Ulanqab Travel Guide: See Volcanoes and Snowfields 1.6 Hours from Beijing.
Ulanqab Travel Guide‼️ See Volcanoes and Snowfields 1.6 Hours from Beijing 🚄 🌟 After enjoying the autumn in Beijing, head west to Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia to see the winter snow ❄️
🌟 For just 💰400 per person, you can enjoy the freedom of seeing volcanoes 🌋, grasslands, and snow! Here is my one-day travel guide for your reference.
.
🚄 High-speed train: Ulanqab Station
(Beijing North-Ulanqab 💰151, arrives at 8:52)
.
🚗 Transportation
The round trip is 300 km. It is recommended to drive or rent a car/share a car. It is now the off-season, so renting a car costs about 💰400, and sharing a car costs 💰100 per person. The car will pick you up directly at the high-speed train station, which is very convenient even if you have a lot of luggage. I came alone, so the driver took good care of me, took a lot of beautiful photos for me, and brought us big lamb buns and salty milk tea 🧋. I love it so much!
.
📍 Route overview:
Ulanqab Station—Huitengxile Grassland (Huanghuagou Scenic Area)—Wulanhada Volcano (Mani Stone Pile—Rainbow Road)—Agui Temple—Happiness Square—Ulanqab Station
.
1️⃣ Huitengxile Grassland
The grass is now bare, so I came here with the expectation of seeing a desolate grassland. I didn't expect it to snow ❄️, which made me, a child from the south, so happy! The vast snowfield is so beautiful!
.
2️⃣ Wulanhada Volcano
There are volcanoes 🌋 No. 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8.
Don't miss the Mani Stone Pile 🪨 and Rainbow Road at the entrance of the volcano!
We went to Volcano No. 6 - South Alchemy Furnace. The mountain here is black, which makes for great photos! You can also hold a lamb 🐑 and take photos in a spacesuit or with colored smoke.
You can pick up agate at Volcanoes No. 7 and 8, and you can climb Volcanoes No. 3 and 5, but ⚠️ be careful.
.
3️⃣ Agui Temple
If you are interested, you can go there. We spent too much time taking photos earlier, so it was dark and we didn't go.
.
4️⃣ Happiness Square
There are many delicious foods and a lively atmosphere. You can come here to eat after returning to the city.
.
🌟 Tips
The journey is long, so you can bring your own food and water.
The temperature is low in winter, so keep warm. Hats 🧢, scarves 🧣, and sunglasses 🕶️ are essential.
There are fewer people now in the off-season, but the grassland and volcanoes are open and not affected.
I went to Inner Mongolia while traveling in Beijing, so I didn't return to Beijing that day. I stayed in the city for one day and went to Hohhot the next day 💰50.
If you are worried that a one-day trip is too rushed and you need accommodation, I recommend staying 📍 near Happiness Square, which is lively and not far from the station.
If you are from Beijing and want to take a one-day trip to the surrounding area, you can return the same day and save one night's accommodation.

Volcano tourism!! Promise me you'll try this hidden gem of a volcano homestay.
🎇The Shining Pearl of Ulan Hada | Qiyue Volcano Homestay🎇
📍Location: It is located in Niuming Village, Ulan Hada, very close to Volcano No. 3, just a 5–6 minute drive away. This is super convenient for us who want to visit the volcano! Whether it's going to see the sunrise in the morning 🌅 or the sunset in the evening 🌄, it's easy to do.
🏠Environment:
- The overall environment of the homestay is really great 😜. The courtyard is lush with flowers and plants, and looking at it during the day makes you feel relaxed and happy, as if you are in a small garden 🌸. At night, the starry sky is bright and fireworks are set off. Setting off fireworks and watching the stars with friends in the courtyard is really wonderful, and all the fatigue can be swept away.
- The rooms are spacious and bright, decorated in a warm and elegant style, with comfortable and clean bedding. Lying on the bed feels like being surrounded by clouds, and you can sleep well 😴. The room is mainly decorated in a log style, and the natural texture of the log style is more reflected under the light. Every detail shows the owner's care 💕. Through the large transparent viewing window, you can also enjoy the natural breeze up close, which is so pleasant 🍃.
🥢Dining: The food here will definitely satisfy your taste buds 😋. The food is mainly Mongolian cuisine, hot pot, barbecue, and farmhouse dishes. The beef and mutton used are all naturally fed by herdsmen, and the meat is delicious. The Mongolian chef personally cooks it, allowing you to taste the most authentic Inner Mongolian flavor 🐑. Mongolian hand-held meat, roasted whole lamb, tripe, dairy products... every bite is unforgettable 🥰. The homestay also provides free breakfast, which is really thoughtful 👍.
🎉Entertainment:
- There are also many entertainment activities here 🤩. Each room is named after a Jay Chou song, which is a great benefit for Jay Chou fans 🎶. There is also a starry bonfire party at night, where Mongolian musicians lead everyone to dance in circles. The atmosphere is great, allowing you to enjoy private romance 💞.
- The homestay also has a children's playground, so families with children don't have to worry about their children getting bored 👶.
💁Service: The service attitude of the owner and staff is also very good, warm and hospitable. Before checking in, they will recommend good places to visit nearby, and all our needs can be met. When we leave, they will warmly say goodbye, making us feel as warm as at home 😃.

