BEAUTIFUL ancient city in Thailand
took the train straight from Bangkok to this ancient city Ayutthaya. all the temples and sites give you a sense of history and feelings of sacredness.
you need to pay most of the temples but it’s all around 40-60 bhat! and In every single site you are able to read the history and stories behind!
strongly recommended to every traveller who’s coming to Thailand!!! #unesco#ayutthaya#thailand#backpack#境外遊#awesomepic #staycation
Phra Nakorn Sri Ayuttaya is one of the old capital of Thailand. Located about 80 km north of Bangkok. Train from Hua Lamphong railway station to Ayuttaya station, round 1 and a haft hr, cost only 15 baht a person. We hired tuktuk to go around town and visited old temples and palace of Ayuttaya. This place is full of history really a nice visit.
Relive Ayutthaya's Ancient Glory
Pra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, or simply Ayutthaya is an ancient city which served as Siam's second capital after Sukhothai. Strategically situated along three rivers which connected the city to the sea, it was stablished in 1351 by Ramathibodi I, also known as U Thong, and continued to flourish for 400 years until the Kingdom's demise.
On its glory days, Ayutthaya is considered a modern city, with very modern architecture very much advanced of its time and are comparable to any big European cities. It was included a complex of grand temples and and pagodas which were estimated to be not less than 400, some of which still stand today and are protected after being considered UNESCO Heritage site. Ayutthaya is also said to be the precursor of the modern day Bangkok.
Located about 70-80 kilometers north of the present day capital, Bangkok, The Ancient City of Ayutthaya and what remains thereof can be reached through a quick 90 minute train ride from Hua Lumphong Station. One can opt to take the bus at the Northeast Terminal.
Relive the ancient glory of this once powerful and dominant kingdom and take a glimpse at its historic past.

Natural Art of Rocks!
One of the amazing things you can see in Qinglan Guaijiu Valley is the art of these rocks I mean they look like they are arts but they are definitely natural. It is incredible to see these stylish and artistic nature. I think one of the movies in China took place here because I saw some posters around and Chinese people seem like talking about it. It also has a cave it's not a big one but it's worth to see since you have to pass there going to the other waterfalls. The cave has colorful lights so it's not hard to find the way just be careful. It's slippery. Too bad the glass bridge isn't available for viewing anyhow the place is one of the best to visit in Raoping County. We enjoyed walking and the scenery.

Waterfalls in Raoping County!
It was worth visiting Qinglan Guaijiu Valley. The scenery is amazing. The waterfalls are great. I think if it has a lot of water it must be more beautiful. It's refreshing. Walking around is comfortable and if you're hungry you don't have to worry, restaurants are accessible. I recommend to eat first before exploring the valley. Entering this park, you have to pay 80 rmb per person. Well, it's a bit pricey I think it's probably because of the holiday. It is a good one to explore though. Getting there by car is more convenient. It has a parking lot so it is not troublesome. The parking fee is 10 rmb. It's not that much I think. We spent I think an hour or so.

A little Amsterdam feels!
We went to Qinglan Guaijiugu National Geopark in Raoping, Chaozhou, Guangdong. We stopped by here on the way to Nan Ao Island. We went there by car so it was convenient to stop whenever or wherever we wanted. And this park has parking area so that's nice. We paid 80 rmb per person. This park is huge and it's full of nature. When you enter the park, this windmill will be your first stop and have some cute snaps. It has some other things around where you can take some photos but this windmill is my favorite one. I love the atmosphere and there weren't a lot of people that time. It's probably because of the outbreak so people just prefer to stay home.

Climb Raoping Shibi Mountain and immerse yourself in the relaxing mountain and water culture.
In the morning, as the sun shines on the earth, I set off on a journey to Raoping Shibi Mountain. This natural treasure, located in the north of Raoping County, Chaozhou, Guangdong, attracts countless tourists with its magnificent scenery and profound cultural heritage.
As soon as I entered Shibi Temple (Leiyin Zen Temple), I was attracted by its simple and elegant architectural style. The Mahavira Hall is backed by a natural stone wall, which is magnificent. Here, you can appreciate the charm of ancient architecture.
In addition to Leiyin Zen Temple, Shibi Mountain has many attractions worth visiting. Walking along the mountain road, you will be attracted by the natural scenery here, lush trees, crystal-clear mountain springs, and strange rocks of various shapes... Every place is unforgettable.
Of course, how can you not take photos in such a beautiful place? I specially selected several excellent shooting spots, such as the viewing platform on the top of the mountain, the courtyard of Shibi Temple, and those mysterious corners hidden in the mountains and forests. Here, you can release your passion for photography and leave beautiful memories.
In addition to playing, you must not miss the local food. Raoping has a wide variety of delicious food with unique flavors. I tasted local snacks, such as Raoping beef balls, fish balls, and rice noodles, each of which is unforgettable. In addition, the seafood here is also very fresh and delicious. If you like seafood, don't miss it.

