Fascinating world of Zhangjiajie
#100waysoftravel
Stepping into Zhanjiajie national park is literally immersing yourself in the real Pandora planet. The lush greenery and beautiful landscape of nature here is absolutely breathtaking. It’s no wonder why this place inspired David Cameron’s avatar film. The majestic stone forests peaks and canyon are mesmerizing.
Tips: a lot of hiking so make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Zhangjiajie -Pictures don’t do you justice!!! Breathing taking views!!!
I’ve been dreaming of visiting Zhangjiajie in Hunan for the past 5 years! I finally visited all the sites.
Zhangjiajie National Park (pic 2 and 5) consists of a few area and it’s absolutely huge- you can easily spend a couple of days here especially if you want to explore the beautiful park- however as I was pressed for time I only spent a day here and mostly visited the Wulingyuan scenic area.
However, my absolutely favourite has to be Tianmen Mountain- (pic 1,3,4) - truly, pictures can’t capture the beauty of this place. To get to the top, you take the cable car, which apparently is the "longest passenger cableway of high mountains in the world" - it ascends 1,279 m (4,196 ft)- I can only describe it as that your eyes are rewarded with magnificent views of blue skies (depending on the weather of course), luscious greenery and emerald coloured lakes as you are slowly transported up.
When you reach the top, you feel as if you are truly on top of the world. As you take a picture of the back drop of Tianmen Mountain (pic 3,4) - the literal translation is “sky door” mountain - meaning the door to heaven- I would say the description definitely fits it well!

The Mystical Beauty of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
#chinatrip
A visit to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is a must for nature lovers on a #ChinaTrip. Known for its towering sandstone pillars, this UNESCO World Heritage site inspired the floating Hallelujah Mountains in the movie “Avatar.” The park’s breathtaking views, lush greenery, and scenic cable cars make it a magical experience. I recommend visiting early in the morning to catch the fog rolling through the mountains, creating a surreal atmosphere. Be sure to hike the Tianzi Mountain for panoramic views and take the glass-bottomed bridge over the Grand Canyon for an adrenaline rush! #100WaysofTravel #Zhangjiajie #AvatarMountains

Avatar Mountain
If you like seeing what nature can offer, you can try visiting the avatar mountain which is located in Zhangjiajie.
Very convenient as there are buses/cable cars that will take you to the place. It's a very big place where you can do both hiking and relaxing at the same time while taking buses
Food stalls are also found in almost every location so i swear you will never hungry. Prices may of course vary, so if you don't want to spend too much then you can also carry your own snacks.
1 day is not enough as the park is huge so at least 2 days should be spent or maybe 3 for this trip. Depends on how fast you walk haha But it's all worth it.

Avatar Mountains Local guide
Zhangjiajie China, also known as the "Avatar Mountains," is a mystical world with floating pillars that resemble the beautiful scenes from the movie Avatar. Despite its remote location in the western part of China, it is a must-visit destination. However, navigating the area can be challenging due to confusing maps and the park's layout. This guide provides essential information on how to visit Zhangjiajie and make the most of your trip.⛰️
Must know information:🌟
1. The main entrances to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park are Zhangjiajie Forest Park and Wulingyuan.🌉
2. A 4-day entrance ticket costs 245 Yuan.🎫
3. Buses, cable cars, a monorail, and an elevator provide transportation within the park, but some incur additional fees.🚦
4. Hiking trails are well-marked but can be confusing, so planning a route and allowing four days to explore different sections is recommended.🧗♂️
6. Buses stop running at a certain time, so plan your route to avoid getting stuck on a trail in the dark.🌚
Best views inside the park:📸
1. The 10-mile gallery is a beautiful trail that leads to the Three Sisters Peaks.🏔
2. Continue past the Three Sisters and hike up to Tianzi Mountain for stunning views.🌄
3. Explore the viewing platforms of Yunqing Rock, Arranging Battles Platform, and Imperial Writing Brush Peaks.🪨
4. Get off the bus at "One Dangerous Stop" and "Cock Pecking" for breathtaking views.🐓
5. Take the walkways from the Enchanting Terrace to Lucky Mountain for the best views of the park.🍀
6. The heavenly peak and natural bridge are must-do attractions for visitors.🌁
7. For a more leisurely activity, take a stroll along the 5km Golden Whip Stream, passing through valleys of sandstone pillars, offering a break from strenuous hiking.🪙
8. Alternatively, embark on a challenging hike up the Yellow Stone Village Mountain, navigating through forests inhabited by monkeys.🐵

