After finishing our journey in Shaoguan, Guangzhou and Zhongshan, we took a three-hour intercity train straight to Zhanjiang. This was my first meeting with Zhanjiang. Our first tour started from Jinsha Bay, where we took a red-billed gull cruise to tour the ten-mile military port. Zhanjiang is the location of the headquarters of our country's South Sea Fleet, and Zhanjiang Port is exactly the anchorage of the South Sea Fleet's ships. Among our high school classmates, several were admitted to military academies, and later two of them joined the South Sea Fleet and still work in Guangzhou and Zhanjiang after retirement.
