We traveled from Tengchong to Mangshi, and stopped by Ruili on the way. ① Tengchong to Ruili The highway takes more than 2 hours. There are few cars on the highway. You can stop and rest at the Yingjiang Service Area on the way, which is a very special service area. ② One Tree Forest Our driver took us to a village, not far from Hansa. ③ One Village, Two Countries A must-see for tour groups. However, after the pandemic, the two countries were separated by barbed wire, and the "One Village, Two Countries" is just a name. The boundary marker can only be seen through the fence. In addition to the various "two countries" attractions, there are only red brick buildings to take pictures of. There is a peacock garden in the scenic area, where peacocks are free-range and can be seen up close. ④ Jiegao Border Gate The border trade zone is now very depressed, with 90% of the shops on both sides of the road closed. There seem to be more Burmese cars than local cars, and many of them come here to pick up goods. There is also a Tianya Diao Jiao Monument next to the border gate, which is also the end of National Highway 320. The duty-free shop has no price advantage, but you can buy some Southeast Asian snacks. ⑤ Mori Tropical Rainforest Personally, I think this is the most recommended attraction in Ruili. It takes about 1 hour to reach the waterfall from the entrance of the scenic area, and the road is relatively flat and not tiring. The vegetation here is wide and dense, and the forest is different from Gaoligong Mountain. Dining We had lunch at a random small restaurant in the city, featuring a variety of sour and spicy dishes. We were staying in Mangshi, and 10 of us rented a minibus for a day tour of Ruili. The fare was RMB 100 per person. The driver was a local and also served as a tour guide. Communication was smooth. We gathered at 8 am and left the city. The first attraction was the Nanyang Overseas Chinese Mechanic Anti-Japanese Memorial Hall, which has a statue of Tan Kah Kee and a monument to overseas Chinese who fought against the Japanese. At noon, we went to the One Village, Two Countries attraction. The ticket was RMB 39, and it was free for people over 70. The border was marked by a dry riverbed, and there was a 4-meter-high fence on the Chinese side. Burmese people were selling cigarettes outside the fence. After lunch, we took a stroll around Ruili Customs. The gate was closed, so we couldn't travel abroad. The food was not expensive. There was a buffet with more than 10 dishes, including meat and vegetables. I paid RMB 10 for my meal.