Ulanqab! Volcano Geopark!! Affordable and comfortable courtyard, about CNY 300 per person.
✨Ulanqab! Volcano Geopark!! Affordable and comfortable courtyard 🥰
✨Just came back from Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia!! Stayed in a very cozy and beautiful courtyard 🥰
✨The whole courtyard is well maintained! Stayed for 3 days!! Totally worth it 😭 It's peak season now! You really have to fight for a room!! But it's really worth it 😎!!!
✨The homestay is near the exit of the Volcano Geopark, about a 5-6 minute drive away 💕! The courtyard is very cozy, the room is very clean, and there is air freshener. You can see colorful flowers blooming in the courtyard 🥰
✨You can feel the comfort just by sitting there 🥰
The host couple is very attentive, they will pay attention to the needs of the guests and provide proactive service 🥰
✨The beef and mutton in the meals are from the host's own ranch, and the food made by the host is amazing!! I recommend their grilled lamb chops, grilled lamb legs, and beef and mutton hot pot! 🥰
✨They will contact you on the day you book the room, add you on WeChat, and send you a travel guide and menu 🥰.
✨We went out to play in the afternoon and came back just in time for dinner. I have to mention that their homemade yogurt is super delicious, highly recommended, you can't take it away, you can only eat it on the spot 🥰.
✨The courtyard is well-equipped, with fireworks to play with, barbecue to order, swings, and a rooftop to play on. It's perfect for kids and dogs 💞~

You must come to Ulanqab and encounter outer space once in your lifetime~.
This place can really satisfy all your fantasies about space💕
You can also rent spacesuits to take photos📸
Super Amway, you guys go to Crater 3 and Crater 6❗
Really huge movie🙌🏻
❄️The No. 3 crater has complete commercial facilities. You can climb on the plank road with very low difficulty. You can easily reach the top. You can also eat and drink on the way. The most important thing is that the scenery is beautiful~
❄️No. 6 volcano is a popular photo spot for internet celebrities. The black volcano is really photogenic, a bit like something from outer space☄️. Any photo taken with the black volcano background will be a blockbuster🫰🏻. If the weather is good, you can watch the sunset here.
In fact, there is a campsite in Crater 4, but the accommodation conditions are difficult, so I chose the one facing Volcano 6🏨! Black elements are also used here, and the decoration is really simple and technological. Each independent cabin makes me feel like a small planet🤣~
I have to say that winter nights in Ulanqab are really not that cold🥶. Fortunately, the floor heating here is really sufficient, and there are also smart appliances inside. It is really warm and comfortable to live in🫰🏻~ Fruits are also given when you check in. , the cafe inside the B&B can directly see the No. 6 volcano, which is really shocking😘❗Overall, the staying experience is super good~
For meals, I recommend going to Liu Bin’s Old Restaurant about half an hour away from here. The portions are really big and the price per person is around 40. I love the pot-wrapped pork and braised pork ribs here.
Love.Ivy.
Can't go to Mars? Come to Ulan Hada Volcano instead!
The Ulan Hada Volcano in Inner Mongolia is the only Holocene volcano in the southern Mongolian Plateau that has erupted. It has a large scale of eruption, diverse eruption methods, well-preserved volcanoes, and basically no erosion. The volcanic barrier lake is developed and is a natural "volcano museum" with important scientific research and popular science value. The park has a rich volcanic landform landscape, with different types of volcanic cones, volcanic craters, lava terraces, lava flow landscapes, barrier lakes, canyons, etc.
The park is free to visit, and you can drive to any volcano. Volcanoes No. 6, No. 5, No. 4, and No. 3 are the most worth visiting!