Chaozhou Qinglan Park.
To the north of Chaozhou is Raoping. Qinglan Mountain is located in Raoping. Qinglan Mountain, also known as Qinglan Guijiu Valley, is a mountain valley with high peaks and many streams.
At the entrance to the mountain, there is a straight path with wisteria trellises to provide shade from the sun. After the straight path, you will see a stream. Follow the stream, with the mountain wall on your left. The path is wide, and the steps are mostly made of wood, forming a boardwalk.
In the valley, there are many streams and waterfalls, and the paths are often guided by the streams, with many scenic spots for resting and photography. However, there are few birds, and after walking for a while, you will rarely hear birdsong. There are also many eucalyptus trees, which are said to be poisonous, so insects do not infest them, and birds do not inhabit them.
At the end of the path, you will not reach the bottom of the valley, but the mountainside. Tired and trembling, you can take an electric car out of the valley and back to the wisteria trellises. Looking north from the path, you will see a breathtaking view of overlapping mountains and misty peaks, like a fairyland.

The Daoyun Building is located in Nanlian Village, Sanrao Town, Raoping County, Chaozhou City, and is the largest octagonal tulou. In 1477, the Huang family ancestors invited a feng shui master to choose a location to build the building. Initially, the geomancer chose this place, but then thought that perhaps the next place would be better. After surveying several places, they still felt this place was the best and returned here. The name Daoyun Building, which sounds like 'reversing fortune,' thus arose. The tulou was originally round, and after three constructions and three collapses, the feng shui master said that this place was a 'crab land,' which required the suppression of the eight legs of a crab with the Bagua, giving the building its unique octagonal shape. To the north of the building is Pen Rack Mountain, which is used to boost literary fortune, hence the building faces north. When the tulou was finally completed after three generations, it was the year 1587. In 1647, Huang Jin, a former Minister of Rites who resigned after the fall of the Ming Dynasty, inscribed its plaque. The tulou has a circumference of 328 meters, an inscribed circle diameter of 101.2 meters, a height of 11.5 meters, a wall thickness of 1.6 meters, and a total area of about 10,000 square meters. The octagonal shape corresponds to the eight trigrams of the I Ching; there are 16 skylights, 32 wells, 72 rooms, and 112 ladders, all multiples of eight; each unit has three entrances and three floors, corresponding to the three lines of the Bagua; the two central wells correspond to the two fish eyes of yin and yang in the Taiji. Due to the cluttered self-built houses and cramped surroundings, the exterior of China's largest octagonal tulou does not look spectacular. After paying a 15 yuan entrance fee and passing through the alleyway, the spacious courtyard suddenly appears, bright and open. The residents inside the building have completely moved out, and the exhibition has not yet been set up, leaving the building large and empty. On the third floor, there is a corridor that allows one to walk around the entire building. After queuing and squeezing onto the third floor, the impression of Daoyun Building is finally set: a colossal structure, where a 14mm wide-angle lens cannot fully capture the second ring of Daoyun Building. Daoyun Building has an atmosphere entirely different from those World Heritage tulous in Fujian, with mountains stretching out like a desk, clouds rolling and unfolding in the sky, completely free from the cramped feeling of other tulous, replaced by a sense of exhilaration and ease.
Traveling during the Spring Festival in Chaoshan
Letting the horse run free in Chaoshan, Chaoshan includes the four prefecture-level cities of Chaozhou, Jieyang, Shantou, and Shanwei. Originally, they were all one entity. It is possible that the strong clan consciousness of the residents of Chaoshan and their fierce folk customs made them difficult to manage, so they were split into four prefecture-level cities. As a result, they each have their own sense of belonging. I think there is a bit of a divide and rule intention.
Shantou is a typical example of being split from Chaozhou. Shantou is also the least noticeable of the special economic zones. Among the four original special economic zones, Shantou's biggest advantage was the large number of overseas Chinese living abroad. Remittances and overseas Chinese contributions should have been the most effective advantage. However, after decades, it turned out to be of no significant use. This may have something to do with the major fire at the Shantou Guest House in 2000. Since then, its economic development has declined, affecting the entire Chaoshan area, until the situation improved in the last decade.
During the Spring Festival, there are a super number of people traveling to Chaoshan. Traveling in the south at this moment, if the weather is clear, is very comfortable. The sunny days warm the travelers, and there is no feeling of freezing hands and feet like in the north during travel. Public holiday travel means crowds everywhere, bustling and jostling. Coming to Chaoshan, almost all the well-known tourist spots are packed with people, and the navigation software is so congested it turns dark red. Not going would be regrettable, but going can be frustrating. After planning to visit each scenic spot briefly, I intended to go to Nan'ao Island for two days of leisure, to enjoy the sea breeze, smell the sea, and listen to the waves. However, it seems that everyone had the same idea, converging on the same destination.
My WeChat friend, lawyer Huo Liang, said that it takes nearly six hours to drive the forty-minute journey from Shantou to Nan'ao Island. Some hotel booking platforms quote prices for accommodations ranging from a few thousand to tens of thousands of yuan. Plans cannot change as quickly as this; one must quickly modify their itinerary.
Opening the map, I chose the more secluded Xunzhou Island along the coast. Driving there, taking a fishing boat to the island, it feels like smuggling when the night is dark. Staying at a homestay run by island fishermen, the price is already multiple times the usual rate. From parking to dining and accommodation, everything is more expensive. Perhaps this is a more niche attraction, without the call of internet celebrities, the flow of people is rarely seen as elegant and quiet. At this time, relaxing the mind, savoring the rare slow life, leisurely recuperating is for a full revival after the holiday.