Zhangjiajie | The shock that begins with the cable car
| The shock that begins with the cable car.|||D1: Arrive at Zhangjiajie West Station in the afternoon. Forest Park South Gate (Huangshizhai) - Charm of Xiangxi
D2: Forest Park East Gate (Yuanjiajie - Yangjiajie - Aerial Fields - Tianzi Mountain) - Eternal Love
D3: Forest Park East Gate (Ten-mile Gallery - Museum - Jinbian Stream) - Seventy-two Marvelous Towers - Tianmen Fox Fairy
D4: Tianmen Mountain - High-speed train
·Scenic Area: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park > Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park
·Performances: Eternal Love > Charm of Xiangxi > Tianmen Fox Fairy
·Specialty Dishes: Three-pot Stew, Smoked Meat, Duck Feet with Wild Vegetables, Glutinous Rice Cake, Kudzu Root Crisp/Water, Rice Wine
-Forest Park
·Ticket valid for 4 days, the scenic area is vast and has multiple geological periods, at least 2 days are recommended for visiting.
-Experience
·On the mountain: Aerial Fields = Tianzi Mountain = Yuanjiajie > Yangjiajie > Huangshizhai
·At the bottom of the mountain: Jinbian Stream > Ten-mile Gallery
-On the mountain
·Huangshizhai 2h: Take the eco-car from the South Gate to the Huangshizhai cable car, buy a round-trip ticket. Some scenery is the same as Yuanjiajie, but from a different angle. Lacks a sense of layering, the scenery is average.
·Yuanjiajie 2h: Take the eco-car from the East Gate to the Bailong Elevator, buy a one-way ticket. Ascend within the mountain for several tens of seconds, in exchange for a dozen seconds of open scenery, as if piercing through the clouds to see the sun. The Mihun Platform has distinct layers, offering an excellent view. The First Bridge Under Heaven is a unique product of sandstone geomorphology during a specific period.
·Yangjiajie 1h: Take the eco-car to Yangjiajie Station. Only the Natural Great Wall is open, which is the most spectacular peak wall in the park. Wulong Village is not open yet.
·Aerial Fields/Reviewing Stand 2h: Take the eco-car to the three-way junction station. The walk is too far, so a round-trip ticket is recommended. At the Reviewing Stand, the stone pillars and the Bailong Elevator come at you, as if within reach, with a shock that is beyond words.
·Tianzi Mountain 2h: Take the eco-car to Tianzi Mountain. When the scenery starts to feel a bit monotonous, Tianzi Mountain appears with a completely different forest peak form, refreshing the view. The observation deck offers a wide view, with clear layers of peaks, and the scenery is magnificent.
-At the bottom of the mountain
·Ten-mile Gallery 1.5h: Take the eco-car to the Ten-mile Gallery station, the scenery on foot is far inferior to Jinbian Stream, a round-trip ticket is available. At the end is a free monkey garden, where you can feed small monkeys by hand.
·Museum 40min: Take the eco-car to Shuirao Simen station. Free admission. Introduces the evolution of the geomorphology and exhibits local fossils and minerals. The treasure of the museum is a giant hornstone that is several meters long, which is astonishing.
·Jinbian Stream 3h: Walk from Shuirao Simen to the Oxygen Bar Square. Layered rocks have collapsed into the stream and along the streamside. The towering stone pillars appear in another posture, making one marvel at the wonders of nature. There is a chance to see salamanders at the Oxygen Bar Square.
-Tianmen Mountain
·Mountain Top Loop 3h. Unfortunately, due to the heavy rain, only Tianmen Cave was seen, leaving regrets.
-Performances
