[Okinawa] A spectacular spot with a historical romance! Zakimi Castle Ruins 🏯🌿
Zakimi Castle Ruins is one of the World Heritage sites "Gusuku and Related Sites of the Ryukyu Kingdom" in Yomitan, Okinawa Island🏯✨ It was built in the early 15th century by the famous general Gosamaru, and the stone walls that survived the Battle of Okinawa are still beautifully preserved🌿
The castle walls are characterized by their unique design with arched gates and curved lines! The technique of "Aikata-zumi", in which huge stones are stacked without gaps, is impressive, and I realized the high level of architectural technology at that time😲
From the castle ruins, you can see a magnificent view of the blue sea and Okinawa's cityscape, which is especially impressive at dusk🌅💕 It was a healing spot where you can take a leisurely stroll with a pleasant breeze and a sense of history🚶♀️🌸
There is also free parking and it is easy to access🚗💨

Zakimi Castle Ruins
#okinawatrip The historical site is a very nice park for visiting and worth a visit to understand the history of Ryukyu people. It's free. We were there in the late afternoon in December and there was hardly anyone there. We got to enjoy the tranquil place without many people surrounding us. The place is up on the hills and there's a good view up on the top.
The ruin is not big by any means. However, it's a little distance from the parking lot. We spent about 45 min there total.

Zakimi Castle Ruins
This castle ruin is not so big, so you can walk around it without taking too much time. The view from the castle walls is very beautiful. However, there are no fences, so be careful not to fall. Also, the road leading to here is one-way. There is a free parking lot so please park there. Be careful when you leave, it's one-way too.

This castl
This castle ruin is located in central Okinawa near the Cape Zampa lighthouse. Unlike so many other attractions there was free parking and no admission fee! The castle itself is located with a well maintained park which is quite peaceful to walk through. #wintergetaway