A poetic utopia hidden in time, right next to a volcano.
This unique homestay is located at the foot of a volcano. The name of the homestay, "Ji Er Homestay," is inspired by a line from the Book of Songs, which means "to grow old with you." It also sounds like "Ji Er," a railway line. The name is simple and rustic, easy for tourists to remember. Wulan Hada Railway Station is a basic rural railway station scattered along the Ji Er railway line. Ji Er Homestay is a homestay built from the staff dormitory of this small railway station hidden in the old times. It was built in 1953 and consists of five European-style bungalows, covering an area of about 4,500 square meters. Each building faces south, with a width of about 24 meters and a depth of 5 meters, divided into four independent rooms, a total of 20 rooms. The exterior walls of the building are all made of stone, cemented, forming a unique "tiger skin wall." The double-slope roof is covered with cement tiles from the old industrial period, making the interior of the house warm in winter and cool in summer, energy-saving and environmentally friendly, and extremely aesthetic. It is full of historical mystery and heaviness, and has a unique architectural form that combines the characteristics of northern rural houses with European style. It contains the memory of several generations of railway workers rooted in remote rural areas, and at the same time has a strong sense of the times in architectural aesthetics. Whether it is regional location, architectural style or cultural heritage, it is the best factor to create a boutique homestay in Chayouhouqi, and it is a full review of history.
👍Other check-in points:
Huailai Kangxi Grassland Wulandahahuo Mountain
Huitengxile Grassland
Huanghuagou Red Rock Cliff
📝Note tips:
Breakfast has local specialties such as potato buns and milk tea, as well as eggs, porridge, and pancakes. If you are not used to eating Mongolian food outside, you can go back to the small courtyard to eat some home-cooked meals. There is a chef cooking during the day. Because the homestay is next to the railway station, there will be freight trains passing by at night. If you don't sleep well, it is not recommended to stay here, or you can bring earplugs. It is 4 kilometers away from the No. 3 volcano, and it takes about 20 minutes to reach the south gate of the volcano from the homestay. The distance is very close. You can get up early the next morning and go to the volcano to watch the sunrise. The tatami is 2.8 meters, enough for a family to sleep. There are bonfires at night, which are very lively. Many families put small fireworks in the yard. With the retro old songs and ballads, it seems to have traveled back to the 1980s and 1990s, which is very interesting.

Anxious but kind
The Yellow River flows through the grassland - Ulanqab.
Inner Mongolia has always been a place I yearn for, and it was indeed a worthwhile trip. Because I was traveling alone, I joined a one-day tour group for convenience. If conditions permit, I would recommend self-driving. I visited the Huitengxile Grassland and the Wulan Hada Volcano Geological Park. Both places are super photogenic. On the grassland, you can wear Mongolian robes, slide on the grass, feed lambs, do archery, ride horses and off-road vehicles, etc. At the volcano, you can take photos with astronaut suits, which are super photogenic. You can also go to see agate. The scenery along the way is stunning. You need to prepare a day to visit both places. I stayed near the train station for convenience. I won't recommend the place I stayed because I chose a place with poor accommodation conditions for the sake of saving money.

If you can't make it to Mars in this lifetime, why not visit a volcano instead?
Ulanqab Volcano Group, especially Ulan Hada Volcano Group, is located on the grassland of Chahar Youyi Houqi, Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is a natural wonder that integrates grassland volcano group and lava landform and other geological landscapes. Here is a detailed introduction to Ulanqab Volcano Group:
Geographical location and scale:
Ulan Hada Volcano Group consists of more than 30 volcanoes of different sizes, covering an area of about 280 square kilometers (some say it covers an area of about 400 square kilometers).
Geological features:
The volcanoes in the volcano group have different shapes and are well preserved, making them important places for studying volcanic geology and landforms.
Experts have verified that the eruption time of these volcanoes is mainly concentrated in the late Pleistocene of the Quaternary (120,000 years ago) and the Holocene (10,000 years ago). They are the only volcanoes that have erupted in the Holocene found on the southern edge of the Mongolian Plateau.
Tourist resources:
Ulan Hada Volcano Group has become a popular tourist destination, attracting many tourists to come for summer vacation and photo shooting.
The volcano scenic area offers a variety of tourist experiences, such as self-driving tours, renting spacesuits for photo shooting, stargazing, horse riding, karting, etc.
The visitor center provides appointment management services to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of tourist activities.
Cultural influence:
Ulan Hada Volcano Group is not only a place to showcase natural beauty, but also an excellent place to learn about earth science and natural history.
With the development of tourism, the local homestay industry has also risen rapidly, providing tourists with more abundant accommodation and experience options.
In summary, Ulanqab Volcano Group attracts many tourists to explore with its unique geological landscape and rich tourist resources. It is not only a treasure trove of natural beauty, but also an important window to understand earth science and natural history.

