Grand Maerakaca
For educational tours, maybe this is the right choice. There are various kinds of traditional houses from various regions in Central Java, as well as natural attractions of mangrove forests. There are lots of instagramable photo spot areas, from local to foreign. The place is spacious, it's a suggestion if you come here during the day bring a hat or an umbrella because it's very hot.

Padma Hotel Semarang
Another #weekendgetaways in the capital of Central Java Province, Semarang city.
There are a few of five stars hotel in Semarang. This is the newest, Padma Hotel. Opened in September 2022 (only one year), it becomes my favorite hotel in town recently.
The lobby is super spacious and comfortable with nice seats and decoration. There's a gelato shop and restaurant in the same floor of the lobby. So, you and your family don't feel bored while waiting for check-in time. The rooms are spacious, and the facilities also great.
My favorite spot of this hotel is the swimming pool. It's clean, aesthetic, and instagrammable too. I guarantee you'll be happy being around their pool area ✨

Padma Hotel Semarang
A story of #weekendgetaways in Semarang.
Semarang will always be a city with many memories for me.
This time, I visited a newly built hotel name Padma. It is located in Jalan Sultan Agung, Candisari, Semarang. It's quite close to the downtown. You only need approximately 10 minutes driving to Simpang Lima, the famous place for hangout in Semarang.
The hotel has a great facilities and services. It's also good for bringing your kids here. They have swimming pool for kids. And the adult's pool is great either! I love the outdoor pool area. While waiting the breakfast time, you can walk around here and breath the fresh air in the morning.
The Oldest Chinese Temple In Semarang⁉️🇮🇩
📸The Great Temple Of Sam Poo Kong, Semarang
The Sam Poo Kong Temple, also known as Gedung Batu (the Stone Building), is the oldest Chinese temple in Semarang, capital of the province of Central Java.
Unlike most temples, the building does not belong to any specific religion, but rather functions as a place of worship for people of various ethnicities and religious groups including Buddhists, Taoists and muslims. The temple is located on Jalan Simongan, West Semarang.
The temple is painted with a magnificent red color and crowned with a triple-layered pagoda-style roof, typical of East Asian culture. The surrounding area is thick with incense smoke, giving the feel of being in China itself.

Historical Place In Indonesia⁉️👀🇮🇩
📍Lawang Sewu, Semarang
Lawang Sewu is a historic building owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) which was originally used as the Head Office for the Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij (NISM) private railway company.
The main building was started on 27 February 1904 and finished in July 1907. While the additional buildings were built around 1916 and finished in 1918.

Hotel Chanti Semarang with Festive Breakfast!
One thing I love about this hotel was their breakfast! There were sooo many choices of food, not just the mainstream hotel food like nasi goreng, sausage etc, but beside those food there were pecel, sushi, miso soup, dimsum, cotton candy, so many desserts, and much more.
The location was great, at the center of the city and near some malls. Room was great and comfy, too. It has carpets and it was clean (I saw them clean carpets with a big vacuum). The bathroom was fairly clean, hot water worked fine, and there was an electric kettle, fridge (but not cool enough), wide screen TV, safety box, and the AC worked really well (so cold).
My family booked 5 rooms for 3 nights, all paid and done. But too bad there were always problems with the administration. 3 times they made mistakes! And one of them was even when I was already home! Too bad, the hotel was really great but the receptionist and administration were not professional.

The Stunning Pool of Grand Edge Hotel Semarang
Grand Edge Hotel Semarang is located in Gajahmungkur area, Semarang. It's quite strategic since it's very close to toll gate, and good access to the downtown. Most favorite part of this hotel is its rooftop area in the 8th floor. There's a bar where they do live music everynight, also the infinite swimming pool where we can see the view of Semarang city. This area is family and kids-friendly.