·Eternal Love: The stage effects are excellent. A song 'Masang Tree' interspersed with stories of ancient and modern heroes' farewells, which is touching and tear-inducing. The actors' performance is on par with Charm of Xiangxi. The ultimate stage effects and choreography bring more empathy.
·Charm of Xiangxi: Portrays some customs of the Tujia and Miao ethnic groups. It is superior in terms of folklore to Eternal Love, but slightly less empathetic. After the show inside, there is a folk stunt performance outside, including fire breathing, walking on knives and fire, and feats of strength.
·Tianmen Fox Fairy: A fixed real-scene stage, a clichéd human-fox love story, the viewing experience is average.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Travel Guide (Day 2)
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
1. Specific route for playing at the bottom of the mountain:
Enter through the central gate (Zimu Gang ticket station)—Take the eco-friendly bus—Get off at Shui Rao Si Men station—Hike along Jinbian Stream (from east to west)—Arrive at the Great Oxygen Bar Square—Take the eco-friendly bus to Huangshi Village—Get off at the lower station of Huangshi Village cableway—Take the cableway up to Huangshi Village—Tour Huangshi Village clockwise along the big loop—Take the cableway down from Huangshi Village—Take the eco-friendly bus—Head to the south gate of the forest park to exit—Dinner: Xiangji Lao Cai Restaurant
2. Points to note:
1. Time management is crucial to avoid travel groups. I recommend walking Jinbian Stream from east to west. The central gate opens at 7:30 AM, and travel groups usually start hiking from the Great Oxygen Bar Square, moving from west to east along Jinbian Stream around 8:00 AM. Therefore, between 9:00-10:30 AM, the photo spots where 'Journey to the West' was filmed will be crowded. I suggest we either reach the filming location before 9:00 AM or after 10:30 AM, by which time the groups will have passed, making it easier for us to take photos.
2. Safety issues: There are two sections along Jinbian Stream with many monkeys. Do not expose food in front of them or rummage through your bags, as there's a chance the monkeys will snatch things like phones and sunglasses, which they can't distinguish as edible or not. Remember to protect children.
3. I believe Huangshi Village is the most beautiful spot in Zhangjiajie. Don't listen to travel groups saying otherwise. A visit to Huangshi Village should be reserved for 3-4 hours. Travel groups take the cable car up and only take photos around a few spots near the cable car station. I suggest touring Huangshi Village clockwise along the big loop. There's a trail along the edge of the mountain, surrounding the entire village, offering many beautiful views and a peaceful experience with fewer tourists.
4. I recommend taking the cable car to go up and down Huangshi Village. If you choose to walk down, reserve 2-3 hours as the path is particularly steep with some stairs that are wet and slippery. It's not suitable for children and the elderly to hike. Since we have both elderly and children in our group, I've arranged a hiking route up Tianzi Mountain for the third day, so we'll take the cable car both ways.
5. After exiting Zhangjiajie National Forest Park through the north gate, there are fewer restaurants compared to the east gate. Be mentally prepared. For lunch, I suggest having some snacks on Huangshi Village or at the Great Oxygen Bar Square, which offers similar food options.
If you like my guide, please give it a like and follow me. I will continue to update travel guides for popular attractions around the country, hoping to help you plan your trips! If you have any questions, leave a comment below!