There are 6 in total, 8-7-6-5-4-3, 3 for climbing the volcano, 6 for taking photos in spacesuits, 7 and 8 for picking agate (if there is any, it has been dug up)
🎈7 (North Mountain Peak) 8 (South Mountain Peak): These two volcanoes are pointed in shape and look like ordinary mountains. They look similar on the outside.
🎈6 (South Lian Dan Furnace): All black, the best place for photos, rent spacesuits, walk sheep, now it is forbidden to set off fireworks, so don't buy it, it's also very good to take a small red flag~
🎈5 (Middle Lian Dan Furnace): The volcano with the highest degree of preservation, the gravel road is difficult to walk, I didn't go down to play
🎈4 (Black Brain Bag): Half is a tourist service center, you can rest and eat, the mountain body is reddish brown, step-shaped, I think it is also very beautiful, and there is a big fake astronaut~
🎈3 (North Lian Dan Furnace): There are also many places to eat and rest. It is the only volcano with steps. You can walk to the top in ten minutes.
⚠️Precautions:
1️⃣You don't have to go to every volcano, you can choose a few volcanoes to play according to your time, but I personally think that 6 is a must-see😲
2️⃣Except for 3, don't climb any volcano easily, the roads are slippery
3️⃣You may need to bargain for renting spacesuits during the peak season. If you go this season, people will directly ask for 40-50. Remember to remind the boss to give shoes. My shoes are not provided🤣. Some shops rent spacesuits and directly give small red flags😄
4️⃣Remember to check the weather before going out. If it's windy, you can go to the bottom of the 6th volcano to take pictures. The wind will be slightly smaller.
5️⃣It's best to wear non-slip sneakers~
6️⃣There are usually food for sale at the foot of the volcano, and the price is okay
7️⃣It seems that you don't need to make an appointment at the visitor center during the off-season. We just went in directly, but it seems that you still need to make an appointment on holidays.

Beautiful grassland scenery.
Ulan Hada Volcano Grassland is located in Chahar Youyi Houqi, more than 50 kilometers from the center of Ulanqab. Along the way, there are red and green yurts, lakes, green grasslands, and grasslands that look like the Gobi Desert. There are herds of cattle and sheep, blue sky and white clouds above, and volcanoes below. The scenery is unique and the grassland scenery is rare.

Driving Lu A to Wulanhada Volcano without Traffic Jam Strategy!
Security Diary 2024.8.8 Weather: Sunny
The security captain drove Lu A to Wulanhada Volcano Geopark⛰️
After reading everyone's strategies, we didn't stay at the local inns near the scenic spot but stayed in the city instead. This way, we set off at 7:30 in the morning, and it took about an hour to drive to the Volcano Geopark. Don't navigate to the Geopark, directly set the destination to Volcano No. 8🌋! There's really no traffic at all! And the road is very easy to drive!
At Volcano No. 8 and No. 7, you can pick up stones🪨 and agates. Whether you can find them depends on your luck~
Volcano No. 6 has the most people and is the most beautiful. You will queue to enter the parking lot, which takes about ten minutes. From a distance, you can see astronauts dressed in white, so many of them, it feels like crossing the Milky Way🌌 hahaha
Then comes the highlight, I rented a little lamb🐑! 20💰 but she was so stubborn, wouldn't walk up the mountain, had to carry her, over ten pounds, but going downhill she walked faster than anyone! But she was really cute for photos📷!
Volcano No. 5 is very steep! If you want to climb, it's recommended to bring trekking poles!
At Volcano No. 4, there's a nice coffee shop where you can chill and take a break.
We drove an ATV up Volcano No. 3, the road was very bumpy but fun, you can bargain!
It might be getting colder recently, so check the weather before you go. This way, you can really avoid traffic jams! That's it, over!

