Fresh out of the oven – A Spring Travel Guide to Dongshan in Suzhou's Wuzhong District
Who hasn't unlocked the travel experience of Dongshan yet?
Tea picking, tea tasting, mountain climbing, and enjoying the scenery, how delightful it is~
Today, I will recommend a few great places to visit in Dongshan this spring~
I have been to Yuhua Shengjing Scenic Area several times myself. This place is a tourist destination that combines natural scenery, historical sites, and cultural landscapes. Below you can enjoy the beauty of the tea gardens, and above you can reach Mo Li Peak. There is much to enjoy just in this area.
If you have one day's time
In the morning, visit the natural oxygen bar and forest park of Dongshan – Yuhua Shengjing.
Ticket price: 30 yuan, discounts for children and the elderly
Opening hours: 9:00-16:00
Transportation: Take bus 502 directly to Dongshan from the train station, ticket price 4 yuan; or take the minibus from Wuzhong District Bus Station to Dongshan Town, with a bus every 5-10 minutes, ticket price 7 yuan.
· In spring, I highly recommend trying tea picking and tasting in Yuhua Shengjing. Don't miss the seasonal Biluochun tea. Experience the 'brewing, admiring, smelling, drinking' amidst the scenery of Jiangnan and appreciate the unique view of 'busy tea picking in the mountainous Jiangnan spring'. It's a good choice to sit leisurely in a tea house or join a study tour group.
· In Yuhua Shengjing Scenic Area, you can fly kites, camp and picnic, go on a spring outing, or have a group gathering for team building, getting close to nature.
· For those who have plenty of time and energy, you can also try cycling around Lake Tai or hiking up Mo Li Peak. Feel the atmosphere of spring through breath and sweat.
Climbing a mountain on the weekend is very comfortable, perfect for exercising. Mo Li Peak, with an altitude of 293 meters, is all mountainous and quite steep. Walking and stopping along the way, it took about 2-3 hours to reach the summit, where the scenery is endless. A forest oxygen bar, a lung-cleansing journey.
In the afternoon, visit 'the first ancient village of Lake Tai' – Luxiang Ancient Village, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Tai along the way.
Ticket price: 65 yuan, half price for children and the elderly
Opening hours: Summer 08:30-17:00; Winter 08:30-16:30
· There are many Ming and Qing dynasty buildings in the ancient village, which are very suitable for sketching and photography. It's not an exaggeration to say that there is a view at every step.
· Here, you can't go wrong with any farmhouse restaurant! Taihu's three whites, pickled Tofu with fresh fish, and white jade square cake are all worth a try.
Luxiang is simple and low-key, not crowded with tourists and not commercialized, mainly local residents, full of a faint sense of life and worth visiting. Entering at 2 pm and coming out after 4 pm is just perfect for watching the sunset by the lake, very beautiful. It is recommended to go on a non-weekend when it's less crowded and quiet, so you can walk slowly and feel the atmosphere.