Beautiful Lawang Sewu at night
A visit to Semarang won't be complete if you don't make time to stop by Lawang Sewu.
This Dutch-style building has long been an icon of the capital city of Central Java. Lawang Sewu not only presents classical beauty but also historical tourism.
The building, which is famous for its large number of windows and doors, looks bright at night. Lawang Sewu can indeed be visited during the day or night. Operational hours at Lawang Sewu start at 07.00 – 21.00.
Witnessing this classical architectural splendor at night has its own sensation. Even though it was night, the visitors who came were not small. The sidewalks are always filled with visitors who sit back or just take pictures. Entering the building, the lights were highlighted in the darkness of the night. These lights add to the beauty of Lawang Sewu.
Exploring old buildings at night, of course, has its own impression. The long alleys seemed quieter at night. Even so, the mystical or frightening impression is no longer felt. Walls, doors, windows and other building accessories now look well maintained and clean. The impression of being old and unkempt can no longer be seen in this building, which was completed in 1907.
You can enjoy the beauty of the city of Semarang at night from the balcony of the second floor of Lawang Sewu. After the restoration, Lawang Sewu did try to get rid of its mystical impression.
Compared to day, night is better. The lights are on so it looks prettier.
Gedung Marba Semarang
The Marba Building is one of the central points that attracts the attention of tourists while in the Heritage area of the Old City of Semarang. How could I not, the color is the most contrasting compared to other old buildings which are predominantly white. Like a cup of milk, Gedung Marba is a sprinkling of chocolate on the surface.
This two-story building was built with bricks without plaster painted red. Every bone of the building is painted white so that it has an art deco feel too if people nowadays say.
The position of the Marba Building is also very strategic because it is on the "front cover" of the Old City, along with other popular buildings including the legendary Blenduk Church.
No wonder this building is one of the targets of tourists to use as a background when taking pictures.
Unfortunately, not just anyone can enter this building. Because even though it is old, the Marba Building is still used as a company office. So that only the front can be explored by tourists.
From the existing literature, the Marba Building, more than a century ago, was built and used by merchants from Arabia, Yemen to be precise, for their trading business center. Marta Badjunet, the name of this wealthy merchant. The Marba building is taken from its abbreviation. Marta Badjunet became Marba, that is.
Semarang history observer, Yongki Tio (80), explained that the old city used to be the city center and business center. Initially, many buildings were made for offices there. Meanwhile, the merchants chose to live by building houses in the upper Semarang area in the south, which is now called the new temple area.#semarang #oldtown
Old Town Semarang
The Old City of Semarang, which is also called Little Netherland, certainly has its own charm for tourists. Classic buildings that adorn the streets and a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere make Kota Lama a tourist spot that you must visit in Semarang.
Not only is the architecture pleasing to the eye, this historic part of the city of Semarang is perfect for a holiday destination because the area has many hotels ready to pamper you after a long day of sightseeing.
Within this historic area there are many beautiful cafes and restaurants with an authentic feel. Don't worry, the price of food here will be affordable.#kotalama #semarang
Lawang Sewu Semarang Central Java
#lawangsewu #semarang
Lawang Sewu is an ancient Dutch heritage building which was built in 1904. Originally this building was for the headquarters of the Dutch colonial railroad (tram) company or Nederlandsch Indishe Spoorweg Naatschappij (NIS). This three-storey building in art deco style (1850-1940) was the work of well-known Dutch architects, Prof. Jacob F Klinkhamer and BJ Queendag. Lawang Sewu is located on the east side of Tugu Muda Semarang, or at the corner of Jalan Pandanaran and Jalan Pemuda. Called Lawang Sewu (Thousand Doors), this is because the building has very many doors. In fact, there are less than a thousand doors. This building has many tall and wide windows, so people often think of it as a door.

Inside the buliding you can see many art pieces about the architecture of Lawang Sewu. You can also see few miniatures of the buildings and trains here. Night time in Semarang

Lawang Sewu in the heart of Semarang
Lawang Sewu, literally Thousand Doors, is a landmark in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, built as the headquarters of the Dutch East Indies Railway Company. The colonial era building is famous as a haunted house, though the Semarang city government has attempted to rebrand it. That's what Google said. Hehe. Well it is so historical building with uncountable doors. I love the design although not all spaces are opened for public with limited lighting too in some area. Entrance fee is cheap even for foreigner. Everything is unique including toilet itself, although mostly rooms are empty.#urbanexplorer