Wulanhada Volcano
A very worthwhile attraction to visit, everything is great when the weather is good. Whether you take the county road or the provincial road from Huitengxile Grassland, the scenery along the way is really nice!
As soon as you enter the gate of Wulanhada Volcano, wow!!! It's full of cars and people! Yes, the scenic area is still free at the moment, and many supporting facilities are under construction, so you can park and play freely. It is estimated that there will definitely be a charge next year, and by then you will have to take the scenic shuttle bus, and many of the sights along the way can only be reached on foot!
Due to time constraints, we didn't go to the No. 7 and No. 8 volcanoes where you can pick up agates, and only spent an hour at the most famous No. 6 volcano. We also didn't go up to the No. 3 volcano, which has a fenced path leading directly to the top, but due to time constraints and the large number of people, we didn't go up.
A very worthwhile attraction to visit, highly recommend anyone going to Ulanqab to check out Wulanhada Volcano!!!!!!

This summer, I took a trip to an alien planet and came back with amazing photos
This summer, you must visit Inner Mongolia to witness the volcanic wonders. If you miss it, you'll have to wait a billion years! The Wulanhada Volcano Group, a romantic place where not a blade of grass grows, has an incredible photo rate. Are you ready to become a photography master in your social circle?
Drive for two hours from Hohhot, enjoying the picturesque scenery along the way, and you'll reach the volcanic secret land. The top recommendation is Volcano No. 6, a popular spot for astronauts. Put on a rented spacesuit, and you'll look like a visitor from Mars. The raw photos will instantly turn into sci-fi blockbusters.
Volcano No. 5 is a paradise for hikers. The steep mountain paths will challenge your limits, and when you reach the top, the vast view will make you forget your fatigue. Although agates are hard to find at Volcano No. 8, picking up unique stones is a special souvenir. Remember, the temperature difference is large, and the wind is strong, so don't forget your jacket and sunglasses. Light-colored cool outfits are more photogenic.
Self-driving tours are the best, allowing you to stop and take photos of the beautiful scenery along the way. Make reservations in advance during holidays. Hiking boots are essential for safety and comfort. Travel on sunny days for enhanced light and shadow effects, making your volcanic trip even more unforgettable.
Standing atop the small Eiffel Tower, feel the grandeur of 'reaching the summit.' Traverse the volcanic group and experience the pulse of the Earth from billions of years ago. Let's reminisce about the shock and romance from the Inner Mongolian plateau together. This is Lin Xiansen's travel channel. If you like my travel tips, don't forget to like, follow, comment, and share for support!

Escape from the daily grind: A two-day self-driving trip from Cangzhou to Ulanqab
First Day
Departure time: 6:30 AM⏰, we set off from the northern part of Cangzhou. I was captivated by the scenery outside the car window along the way. Six hours later, we arrived at the Qianzhi Lian Hotel.
🏨Hotel Recommendation: Qianzhi Lian Hotel
The first impression this hotel left on me was that it was extremely clean and modern—especially the air conditioning. The owner proudly told me that the equipment was newly installed. Although it automatically shuts off every half hour, the cool night air made it unnecessary to worry about stuffiness.
Exploring Volcano No. 8:
At 1 PM, we headed to the famous Volcano No. 8🔥. Despite encountering traffic jams along the way, our good mood was not affected. We made a brief stop at an inconspicuous rest area where the vendors were very friendly, trusting us to take the food first and pay later when we had a signal. This simple trust between people moved me.
Agate Picking at Volcano No. 7:
We didn't stay long at Volcano No. 8 and instead chose to head to the parking lot near Volcano No. 7 to look for agates. I suggest not wandering too far; just pick around the parking lot because the areas near the foot of the mountain have already been thoroughly searched. In just half an hour, we collected quite a few beautiful agates.
Spacesuit Experience at Volcano No. 6:
Next, we went to Volcano No. 6, where you can rent spacesuits for an experience. The price is 50 yuan per hour, and you can also rent a national flag for 2 yuan each for photos. Although the price is negotiable, we felt it was worth the expense. We played in the volcano wearing spacesuits for about two hours until dusk, reluctantly leaving.
Second Day: The Natural Feast of Huanghuagou
After breakfast, we drove to Huanghuagou. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, with every view comparable to a computer desktop wallpaper. About two hours later, we arrived at this beautiful place.
The price of the double ticket for Huanghuagou is reasonable, including transportation up and down and a small train ticket. However, grass skiing and activities at the bottom of the valley require additional payment. Children under 1.2 meters are free. The entire scenic area is filled with small yellow flowers, which are incredibly beautiful. Here, we watched a large-scale live performance of Aobao Xianghui, which was very impressive. The food prices in the scenic area were also quite fair.
We stayed in Huanghuagou for four hours. In the afternoon, we decided not to go to the city but drove directly to Datong, Shanxi, ending this short escape.
Although this self-driving trip from Cangzhou to Ulanqab lasted only two days, it was very fulfilling. Each attraction had its unique charm and story, leaving a lasting impression. If you also yearn for a spontaneous trip, you might want to follow our route. I believe you will have an unforgettable journey too!