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
#chinatrip A stunning, breathtaking and awe-inspiring place. The inspiration for Pandora in the Avatar movie. An absolute must-see. The best time to see will be in early winter as the place will appear mythical and magical in the mist. The park comprised of dense forests, deep ravines, deep canyons, unusual peaks, caves, and pillar-like rock formations blanketed throughout the park. These pillar rock formations are what the park is renowned for around the world.

Touring the mountains and waters of Zhangjiajie, visiting the seventy-two strange towers
Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is breathtakingly beautiful|||It rained a bit today. There was a layer of fog on the water when we went. It was really breathtakingly beautiful. I recommend everyone to go. It's super beautiful~
Zhangjiajie is really a place where you accidentally enter a fairyland, Zhangjiajie two-day route recommendation|||Characteristics of each scenic spot:
● Yuanjiajie: There are hundreds of dragon ladders, Avatar shooting location, many tour groups.
● Tianzi Mountain: The scenic spots are concentrated, less time-consuming, easy and effortless, and there are many tour groups.
● Yangjiajie: Low level of development, few people, few tour groups, Wulongzhai and Tianbofu scenic spots have been struck by lightning and are temporarily closed.
● Huangshi Village: Independent scenic spot, few people, few tour groups, long total time (2 hours on foot).
● Ten-mile Gallery: The entrance and exit are a line, with a ground rail train.
● Jinbianxi: Much better looking than the Ten-mile Gallery, the tour group will not walk the whole journey (2.5 hours in total).
●PS: If time is limited, don't stick to popular scenic spots like Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain. The scenery on the mountain is actually similar. The scenery of Huangshi Village can completely replace it, and there are fewer people. If you choose one of the Ten-mile Gallery and Jinbianxi, definitely choose Jinbianxi. If you walk the whole journey, there are very few people.
●Two-day recommended route (the route I took)
DAY1:
Sign door in→Bus→Bailong ladder up→Yuanjiajie→Bus→Yangjiajie→Bus→Tianzi Mountain→Cable car down→Bus→→Sign door out
DAY2:
Sign door in→Bus→Jinbianxi→Bus→ Huangshi Village (cable car up and down)→Bus→Exit of Forest Park
Section bus:
Take the bus, on the route from the sign door to various scenic spots, sit in the same position as the driver, the scenery outside the window is back to the mountain and facing the scene, it looks better. From Yangjiajie to Tianzi Mountain, and the route back to the sign door, sit on the right side of the driver, the scenery is good.
The journey often passes through several scenic spots. Pay attention to the station shouted by the master and ask more to avoid getting off the wrong station. You can also tell the master if you want to get off halfway. The journey from Yangjiajie to Tianzi Mountain is longer, about 30-40 minutes, and it is a minibus.
Except for Yuanjiajie is Bailong ladder, the other 3 mountain scenic spots all have cable cars up and down. One way is 65-72 yuan, ends at 18:00, it is recommended to sit on the side of the cable car operation, then turn around and lean on the glass to see the scenery, sacrifice some comfort, but the scenery is in full view.
Walking up and down the mountain
Generally walking is to walk the chaotic slope of Yuanjiajie, the whole journey is about 1.5 hours, it should be just walking, there is no scenery. In general, the scenic spots are just looking at a large piece of bamboo shoot-like mountains from different angles. The part of the mountain is just walking in the forest and constantly switching between going to the observation deck to look out. Some observation decks have a wide view, and some are blocked by trees and cannot see the full view of the scenery, but the overall scenery is not much different. The momentum is magnificent, it can be said that after seeing the mountains of Wulingyuan, ordinary mountains can't enter the eyes, and they can't be seen.
The roads on the mountain, including the roads of Tianmen Cave, the span and quantity of ups and downs are moderate, and there is not much reaction after walking for 2 days, and those with good foot strength should not need equipment for the whole journey.
Zhangjiajie Seventy-two Strange Tower Zhangjiajie Seventy-two Strange Tower, a fairyland that brightens up in front of you!✨🏯|||Today I want to recommend a tourist attraction that you absolutely can't miss-Zhangjiajie Seventy-two Strange Tower! The scenery here is really beautiful that it brightens my eyes! 😍
A towering tower,
It's like coming to a fairy tale world!
It's a beautiful spot that makes people linger!