Family vacation spot
📍Raoping County, Chaozhou·Dadulin Manor I really don't want to share it because I'm afraid that too many people will go and the price will rise. But I'm really happy that there is such a beautiful vacation manor in my hometown.
The entire garden design is very atmospheric and minimalist, which is also a decoration style that young people love. There are many different room types. We booked a space capsule and a luxury suite. The real scene is much more beautiful than the official website. All the pictures are live pictures. In short, you will be surprised and rest assured that you will not be deceived!
The manor is not big but the hardware and software facilities inside are very good. There is a Chinese medicine bath that can soak in the soup. The late-night snacks are Chaozhou seafood rice noodle soup and white porridge. There is a 24-hour self-service coffee shop. Breakfast is also free~ Especially the farmhouse restaurant inside, the fruitwood roasted chicken is a must-eat, the outside is crispy and the inside is tender, and the roast is just right!
This time I brought my family to play very happily. It takes only one hour to drive from Shantou. It is very convenient. It just started trial operation in August this year. Take advantage of the fact that not many people know about it, go quickly.
Exploring Qinglan Weird Mortar Valley National Geological Park: A billion-year geological wonder
Guangdong's only national geological park - Qinglan Weird Mortar Valley, is a place with endless mystery and wonderful geological wonders. 150 million years ago, this was a vast ocean, but now it has become a billion-year geological natural wonder full of weird mortars, weird holes, and weird stone groups. This place is a treasure trove of geology and an excellent place for tourism and sightseeing.
🏔️Entering Qinglan Weird Mortar Valley is like entering another world. The 8-kilometer-long Weird Mortar Valley is home to tens of thousands of weird mortars with different shapes. These geological relics of the weird mortar group were confirmed by professors of the China Geological Institute to have been formed during the Quaternary Ice Age 2-3 million years ago. These ice mortars are very similar to the stone mortars used for rice pounding in the south, so locals call them ice mortars.
Qinglan Weird Mortar Valley is not only a geological park, but also the filming location of the Happy Twist movie 'Never Say Die' 😲 You can feel the fantasy and humor in the movie, and also appreciate the wonderful scenery created by nature.
Qinglan Weird Mortar Valley combines various geological phenomena such as volcanic rock landforms, granite landforms, and water erosion landforms, perfectly combined to form a comprehensive geological park with extremely high tourism, popular science education, and geoscience research value. Every inch of land here has accumulated billions of years of history and stories, and it is a masterpiece created by nature. ✅
If you don't know where to go on the weekend, this is definitely a good place for parent-child outings! Come here to explore the billion-year geological wonders and feel the magic of nature!