Ulanhada Volcano Travel Guide
Inner Mongolia's Ulanhada Volcano Geological Park is a natural "volcano museum" featuring a cluster of grassland volcanoes, lava landscapes, and dammed lake views. Here is a travel guide for Ulanhada Volcano:
1. Best Travel Time: April to May and August to October. These periods offer pleasant weather, making it easier to appreciate the volcanic scenery.
2. Travel Routes:
• By Car: Depart from the city and take the [S203] provincial road to Ulanhada Volcano Geological Park. The total distance is about 200 kilometers, requiring approximately 3 hours of driving. Along the way, you can enjoy rural countryside views and taste local farmhouse cuisine at suitable stops.
• Public Transportation: First, take a long-distance bus or express train to nearby cities such as Baotou or Ordos, then transfer to a public bus to Ulanhada Volcano Geological Park. Specific bus routes and schedules can be checked in advance with relevant departments or by consulting bus timetables.
3. Recommended Attractions:
• Crater Viewing Platform: Offers a panoramic view of the entire crater, making it one of the park's most distinctive attractions.
• Red Mountain Palace: A palace used by Mongolian nobles during the Ming and Qing dynasties, now restored and open to visitors. It features grand architecture and exquisite murals.
• Stone Gate Scenic Area: Features a massive natural stone gate with a unique shape, seemingly leading to a mysterious underground world.
• Tropical Botanical Garden: Home to various exotic plants and flowers, where visitors can stroll and admire tropical flora.

Inner Mongolia - Summer Camping Check-in
Wulanhada Volcano Geopark · Tent Hotel under the Starry Sky and detailed sharing with everyone
Before going to Wulanhada Geopark, I booked the starry sky tent hotel in advance to avoid having no place to stay and even getting rained on. Check the weather forecast and prepare an umbrella. At the starry sky tent hotel, check in at the front desk, and the front desk will provide toiletries and slippers with patterns, which feel very warm.
It gets very hot in the afternoon here, so it's best to prepare a straw hat and a pair of ice sleeves for outdoor use. Of course, you can also choose to stay in the tent, which is very cool because an insulation layer is added outside the tent. It won't feel stuffy.
The tent is very spacious, with a large 1.8-meter double bed, and there are also family beds. I chose the family bed, which is very convenient when taking children, without having to squeeze with adults. There are also standard rooms suitable for playing with friends. I moved the table and chairs to a suitable position, lay on the chair, looked at the blue sky, the green grassland, and the cows and sheep grazing, embracing nature, and felt very relaxed... In the evening, I ordered roasted lamb leg and various skewers with the boss. Watching the bonfire party and fireworks, drinking iced beer.

