Spring in Nanjing is a thousand times of spring and scenery, with seas of flowers everywhere! Last spring, I went out to take photos whenever I had time, it was so beautiful. This year, I have sorted out a guide to flower viewing in Nanjing for you, keep it and don't miss it! 1. Jiming Temple: A must-visit for cherry blossom viewing, best from mid-March to early April, take Metro Line 3 to Jiming Temple Station, and walk a few steps. 2. Laomendong: Azaleas bloom in late March, and they look super beautiful with ancient buildings. Exit 2 of Wudingmen Station on Metro Line 3, walk for 5 minutes. 3. Guanyinmen: Less crowded and beautiful scenery, cherry blossom season is similar to Jiming Temple. You can drive by yourself or take bus 325. 4. Mochou Lake: Begonias bloom from late March to mid-April, take Metro Line 2 to Mochou Lake Station. 5. Pearl River: From mid-March to early April, cherry blossoms bloom along the river, Metro Line 3 to Fuqiao Station. 6. Hanzhongmen: Magnolia blooms from late February to early March, Metro Line 2 to Hanzhongmen Station. 7. Chaotian Palace: Magnolia can also be viewed at the same time, the red wall and flowers are super charming, Metro Line 2 to Shanghai Road Station. 8. Plum Blossom Hill: A good place to enjoy plum blossoms from February to March, Metro Line 2 to Muxuyuan Station. 9. Academy of Agricultural Sciences: Colorful rapeseed flowers are super eye-catching from mid-April to early May, Metro Line 2 to Zhongling Street Station and transfer to bus. 10. 雨花台烈士陵园 is a Memorial Park and Tourist site in Yuhuatai. To enter the park you will need to register or sign in. (I'd suggest taking a passport, but may not be needed) The park is home to the statue of nine figures who represent and commemorate the lives of the of the communists killed, executed and buried here. The monument (pic2) and Memorial hall each hold there place on the site too, with the memorial hall holding artworks and cultural relics. The site has an unusual feeling and it isn't a spot for a fun walk. It's an opportunity to read, to learn and to try and consider the actions of the past. 雨花台烈士陵园 would be the Chinese to search in Didi or map app.

“Yuhuatai’s history dates back to the Liang dynasty. Legends tells of a monk named Yun Guangzhou who preached a sermon so moving that the heavens rained flowers , hence the name Rain Flower Pavilion.“ 📍This scenic spot is located in Nanjing’s Yuhua district. I believe the closest subway station is Zhonghuamen (中华们). You can then take a bus ride from there. 🥢Food and drinks: I saw one little shop near the entrance of the park selling drinks and ice cream. I didn’t see anything else while visiting the park so definitely make sure you bring some water and a little snack with you. Yuhuatai is a truly underrated scenic spot. I always thought it was just the Martyrs' Cemetery, but I never expected it to also have the thousand-year-old Gaozuo Temple and the spirit way of Li Jie's tomb! Within Nanjing's Yuhuatai Scenic Area lies the Ming Dynasty tomb of Li Jie. The spirit way stele and stone carvings are still present. Compared to Xu Da, Li Wenzhong, and Liu Ji, Li Jie is not only far less known among the founding fathers of the early Ming Dynasty, but he also died early in the Northern Expedition alongside Xu Da. His final official position was only the fourth-grade Commander Tongzhi. Li Jie (1331–1369), a native of Shouzhou, Huoqiu (present-day Huoqiu County, Lu'an City, Anhui Province), was a founding noble of the Ming Dynasty and the father of Consort Li Shu. After Empress Ma passed away, Consort Li Shu was ordered to manage the affairs of the six palaces, effectively acting as the empress. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Li Jie pledged allegiance to Zhu Yuanzhang and successively served as the Commander of Guangwu Guard. In the second year of the Hongwu reign (1369), he participated in the Northern Expedition and died on the battlefield at the age of 38. He was posthumously awarded the title of Grand General of the Pacification of the State and Commander-in-Chief. The tomb was originally located in Yanghuicun Village, Yuhuatai, outside Zhonghua Gate in Nanjing. The spirit way stone carvings have been relocated three times to their current location. The existing spirit way stele is 2.9m high, and the tortoise base is 2.5m long. There are also stone sheep, stone tigers, stone horses, as well as two grooms and two military figures. Not far from Li Jie's tomb's cultural preservation stele is the Erzhong Shrine, originally named Baozhong Shrine, built to commemorate the Southern Song Dynasty anti-Jin hero Yang Bangyi. Wen Tianxiang, an anti-Yuan hero, and Yang Bangyi were both from Jishui, Jiangxi. After Wen Tianxiang's martyrdom, people also enshrined him in the Baozhong Shrine, and it was renamed "Erzhong Shrine" (Shrine of Two Loyalties). On the screen wall inside the shrine is Wen Tianxiang's *Song of Righteousness*, inscribed by the famous calligrapher Wu Zhongqi. In the backyard, there is a well and a well parapet. On the wall next to a spring is a stone plaque that reads: "Ancient name: Yiquan Spring." The exact date of the spring is unknown.