Avoid Pitfalls Guide | Average 500 RMB to Enjoy Zhangjiajie Forest Park
For those who want to go to Zhangjiajie Forest Park, look here🎈, I have prepared a tour route for you with fewer people, saving money and the most beautiful scenery, allowing you to avoid the Shuangmen Cave tour group, with an average of 500 RMB you can enjoy Zhangjiajie Forest Park, hurry up and collect it! 😆
🧡Tour route:
DAY 1:
●East Gate-Tianzi Mountain-Yangjiajie-Yuanjiajie-East Gate
DAY 2:
●East Gate-Jinbian Creek Full Journey-Huangshi Village-South Gate
🧡Tour tips:
Day 1️⃣:
●After entering from the east gate, don't go to the Bailong Sky Ladder!! Never! Because most tour groups will go to the Sky Ladder as the first stop, so unless you choose to hike, it is recommended to go to Tianzi Mountain counterclockwise first. If you set off early, you may see a sea of clouds, which is very beautiful at the cable car exit.✨
●I think Tianzi Mountain as the first stop can see Karst up close, which is quite shocking and beautiful! You can stroll around along the way, and randomly listen to the tour guide's explanation of folk customs, and you can choose not to participate in some consumer shopping parts!🙅♀️
●Skip the Aerial Pastoral Scenic Spot and directly take the eco-car to Yangjiajie, because the Aerial Pastoral is very barren this season, it is just a designated place for the driver to get off and take pictures, and this trip requires an additional transportation fee, so avoid it⚠️
●For Yangjiajie, if you have enough time, it is recommended to go to the Air Corridor and One Step to Heaven, go to the former first, there are fewer people and it's very photogenic!📸
●You can go to Yuanjiajie in the evening, if you are lucky, you can see the sunset, and leave the scenic area as soon as possible after watching, because there are no street lights in the scenic area after dark, everyone must pay attention to safety!⛰️
Day 2️⃣:
●Still enter from the east gate, avoid the Ten Mile Gallery, it's just walking along the foot of the mountain, there is almost no scenery! Directly take the eco-car to Shuiwei Simen and hike Jinbian Creek!🏞️
●I chose to walk upstream along the creek from downstream, the essence of the tour guide's points are just those "artificial" attractions, such as the Westward Journey shooting location, etc., I think it is not as good as the natural scenery downstream, super beautiful and super original, the key is almost no one, casually take pictures are landscape photos, but it is more leg-consuming🦵
●If you are not physically good, you can return to the east gate halfway through Jinbian Creek and then take the bus to the south gate, and then go to Huangshi Village!🎉
●To be honest, Huangshi Village can be skipped, because the scenery on the mountain is similar to the first day, but the hiking route is a primitive pine forest, I suggest that if you have enough time, you can choose the way of hiking + cable car, which saves time and effort!🚡
💰Cost: Zhangjiajie ticket🎫 can be used for four days, Bailong Sky Ladder can be completely avoided, and accommodation is cheap in the off-season.
🌈Summary: Zhangjiajie must not follow the group, I think it is a scenery that is more suitable for you to appreciate slowly, so it is just right to stagger with the tour group to appreciate its most beautiful side!✨

Gorgeous Avatar mountains (after rain)
Location: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China
Entrance fee: 227¥ (ticket + bus)
Date: July 19, 2022
Avatar mountains are incredible no matter how’s the weather. After the rain or on rainy days the scenery looks more beautiful and mysterious.
As it often rains here, you need to take a raincoat and an umbrella with you or buy them from small shops.
Here we can see a natural bridge, which unites 2 huge peaks. It looks really amazing. People also make wishes and tie them on the bridge.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is located in the northwestern part of the Hunan Province. It has become popular with tourists from both China and around the world. The park’s unique and stunning scenery has made it a must-visit destination for travelers.
On the way to the Bailong elevator, we can see lots of monkeys. As they’re wild animals, you need to be careful with them. Don’t eat or drink in front of them, otherwise they’ll grab your food😅
Btw Bailong elevator (Bai means hundred and long - dragon) is the tallest, heaviest and fastest outdoor elevator in the world. It is 326m and from the foot to the top we can get in less than 2 mins. The price for the elevator is 75¥ (one way).
It’s better to spend at least 2 days in the park. That would allow you to visit the must-see attractions and enjoy the scenery if the weather is rainy or foggy. As it’s a rainforest, the weather is mainly rainy here, so you need to choose a good time to admire this incredible view.

Hard to Capture !!! 😍 The most Amazing Mountains
I don't know how to describe the landscapes I had the chance to be in !! 🥲
No matter how many pictures/videos we see, it is another level when the environment swallows you in and you become part of it.
Sharp edges and spiky mountains, stairs and stairs to the top and relaxing rides on the cable cars
I recommend people climbing up the mountains and taking the cable cars down! feels like a reward after a tough day 😌 . I spent 3 days and that's enough to see pretty much the whole park! it is so convenient as the buses to link different spots saves you some time (and that is included in the National Park ticket price).
just go !!! 😆😆😆

Zhangjiajie national park, Avatar world
Ho guys,
For those you have seen Avatar, would you like to visit and see with your own eyes the Navi planet ?
If you go to Zhangjiajie national forest park, your dream will come true 😁
This park is huge, at least 3 full days will be mandatory is you want to visit each corners, see the temples, do some hiking and meet the monkeys 🙈
You will also need a hotel nearby. I would recommend the Whispering hotel (nearby, easy access and the team drives you to the closest gate).
Peace ✌️