Just returned from Ulanqab with the kids, stayed up late to summarize a 4-day, 3-night parent-child travel guide
Spend a few days in Ulanqab with the kids during the summer vacation! For a family trip, we avoided the crowded spots and didn't go for the 'special forces' style of checking in at every place. Letting the kids get close to different natural scenes is what makes the trip meaningful~
We also got to see the scene of 'the wind blows the grass low to see the cattle and sheep' 🐑!
-
1️⃣·DAY1 Hohhot-Ulanqab, rented a car locally to go directly to the accommodation destination . The first day didn't leave much time for playing, so we stayed around the homestay. We specially chose a homestay with a farm and a non-powered playground. The play area is very large, and just playing around here is enough for a half-day parent-child experience.
2️⃣· DAY2: Wulanhada Volcano Geopark (30 minutes by car from the homestay), mainly played at No. 8, No. 6, No. 5, and No. 3. You can rent a spacesuit for photos there, and I recommend taking a family photo as a souvenir, it's very meaningful (there are many volcanoes, no need to visit all, do as much as you can).
3️⃣·DAY3: Morning - Glacier Stone Forest Geopark (10 minutes from the homestay), currently a relatively niche spot, fewer people and great for photos. Afternoon - go to a large grassland and horse farm near the accommodation farm, the grass is green now, and the view is vast~ it's a scenery you can't see in the city. There is also a self-service barbecue by the river, while enjoying the beautiful sunset!
4️⃣·DAY4: Wake up naturally, take the kids to experience picking vegetables in the farm attached to the homestay, and have the chef process them for lunch~ then have a meal of lamb and return home~
-
📝TIPS:
☑️· Temperature & Clothing: The temperature difference between morning and evening is large, around 16-30 degrees, and it's still cool during the day at around 23 degrees! Wear a light jacket to watch the stars at night, and bring a light windbreaker. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
☑️· Travel: Plane - it's recommended to fly to Hohhot, then take the high-speed train to Ulanqab; High-speed train - Ulanqab Station. For non-local tourists, renting a car locally is the best way to travel.
☑️· Accommodation: When traveling with kids, I consider the accommodation a lot, looking at whether the location and surrounding facilities are complete and convenient. This time, staying at Altai Qitai was quite satisfactory. The rooms are large, clean, and the service is very attentive. The main thing is that there are many places to play around, and it's quite convenient to go to the attractions. There is also a restaurant here, with local specialties such as hand-held meat, roasted lamb ribs, and milk tea~ The main thing is, you can enjoy everything without going far.

Hohhot, waiting for you to continue your travel story!
Hohhot Deep Travel Guide: Summer Style, Five Days of Non-Stop Excitement!
🌟Departure: Arriving at Qingcheng at Night, Warm Start
Stepping into July in Hohhot, an impromptu trip quietly begins. As night falls, we arrive at this pearl of the grasslands and check into the Inner Mongolia Wanhao Grand Hotel (Baita Airport High-Speed Rail East Station Branch). Its convenient location (only a 10-minute drive from the airport and 1.4 kilometers from the East Station) and thoughtful shuttle and breakfast services make the first night of the journey warm and comfortable.
🌄Day 1-2: Volcano Exploration, Romance Under the Stars
The next morning, the rented vehicle arrives on time, and we drive to the Wulanhada Volcano Group, where a dialogue between time and nature is about to unfold. Upon arrival, we first rest at the Time Volcano Homestay, enjoying the afternoon tranquility. Then, we embark on an exploration journey: horseback and camel riding at Volcano No. 3, astronaut-themed photo shoots at Volcano No. 6, and agate treasure hunting at Volcano No. 8. Every spot is filled with our laughter. At dusk, the sunset atop the volcano and the starry night sky add endless romance to this trip.
🌿Day 3: Galloping on the Grasslands, Mongolian Style
We drive to the Huitengxile Grassland, where the vast sea of green is refreshing. On the grassland, we experience the joy of horseback riding and participate in the grand Zhamayan feast, feeling the rich Mongolian style. Although the experience of staying in a yurt was slightly disappointing, the vastness of the grassland and the coolness of the night made us forget all the unpleasantness.
🌅Day 4: Exploring Huanghuagou, Returning to the City
In the morning, we set off again to Huanghuagou, where a visual and spiritual feast awaits us. Riding the cable car through the ravines, we marvel at nature's craftsmanship. After lunch, we watch the wonderful Xianghui Aobao performance, experiencing the unique charm of Mongolian culture. Then, we return to Hohhot, strolling through the solemn Dazhao Temple and the bustling Saishang Old Street, tasting authentic Mongolian cuisine, and concluding this trip perfectly.
🏞️Day 5: Desert Adventure, Ultimate Experience
If time permits, consider heading to the Xiangshawan Desert to experience the vastness and mystery of the desert. Sand sliding, camel riding, and watching the desert sunset—each activity offers unprecedented excitement and shock. Of course, if you prefer not to travel far, the Inner Mongolia Museum, Dazhao Wuliang Temple, and General's Office in Hohhot are cultural treasures not to be missed.
💡Travel Tips:
Remember to book Mongolian robes online to avoid high prices at scenic spots.
The wind in Inner Mongolia is strong, so bring windproof hats and thick clothes.
Dazhao Temple closes at 6 PM, so plan your time accordingly.
Food recommendations: Kuangxiangzi, Hui District, Saishang Old Street. Don't miss the milk tea, beef jerky, and shaomai.
In this vast land, every moment is a scenery, and every stop is a story. Hohhot, waiting for you to continue your travel story!
