Zhong Aifang (忠爱坊) is a historic site established during the Yuan Dynasty. It was built to commemorate the contributions of Shanyang King Saidianchi (赛典赤) and Jin Siding Pingzhang Zhengshi (瞻思丁平章政事). The name reflects Saidianchi's efforts to understand the sentiments of the people in Yunnan and his significant contributions to their livelihood. He was praised for his loyalty to the monarch and love for the people. Notably, he developed the waterways of the Jinji River (金汁河), enabling the cultivation of over ten thousand acres of farmland. Zhong Aifang was destroyed twice and rebuilt in 1882 during the Qing Guangxu period by Yunnan and Guizhou Governor Cen Yuying (岑毓英), who raised funds for its reconstruction. The four pillars of the site are identical in material and size, each measuring 4 zhang in length and approximately 1.5 chi in diameter, creating a harmonious structure. The timber used was sourced from Songming (嵩明) by Yunnan's famous commander Li Weishu (李维述). This place is more than just a monument; it is a space where history and culture intertwine.