The iconic Zhangjiajie
Can’t explain the Incredible scenery in Zhangjiajie, Hunan ⛰ Most famous for the avatar mountains.
This place has been on my bucket list to see for a long time, extremely happy to finally have visited!😍
Highly recommend Zhangjiajie National Forest.
Would suggest to stay closer to the east gate as this is the main entrance of the forest. This way you don’t waste time to commute everyday from the city centre.
You can purchase a ticket for multiple days. I would suggest to spend at least 3 days exploring the different spots. #zhangjiajie #avatar #mountain #zhangjiajietravel #scenic #mountains

World of Avatar
Most breathtaking view of a lifetime!
It’s my second time to visit the national park. First back in 2016 it’s the most amazing time because everything is covered with snow so you feel like your in very top of the world and and it feels really like the movie avatar. That time I went is around February, but this photo is taken last November. I’d still prefer the month of February it’s cold and very beautiful that you won’t forget. ALSO BEWARE OF THE MONKEYS! They look cute but they are very dangerous and aggressive!
Ticket price to National Park is around 228-118 RMB it depends on the season.

A National Forest Park Like No Other
There are unique & breathtaking places on earth then there is Zhangjiajie National Forest Park! Now there’s been talk that the mountain formations were the inspo behind Avatar & that’s all well and good. What this place is actually is indescribable. The mountain silos here are one of a kind and also look like naturally formed skyscrapers. There are numerous entry points to the park and sections to it so apportion at least 3 full days to see this entire park. Yes, every section is as gorgeous as the last. To get the famous Tianzi section we took a bus, hiked, got terrorized by those unruly and rude monkeys, a cable car, another bus, more hiking then voila. Also got to take earth’s tallest outdoor elevator, called Bailong. You’ll do well going in Autumn or spring, get comfy shoes for the walks & preferably a staff for those monkeys or your day will certainly be ruined. Furthermore, get snacks & water if you want to live. just let those beasts see it.

Pillars' Forest - The Amazing Nature
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park became China's first national park in 1982. This park which was later known as Avatar Hallelujah Mountain is a park of quartz-sandstone pillars. The pillars are from the natural process of the changing weather.
By riding the Bailong elevator which literally means a hundred dragons elevator, we can see this breathtaking view of the park. These 3 elevators that run parallelly offer sightseeing for visitors. The elevator itself is 326m and became the world's tallest outdoor lift when it was opened to the public in 2002. It can carry around 60 people at a time.
It's just an amazing experience to be there to enjoy this natural beauty.

Avatar (Hallelujah) mountain, Zhangjiajie
It was my second time I visited he park since May 2013 and the experience was very different.
1. Herds of tourists (end of July, low risk zone)
2. The weather. In July I was "lucky" to enjoy several days of sunny weather and only 1 day of evening rain and IMHO Zhangjiajie turns into Pandora only when it's rainy - in sunny days these are just other Chinese mountains.
3. Development. I even don't remember where I lived in 2013, most likely in Zhangjiajie town, this July we lived in Wulingyuan, very close to the entrance. Of course this whole area changed, too, together with China
Also due to covid there were a lot of budget and really good options, including the hotel we stayed in.
A few tips: the ticket is for 4 days, don't rush the first day. Prepare in advance, get a map of the park (in our hotel it was available at reception for free). There are some other highlights like glass bridge and Tianmen mountain, the bridge isn't in the park (as I thought before the trip).
Enjoy! #zhangjiajie #avatarmountains

💙FEELING THE AVATAR EXPERIENCE💙
Zhangjiajie National Forest park is a MUST VISIT place in China. It is difficult to explain with words how this place is, we are still staggered and stunned after visiting it…
It is crazy cool, it is like a city with skyscrapers made out of mountains and greenery with insane formations and among them is misty, full of magical corridors and hollows in which some of them are raining like if it was the last day on earth and another ones chilled drizzling…
We spent three days exploring the park and we had enough time to see all the places but the ticket is valid for 4 days, which is quite nice!
