On the Lianjiang River, 1.5 kilometers away from the ancient city of Huizhou in She County, there is an ancient water conservancy project nearly 1,400 years old - Yuliang Dam. Yuliang Dam was first built in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty. It is the oldest and largest ancient dam in the upper reaches of Xin'an River and the largest ancient water conservancy project in She County. It is known as "the first Dujiangyan in Jiangnan". Irrigation, boating, rafting, flood discharge and drought prevention can all be beneficial at the same time. Because Yuliang is an important wharf connecting the six counties of Huizhou in the north and Hangzhou, Jiaxing and Huzhou in the south, this place is truly the "source of Huizhou merchants." The dam is 138 meters long, 27 meters wide at the bottom and 4 meters wide at the top. It is built entirely with layers of granite stones, and each stone weighs more than a ton. The masonry construction method of Yuliang Dam is even more scientific and ingenious. For every ten bluestone blocks, a stone pillar is erected, and solid stone piers are inserted between the upper and lower layers like nails. This kind of stone nail is called "stability" or "yuanbao nail". In this way, the upper and lower parts, left and right parts are tightly connected together, forming the Yuliang Dam's solid and durable "indestructible body" that lies across the river. During the spring and summer when the water level rises, the water of Lianjiang River rushes down through the three water gates. The roar of the waves is like thunder in the sky, resounding through the mountains on both sides. The waves are surging like jade and snow, shaking the starry dreams on the river, which is a spectacular sight. Yuliang Dam crosses the Lianjiang River. The southern end of the dam is adjacent to Longjing Mountain, and the northern end is connected to the old street of Yuliang Village.
