San Jose is a great choice!
✈️ The history of San Jose dates back to the 17th century when Spanish colonists established a small settlement here. Over time, the city has grown and developed into the political, economic, and cultural center of Costa Rica.
🛩️ Today, San Jose has modern buildings, bustling commercial areas, and rich tourism resources, attracting a large number of tourists to visit.
🛫 In San Jose, you can visit many historic churches and museums to learn about the history and culture of Costa Rica.
🛬 In addition, the city also has beautiful parks and squares, such as San Jose National Park, Arenal Volcano National Park, etc., for tourists to enjoy the natural scenery and outdoor activities.

San Jose | Silicon Valley
Driving all the way from San Francisco to San Jose. For the sake of time, I live around Sanford in the prior night and it is approximate a 45 drive to the Apple Park.
As a big fan of Apple, Apple Park is a must for me :)
📍I would say San Jose is a quite peaceful destination, especially compared to San Francisco, it is quite quiet. Probably I went there on public holiday. If that was a common working day, I bet there must be hustling as from the size of the building clusters, I know there must be tons of people.
No much to explore and just there for some spiritual belief. Lol
On our way back to San Francisco, we purposely choose the California state route 1. And there are lots of cars along the roads as well as tourists. Along the way, you can see there are many car parks and if you are interested into the scene, you can just stop by before heading to the next destination.
But I heard that the most attractive part is the way towards Los Angeles, I would definitely go there the next time!!!

Walked down memory lane
Spent a day in downtown San Jose. It has been 39
years since my last visit. Original Joe, the restaurant, is still around. The used to be tallest building on campus (Business Center) is no longer the tallest. But the icon : the Spartan and the iconic building are still around. Since the campus is located downtown, there is not much room for expansion other than up. Even that, the university campus covered at least 6 blocks. The university is accessible via VTA (light rail or locals call tram).

Piping Hot Soup @ JINYA Ramen Bar
Stopped by a ramen bar on the night we reached San Jose as we were craving for some hot spicy soup! The reviews online were good and also they were one of the few restaurants that closed later in the evening (imo it's quite rare to find restaurants open past 10pm in the US). Overall the food and side dishes were good especially when we paired them with some hot sake!
Address - 925 Blossom Hill Rd Suite 1637, San Jose, CA 95123, United States
Ambiance/Facilities - Outdoor dining is available and they have heat warmers around us, so it was not an issue. In fact it was very refreshing for us to dine outdoors during winter.
Highlights - Their soup base is really good!
Avg. Price per Person - Approx 40 USD per pax after taxes & service charge (they have implemented a mandatory 16% service charge recently so we saw a sharp increase in our before and after amount >< )
Rating - 3.8/5

Winchester Mystery House
Built by an eccentric woman for more than 30 years, the Winchester Mystery House is an architectural oddity that defies explanation.
It’s a gigantic, Victorian-style mansion with literally hundreds of rooms, windows, staircases, corridors and closets, but they don’t follow any kind of design.
The staircases lead nowhere. The doors are oddly shaped and spaced.
Many hallways are more like labyrinths than passageways in a home.
Some people say that its builder, a wealthy widow named Sarah Winchester, came unhinged after the death of her husband.
Others say that she was trying to confuse the ghosts of people killed by Winchester rifles; her husband was their inventor, and that’s how she inherited so much money.
Some people say that the house is still haunted to this day.
Regardless of the story that you believe, the Winchester Mystery House is a unique, must see destination in California.
If you’re looking for neat things to do in San Jose or the Silicon Valley area, grab your energy reader and go ghost-hunting in one of the most bizarre buildings in the world.

The Winchester Haunted House, which is probably the only one of the world's most famous haunted houses, is open to the public. With the release of the movie of the same name at the beginning of the year, there is a constant stream of visitors.
Winchester Ghost House is an elegant Victorian building in downtown San Jose, California. It covers an area of 24,000 square feet and has a mysterious and mysterious atmosphere during the day. The hostess Sarah was the rifle maker. After William invented the rifle, the only daughter who was born just married, and her husband, William, passed away five years later. Later, a wizard told Sarah that their family had been cursed by the undead because many of them were killed because of the rifle that the husband invented.
is not so much a haunted house as it is a wonderful work in the history of architecture, the windows on the ground, the stairs on the wall, the door leading to the nowhere... These brain holes are also unacceptable!
The trouble that Mrs. Winchesters life is a ghost is a conscience that has been tortured by guns to gain huge fortune...

Delicious Italian Cuisine in San Jose 🇺🇸
#hiddengems
📍Maggiano’s Little Italy, Santana Row, San Jose
We had a lovely Italian cuisine for dinner while travelling to San Jose. The atmosphere and ambiance was lively and inviting, with attentive staffs serving us. It is a huge restaurant, has both indoor and outdoor seatings, is able to accommodate large groups of patrons visiting. It’s a fairly popular restaurant, especially on some special occasions, would recommend to make reservations ahead. Food was served pretty fast and the food portion was huge! Stuffed mushrooms and seafood platter were delicious and nicely cooked. Love the fried seafood coated with a thin layer of batter adding crunch to its texture. While we ordered 4 pasta dishes, I personally love the shrimp scampi and the seafood linguine! Would love to revisit someday!

