This trip took me to Yuanrong Wuai Chan Temple, which is worth a brief mention. The temple was founded by the monk Buddha-tu-cheng, a national preceptor of the Western Jin Dynasty. It is the second oldest temple in Henan Province, after Baima Temple. Unfortunately, it fell into disrepair during the Republic of China period. In 2002, it received funding for reconstruction, with a total investment of over 120 million yuan, resulting in its current scale. "Yuanrong" means "breaking through prejudice and achieving perfect harmony." "Wuai" means "no obstacles in the mind, no obstacles in the body." The temple is stunningly large. The main axis of the temple is a continuous uphill climb. A national 4A scenic spot, located on Lvjian Mountain next to Dangyangyu Ancient Porcelain Kiln, under the jurisdiction of Xiuwu County, Jiaozuo. Yuanrong Temple is one of the 893 temples created by the Buddhist monk Fotucheng, who was praised by the Buddhist community as the "first monk of Buddhism spreading eastward among the people" during the Western Jin Dynasty. Tourist Attraction Check-in Guide: This morning, take the train to Jiaozuo. From Jiaozuo Station, take bus No. 3 to Yaowang Temple (National Protection). Yaowang Temple in Jiaozuo is known as the ancestral temple of the Medicine King and is a Taoist temple dedicated to the Medicine King Sun Simiao. The temple has a long history, with the main hall being a Yuan Dynasty building, giving it a sense of age. The ancient tree in front of the hall is said to have been planted by Sun Simiao, and the stele in front of the tree is a Tang Dynasty stele. The tall buildings behind the main hall are newly built. Free. After visiting Yaowang Temple, head to the ruins of the ancient city of Shanyang (National Protection). Jiaozuo was formerly known as Shanyang. The remnants of the Han Dynasty city wall are the thickest among county-level cities, but only parts of the wall remain, so you can't see the full view of the ancient city. You can skip this. Free. Continue to Jiaozuo Museum, a second-level museum. Surprisingly, the calligraphy was done by Guo Moruo. The museum's treasure is the painted pottery figurines and chariots from the Yuan Dynasty tomb of Jin Demao, which are very impressive. The five-story painted pottery granary from the Han Dynasty is also worth seeing. Free. After visiting the museum, head to the tomb of Xu Heng (National Protection). Xu Heng was a famous Neo-Confucianist, politician, educator, and astronomer of the Yuan Dynasty. The tomb is large, but the iron gate is locked, so you can only peek through the gap. Free. Head to Yuanrong Temple, a temple built in the Five Dynasties period and the ancestral temple of the Korean Yuanrong sect. The temple now enshrines the Four Great Bodhisattvas and Shakyamuni Buddha, among others. Although the temple buildings are newly built, they are still impressive. There are many ancient stone carvings and wells in the temple. The most unique feature is the brick arch design of the bell and drum towers, which is very different from traditional Chinese temple bell and drum towers. The nearby Dangyangyu Kiln Site (National Protection) is heavily promoted, but the kiln site is almost inaccessible, and you can only see the National Protection stele. You can skip this. Free. All these locations can be reached by bus, but bus No. 29 to Yuanrong Temple runs only twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon, making it very infrequent and hard to catch. You can take a taxi there, and on the way back, you can ask a tricycle to take you to the station for a few yuan.