Japanese Friendship Garden 🪴🌸
#SpringDate
🌺
Cherry blossoms that turn into a sea of beautiful pink flowers and a beautiful scenery.
When I arrived at the park, the beauty of my surroundings stopped me in my tracks. The cherry blossom trees that stretch along the corridors and alleys provide a charming and romantic view of the place. There are many different types of cherry blossom trees, making the scenery more diverse and beautiful. I was amazed by the beauty of the pink flowers that covered the trees and fell with the wind, creating a charming and attractive scenery.
I walked around the wide corridors and beautiful greenery and learned about the design of traditional Japanese gardens. I enjoyed walking on the wooden bridges that hung over the pond and enjoying the beauty of the aquatic flowers and plants. I also enjoyed sitting in the area dedicated to rest and relaxation and enjoying the peace and quiet that the park offers.
🌸
After exploring the park and enjoying the beauty of the flowers, you visit the adjacent museum that showcases Japanese culture and art. I learned about the history of Japanese culture and enjoyed the wonderful artifacts and beautiful handicrafts. This visit was an opportunity to learn about Japanese history and art and enjoy the unique details. 🌺
My experience visiting the Japan Friendship Garden and Museum in spring was fascinating and amazing. I enjoyed the beauty of flowers and the splendor of nature, and benefited from cultural and artistic knowledge. Visiting this park and museum in spring is an unforgettable experience and creates beautiful memories.
🌸
If you are planning to visit (city name) in spring, I recommend visiting the Japan Friendship Garden and Museum. History San Jose
This is basically a resting place for buildings from San Jose's past, including the light tower, and numerous homes belonging to important people from San Jose's history.
There are many historical buildings all around, such as Portuguese museum, Chinese, and Vietnamese Victorian buildings, clean well kept gardens, Candy gift shop, Pacific Hotel, and even an old-fashion ice cream shop within the park. This History park reveals Santa Clara Valley's past, many businesses, best kept landmarks and various other best attractions.
Plenty of exhibits plus a lot of info on the history of the area. A great spot for Holiday photos as well once their decorations are up.

San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles
This is a hidden gem of San Jose. Small museum but very well kept with interesting textile art. You would have to come here and appreciate the artwork of these artists. The quilt technique and the fabrication that they used are incredibly intricate
Some were visually stunning, others with gorgeous handmade textiles or even paper, still others displayed incredible quilting craftsmanship. Most artists specified the meaning or message of their work, which deepened out appreciation.
Gift shop is small and cute and it comes with a nice sturdy hand made bag made by volunteers when you buy something. We all enjoyed it a lot.

Japanese American Museum of San Jose
Although the museum is small, it contains a lot of information and artifacts and explains the history of Japanese American in America. In the back, they have farm equipments and household items.
The presenter was amazing and knowing she was in the internment camps as a kid and her stories were so valuable and brings reality to heart.
Aside from that, the museum is clean, items well described, and well organized. Excellent barracks display and farm equipment display. It’s a very interesting and informative museum, check it out if you’re near Japan town.

Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum
Amazing hidden gem in the heart of San Jose. It looks small from the outside but like the ancient pyramids, there's more than meets the eye.
There are actually several levels inside, including an underground tunnel and recreation of a tomb deep within the catacombs. The grounds are much more extensive than what can be seen from the street and are nothing short of spectacular, including sculptures, fountains and ancient Egyptian symbols hidden amongst the myriad trees and swaying Papyrus.
There are plenty of authentic artifacts and relics to look at and to read about. The tomb replica were you walk-thru was a nice touch and gave it an immersive experience.

San Jose Museum of Art
This is a small museum in San jose downtown that focuses on modern art. The museum itself has very few exhibits spread over two floors and can be seen within an hour. Would recommend a visit if you're in the area and have lot of time on your hands.
Lots of wonderful exhibits which displayed a variety of mixed media from photography to water color to textiles to glass to use of protected videos on the wall.
Food and drink are not allowed. Very relaxing and inspiring environment. Super friendly and helpful staff. It was my first visit and I would highly recommend it to others.

Municipal Rose Garden 🌹✨
Beautiful garden with tons of different types of roses and beautiful scenery. The roses smelled incredible as well.
Instagram worthy photos everywhere. There were lots of people taking photos including recent graduates in their gowns. Others were having picnics on the grass, it was a lovely time.
It is not a very big garden but lots of people visit here during weekends. There is huge empty ground is also available for picnic and benches are placed around fountain to people to sit and enjoy.
There is street parking on all four sides of the garden and public restrooms there too. There are always spots available.

Winchester Mystery House 🇺🇸
#timetotravel
The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California, is an architectural enigma that has fascinated me since my visit. This sprawling mansion, constructed by Sarah Winchester, widow of the rifle magnate, is a labyrinthine masterpiece of mystery and intrigue.
Exploring its 160 rooms, staircases leading to nowhere, doors opening into walls, and hallways that twist and turn unexpectedly, I was enveloped in a sense of bewilderment and wonder. The mansion's unique design, said to be guided by spirits, leaves visitors with countless questions and an eerie yet captivating atmosphere.
The beautiful gardens surrounding the house provide a serene contrast to its enigmatic interior. The mansion's rich history, including stories of supernatural occurrences, only deepens the intrigue. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a paranormal believer, or simply curious, the Winchester Mystery House is a must-visit. It's a journey into a world of architectural eccentricity and a glimpse into the mysteries of the human spirit.
